for a wedding

I ordered the belt they recommended, not the blue one but the one in the photo, & it doesn't look right somehow. Should I order the blue one or order something else (cheaper!)

And jewellery & shoes? I think peep toe would look nice maybe?

As far as jewellery is concerned would this be too much? I really like it but not sure if it would go -again look at photo of dress on model she has chunky necklace..

dress

necklace

thank you

you have a good point MrsL!

So do you really think I go for a full blown big petticoat or would it be better to go for something a bit tamer, like

tara starlet

I love the look of the full one but 1) I don't want to look like I'm trying to get lots of attention and 2) I'm quite short, does that make a difference?

I'll see if I can call Mango & add the white belt to my order. Not convinced about the bag but I think I know what you mean about it going well (I think with all that's going on you almost want something that nobody will notice)

That Tara petticoat is a thing of beauty, wow. Only in black or peach though.

How full you want the petticoat is just a matter of personal taste, but I think with all the pleating in the skirt it might well sit oddly on a non-full circle petticoat. The beautiful tara one is quite straight, I think it might sit under the dress rather than move with it, not sure. You can get more flared petticoats that are less bouffant than the VoH/Sams linked to before though.

The VoH / sams ones have all the weight at the bottom so they don't give a stiff look at all. From looking at google images I think one would just fill the skirt nicely without adding masses of volume. The weight of the skirt squishes the petticoat down a bit too.

this from the swingtime site (top left) is a less full but looks like it'd move better. (photo is cream but it comes in white)

full petticoat without [[http://www.swingtimecollection.co.uk/images/077.jpg ruched edging on hem like the VoH ones = more squishage from the skirt.

MrsLettuce · 24/08/2012 08:54

Sorry - full petticoat without ruched edging on the hem would squish more than one with ruched edging.

I'm so confused now as to what to do. That less full one looks good but am now thinking you might not notice it at all. I like the look of the fullness at the bottom

those ebay ones look a bit big on the top, as in it would make my hips look big don't you think?

shall I just go the whole hog Shock? I could always send it back if I think it's too much.

Am I getting on your nerves yet? Grin

lol, no you're not getting on my nerves yet Grin

I'd say go the whole hog and get the Sams ones VoH sell (but from the cheaper site). The ebay ones are often quite stiff and scratchy, t'others silky soft and supple...

With the slimmer ones under such a full skirt you do run the risk of it being invisible.

accessorieshelp · 24/08/2012 09:12

ok last thing (I hope!)

would this non rouched go better with the dress and give more swish than

rouched

[hides]

the non-ruched in the link one be fuller and stiffer than the ruched one in the second link. Deffo. 'cause of the 'reinforcements' on the seams and hem.

ruched bottom but less full than sams IRL 'cause it uses less fabrc

MrsLettuce · 24/08/2012 09:22

For maximum swish you want non-reinforced seams and ruched hem edging, chiffon (sams) is swishier than tulle (hell bunny).

MrsLettuce · 24/08/2012 09:36

(tulle is also not so nice against the skin so you'd need tights or a slip under anything tulle)

accessorieshelp · 24/08/2012 09:42

ok thanks, will go for rouched sams one then.

am having another disaster - my left ear piercing seems to have shut Sad (shows how long it's been since I've made an effort!) and am making myself sick trying to stick my pearl earring in! Might have to get some clip ons, so annoying

OP posts:
MrsLettuce · 24/08/2012 10:57

Oh bugger and balls! You've not repeirced it with an earring have you? Shock

accessorieshelp · 24/08/2012 11:23

er, yes! have given up though and have found some clip on ones for £10

also, after all that turns out my sister has a petticoat I can borrow Grin

Great news about your sisters petticoat, you get to try and if you like the look but it's not right you should be able to work out what you need. Grand!

WRT the ear, you can probaly get it re-pierced for less than a tenner. You'd need to see a body piercer though, rather than clairs though - with it needing to be in exctly the right place. I'd just do it myself with a sterilised needle and cork, but then I do have a damn high pain threshold

Sounds like you're going to look amazing Envy Grin

NigellasGuest · 24/08/2012 14:35

has anyone suggested a bolero? you would then keep warm without hiding the dress.

accessorieshelp · 24/08/2012 17:08

well I've managed to re-pierce my ear myself - ouch - lets hope my ear doesn't drop off before the wedding

thanks for the suggestion nigella - I've ordered a couple of cropped cardis and someone is lending me a white pashmina so am going to try those and see how I get on.

am off tonight, will let you know how I get on (wedding is next sat). thanks for all your help
