GW so sorry to hear that news. Hope your friend can find peace now.

ollie aw, we'd love to hear your good news!

red the sloping off was probably scuppered by the 'where's red?' posts, but at least you know you're loved Wink

As I've said, I'll follow the masses!

blue2711 · 16/08/2012 14:28

Thinking of your friend gw.
Happy for your happy news ollie! Even though we can't know what it is... Your very thoughtful, lovely post has made me think again. I think you're right about the thread mattering, not MN. I would be very happy indeed if there could be closed threads / groups on MN. It's easier for me atm as I don't work and my DC haven't yet started school, so my world is rather small and very few could recognise me and it be a problem. But actually I would hate school mums who I don't really know / colleagues / pupils' mums... etc to recognise me on here in the future, even if they were likeminded! Will follow the majority re a new closed group but think I would struggle to post on two I'm afraid.

I am grimacing at the talk of sambucca an tequila is worst of all! Never never. Good old DH has downed mine for me on necessary occasions...

Lovely knitwear decam. And those leopards! Almost wish DD was older so that she could wear them but she's only 6m and think DH might do this Hmm.

rufus I'm the same with boots! It's absurd. I now have aggies in tan and grey, the TS ambush in black, the NL ones on their way, the pink Zara ones... Plus a couple of pairs of perfectly wearable ankle boots from the last few years... Still, at least they're not fit flops hey amber? Wink. My DH is pleasingly swarthy btw and I was most pleased that he would counteract my freckly blue-ish skin, but no both DS and DD are as pale as pale, sigh.

Survived shoe shopping just about. He was a demon during the shoes and clothes bit and an angel in the cafe. Just like his father. No treat for me but my mum has whisked him off now to stay overnight which is just as good! Meal out tonight with the girls, not sure what wearing yet.

blue2711 · 16/08/2012 14:31

I love the shape and cling fit of this T Wang dress but is it a terrible colour for a pale skinned blonde?

blue2711 · 16/08/2012 14:32

Ooh, Olivia Palermo has a pinterest account for those of you who love her style like I do! She's in my followed list if you want to find her easily.

mintgreentiger · 16/08/2012 15:15

hello, I am a sometime mumsnet lurker (although I did pop my posting cherry yesterday on another unrelated thread!) who sometimes looks at this thread for style inspiration. Before you migrate I just wanted to say a very heartfelt thank you for unwittingly helping me navigate back to feeling more myself earlier this year. I'd just emerged from the fog of having my first baby and was feeling a bit overwhelmed and glum and like I'd lost my identity. Having a flick through your links and generally feeling like it was ok to really care about clothes AND be a mum was invaluable. I spent my return to work bonus on a Gracie!

And also wanted to say about the FB thing - I am on a couple of groups on my account (not MN ones). There are closed groups but actually the group setting that I think would work best for you is the secret group. That way it doesn't come up in searches, no one knows you're in it and no one other than the members can see the post. So I recommend that!

Ok, better go now, have severely limited all S&B lurking as all my salary seems to be going on childcare at the moment so determined not to be tempted by any pretty things...

pickledsiblings · 16/08/2012 15:36

mintgreentiger (love the name btw), so pleased the thread has been of use to you. I get the feeling that I may be popping my Facebook cherry sometime soon.

Hopefully · 16/08/2012 15:49

I know that I would definitely not remain active on a facebook and MN groups/ thread - I just don't have the time/energy. I would probably occasionally check a FB group if we stayed here, but would remain predominantly here, I expect.

I would happily migrate to Facebook if it matters to the majority, but I totally agree with Dona - moving exclusively to a closed group completely prevents newcomers, and means that if/when people start to drift away due to RL demands, the group will gradually diminish. I think that would be a shame Sad

OllieinOrange · 16/08/2012 15:50

Oh Blue thank you so much for the OP Pinterest heads up. Just started following her. She's my new BFF!

