Ollie what a lovely post, I've really appreciated the support I've had from this thread and still remember a v kind post from GoS a long time ago when I was starting to despair about ever getting pregnant again.

Mintgreentiger what a lovely back to work bag. How's your return to work going? I'm back soon.

Decam you're a nicer mother than me! DD1 wants lelli kelli school shoes, I've told her she can have clarks shoes because she just trashes her shoes.
What's the sizing of the Boden cargos like? I'm usually a 29 in jeans and assumed I'd need a 12 but do they come up big?

DH has bought me the Davina as a return to work present, it came this afternoon. I'm bowled over, he never buys me clothes.

Red thanks for raising the issues and for being inclusive.

MarshaBrady · 16/08/2012 19:55

Aww what a lovely post lurkingaround thanks. I wonder if we can scrabble enough together to stay and do the just links here and the GB.

MarshaBrady · 16/08/2012 19:55

collective thanks that is Grin

dexter73 · 16/08/2012 19:55

NotSoGrumpy - for a minute I thought your dh had bought you an exercise video!

Decameron · 16/08/2012 20:02

Way to go, MrGrumpy. These are the shoes, they are very cute. I know she wanted them for the pen that came with them but what the heck. I'm a 29 too and ordered the 10 and 12 in the cargos. The 10 looked much better. If my mirror and 4yo are to be believed.

LurkingAround Blush!

trixymalixy · 16/08/2012 20:06

Can I second everything lurking said. I think this thread would be much missed. It's the Mumsnet Vogue magazine!!

[jealous] of the Davina, Ive been lusting after that dress for a while.

pickledsiblings · 16/08/2012 20:12

NSG, what colour did you get?

Has anyone heard from Apuski lately?

FritziGreenEyes · 16/08/2012 20:18

deca The Lelli Kellis have interchangeable straps!? DD would absolutely adore these shoes but it would take even longer in the mornings to leave the house deciding which strap to choose.

nsg Ahh, that's lovely. DH bought me a dress when we were still students. A cherry red linen shift from Hobbs which I thought was one of the most sophisticated shops at the time. Well, in the town he lived anyway. Still have the dress and very fond memories of wearing it in NYC in the summer.

emo I loved your flippancy. Think we should have more of that Smile. Are you already on holiday?

Welcome delurkers. Please stay and post avidly! But not any more Per Una please. Gave me nightmares Grin

AmberNectarine · 16/08/2012 20:19

Don't worry, I'll still be here linking wildly inappropriate work dresses and fitflops.

AmberNectarine · 16/08/2012 20:19

I can almost hear the collective sigh of relief from the lurkers.

AmberNectarine · 16/08/2012 20:23

NSG that is lovely of your DH. Mine is a good buyer of accessories, clothes less so. Some of hits include a bodycon American Apparel number (size XS, pffft), a leopard print cropped blouse (like you do) and an odd green jumper dress that Sarah Lund would be proud of. He's good at jewellery and bags, but doesn't deviate from 'the list' much these days.

lurkingaround · 16/08/2012 20:26

Yy, the Mumsnet Vogue!

FritziGreenEyes · 16/08/2012 20:27

red Get some lilac for your garden if you can. The scent is just wonderful!

mamasin · 16/08/2012 20:33

Long time lurker here, like other posters I feel I have lost my style mojo. I dress either very conservatively or college style, neither of which is appropriate for a ok looking, slim 37 year old! I really enjoy the links, the warmth shown to others and to the newbies who join. I hope that Wise and Avid gals will continue to prosper and grow for a long time!

doghouse · 16/08/2012 20:37

another lurker, delurking to say 'don't go'. Totally agree with what lurking around said. I have been a follower since LTEC days and whilst I don't post, I have found the thread invaluable in many ways. Whilst I have many friends, no-one really gets my love of fashion that you all seem to share. Also your style extends to so many other things (travel, interiors etc.) I have learnt so much. Totally understand your concerns though. I am KL on Pinterest btw.

