Who exactly buys petite clothes?

I'm 5 ft and I have never purchased petite clothing . Yesterday I tried on short leg jeans ( not petite ) and went back for the medium leg as they felt too ankle flappy . I pretty much always wear flats too. I bought a petite coat once and when I put my arms up the sleeves went right up
My arm .. Sent it back for the normal .. Weird ..

I do sometimes - I have a short body so dresses in particular have the waist and hips and even bust darts too low down.

I agree it's all about proportions, not dimensions.

So where does one get nice petite clothes from?

I'm 4'11" and often find petite stuff too long! I find it useful for coats so the sleeves aren't so stupidly long.

Don't think they exist hector.

Petite isn't just for shorter people, petite sizes are for people who don't quite fit regular sizes (8,10,12 etc) but the size down is too small. its the smaller end of the size usually.

Eh? Petite is for shorter people, at least in every shop I've ever been in.

OP, can you even fit Top Shop petite jeans which have a 32 inch inside leg? They make me fume as I don't know ANY petite lady who has an inside leg that long!

Boden have brought out a petite range and their dresses are just right.

Have some 32 leg topshop jeans I wear with heels . Honestly though I don't look like I have long legs . If I wear jeans with heels ( not 6 inch stilettos or Anythng) I do wear my jeans skimming the floor as it gives the illusion of height . Are you all wearing ankle flappers??

I have 25 inch inside leg - I need to wear heels with most petite trousers/jeans!!

I wear "short" jeans but they drag along the floor and get frayed. Certainly not ankle flappers!

Banana republic - coats, jackets, dresses
Topshop - jeans, blazers
Next - Skinnys, blouses, shirts
Dorothy Perkins - maxi dresses, cardigans
Boden - dresses, jackets, coats, trousers
M&S - coats, jeggings, pencil skirts

No OP, I think you just have really, really loooooooooooong legs.

I'm barely brushing 5 foot and I would need to wear 5 inch heels to wear Top Shop jeans!

I am petite 5ft and find that Gap are good for jeans as they have different styles in different leg lengths. I also like Banana Republic, Wallis and Debenhams, but think that M&S petite range is dreadful even for basics. Will check out Boden too.

Very handy for about a year when DD1 grew outwards age 10-12 and teen stuff apart from next plus size jeans didn't fit.

She then shot upwards and into standard adult 10-12.

Me I'm 5'4" so petites too short and some high street shops regular is too long. Very annoying.

I'm 5'4" and size 14 and I buy petite trousers as I have short legs and a long body. I am far from petite but have 28" legs on a good day

Me. I'm 5'4 too. I find I'm too big for petite bottoms but some of the tops fit me much well.

I buy petite trousers/jeans because I have a 26'' inside leg, everything else is just far too long. I bought some 'ankle grazer' jeans in new look and still had to roll them up to be anywhere near fitting my legs!

I'm 5"2/3 and I buy petite where possible.
I must have extraordinarily short legs (I do) because all jeans/trousers are miles too long. Surprised you don't have the same problem.

I'm 5ft3 but not petite, just short (in the torso). I have size 5 feet and wear jeans and skirts from the standard departments (28" inside leg)
I would wear petite tops but half don't fit right - tight across the shoulders and in the arms. And I have 28 DD/E boobs, which petite clothes aren't made for. And the other half are frumpy.

5'2, inside leg 30 but short body so whilst regular trousers are fine I like the proportioned tops and jackets in petite ranges - some are better than others, Top shop and Boden are good.