Gillybobs · 16/08/2012 20:39

I had a funny feeling lots of lurkers might stick their noses above the parapet tonight! (myself included)

Just want to add that I think it would be a real loss to the S&B forum if you guys left.

trixymalixy · 16/08/2012 20:42

The lurkers are all coming out of the woodwork now!!

DonaAna · 16/08/2012 20:42

Cannot keep up!!!!
Welcome delurkers!

Just a few technical things.
I maintain a small forum for one of my hobbies. It has an open and closed part. Plenty of web hosting providers offer ones - but that forum has gotten very quiet after two frequent posters (out of about 40 members) became inactive.

The secret, closed FB group: our forum (a pregnancy group -> toddler group -> support group) is almost dead because FB is such a messy site. It looks like the S&B main page, lots of topics, difficult to follow in a linear way. I find FB a chore, deleted my profile about 2 or 3 years ago, have now a fake identity strictly for entering certain sites that only require FB login. Don't like the invasiveness of FB - they bombard me with unwanted emails that are difficult to turn off.

I have maintained two other closed forums. Both died because they were too small to begin with (15-20 active members). When there are only few new messages daily, people will not check in daily and that quickly further slows down the forum.

I really understand the need for a closed forum - after all, I've started several. But I'm less gung-ho about them these days because I miss the good old times and it's sad when something you love and rely on slowly dies. So I prefer open forums.

Change of subject Grin - have had a fantastic day. Wore watermelon silk DvF top to work; spent the afternoon by the sea with a perfumer friend - lovely. Went to a stylish boutique (sales pitch - want them to carry his line), saw lots of extremely fashionable people and lots of Skovgaard shoes; will have a big party tomorrow and will get to spend Fri-Sun sans DC wearing party dresses, drinking champagne and staying in a rented 4-BR penthouse apartment with friends - get this, abroad! Not very far, but far enough! (Lovely parents will babysit!)

Oh and sorry about egocentric / techie-boring post...

MidnightinMoscow · 16/08/2012 20:44

NSG I thought it was a work out DVD too! How lovely though, and yes what colour did you get?

Cute shoes Decam. I bought DS a pair of £4.50 wellies from Sainsbo's today. He was easily pleased!

Gahhhh to that coil story...especially in view of what happened to me when they put it in! TMI alert - I have had the worst period in years, which is my first since having it put in. Have had it for almost 2 weeks now. Hideous.

DS is really pushing my buttons at the moment, and I am shouting a lot, which I hate. He just won't do as he is told/asked, has tantrums over the smallest things, and generally is being a nightmare. I don't think I can send him to nursery tomorrow as he had a temp again tonight. Potty training has been knocked on the head too.

Emo when do you go?

MarshaBrady · 16/08/2012 20:53

It's a great post Dona! And swoon at your weekend plans. We have (and I never thought I'd write this) lent on the gps to the max and now on hunt for a babysitter for Saturday. The weather is warm

MarshaBrady · 16/08/2012 20:54

Warming up and I'm feeling jittery.

Welcome de-lurkers. Do stay! and Grin

DonaAna · 16/08/2012 20:55

Oooh even more delurkers - great!
Amber I will stay - love your style and messages! Did you get the fitflops already
For everyone obsessed with frumpiness: I spent the afternoon in an achingly cool hip whatever word people half my age use these days boutique among Demeulemaasters and Wangs and Acne sample bits and obscure indie labels I've never heard of and one of the showcased displays was gray frayed jogging pants combined with a faded, dirty sweatshirt. Basically, DH's underwear loungewear at the stage when he finally bins it. Or my PE gear from mid-80s. That's fashion - we all might ne wearing it in the near future. Can't wait ;)

MarshaBrady · 16/08/2012 20:55

And Emo Yy you were funny it was nice.

AmberNectarine · 16/08/2012 21:04

Haven't had a bit of Wendy love for a while but how beautiful does she look here?

Dona I'm a long term fitflop fancier (blame my hip bursitis) but I have yet to succumb to the hideous ballet pumps. I found a nice pair in Banana Republic with memory foam insoles to keep me on the straight and narrow.

AmberNectarine · 16/08/2012 21:06

Ooh, lurkers, who's your favourite? it's me, isn't it?