MidnightinMoscow · 16/08/2012 16:28

Just back from an afternoon at a NT place...my god I never thought I'd ever utter that phrase. But hey, it was a great place for DS to run about, lots of woodland and trails etc. Low points were being chased by some cows and DS getting a welly boot stuck in a cattle grid. Hard to maintain a stylish personna throughout both events!

Ollie thank you for that post, you have summed up a lot of what I have felt too. Some personal stuff I am happy to share here, like when I went into labour etc. However, some stuff that I have posted about DH and I...well I wouldn't tell any stranger that and yet I have really. So I am all for a private group too. I understand the concerns of the group dying out, but many posters have been posting for a long time and have clearly shown a commitment to keeping in touch as it were. I suppose if that did happen, then we would cross that bridge when we come to it.

I cannot believe none of you have ask me what I want to share about my coil by the way. Call yourselves friends?!!

OllieinOrange · 16/08/2012 16:38

Do we have any brogue wearers on here??

I like the way they look here. But they may look too manly on me and my size 7s!
Are they a difficult trend to pull off (fully aware that yet again I am at least 12 months behind the rest of the S&B world)

FritziGreenEyes · 16/08/2012 16:40

In the queue for donating blood. Wearing white shorts, grey cotton blouse, Edelman glads and pretty matching underwear in case of fainting Wink

Hopefully · 16/08/2012 16:50

Having a leg stretch after picking up the keys for new house. Have found approximately 47 tops that would go perfectly with hypothetical leather trousers. Next decent week (work wise) I have, I'm getting some.

MarshaBrady · 16/08/2012 17:32

Ollie a lovely post. It is very nice to have the level of support we do on here it is true.

Red don't slink off, oh no we would miss you. I thought people had gone and I realised I would miss everyone on here too.

Blue I love that T Wang dress and think you could wear it.

Decam what gorgeous little trousers!

Hi Mintgreentiger thanks for tip, the more secure the better imo (lock down).

MiM lol, how's the coil?

Ollie I love the brogues in the pic so much. I'm sure you could wear them like that.

Fritzi lovely outfit and good plan with the just in case of fainting (well done on giving blood btw)

hopefully congrats on new keys!

On the issue of fb/mn I'm a bit footloose and post all over on mn so I don't mind keeping it up. But I completely understand the reasons some lovely posters on here would like more privacy. So I would be happy to set up an fb account

Decameron · 16/08/2012 17:46

Mintgreentiger, hope your return to work goes well and good choice on the Gracie!

I would be on for an FB group and don't think it would die out, a lot of us have been posting for two and a half years now and have met up. I'll still check in here but less frequently if Red goes (see the pressure you are under, Red? Wink)

Yes, MiM, tell us! I heard of someone the other day who got pregnant while having a Mirena (friend of a friend), the doctors said it must have been wrongly inserted.

DD1 is now the proud owner of Lelli Kelly school shoes and I am £50 down. The Boden cargos arrived, really pleased with them and I am normally a total jeans snob! The 10 fit which is just another plus in their favour!

Bath time, phew.

Emo76 · 16/08/2012 18:11

Am torn about thread or no thread and FB groups and sorry for being so slightly flippant last night. I will folllow where you guys go. That is if I am invited!!!

Portia4 · 16/08/2012 18:31

Fritzi your outfit sounds fab, we're dodging showers here!

I forced myself to wear my pale blue skinnie Armani jeans that I bought at the start of the summer in homage to the coloured jeans trend. I never know what to wear with them, so not a great buy. Today I teamed them with a floral cotton lawn blouse.

I really enjoy the thread and have enjoyed meeting those of you that I met at the MUs, I would follow both if we went on FB.

Russianred · 16/08/2012 18:52

Decam you know how to make a girl feel wanted Wink. Three rave reviews on the Boden cargoes now - should probably try them for size, should I not?!

I can see myself still popping back here to comment on nice shoes or ask questions about Whistles dresses, but think I can do that across the S&B boards/on a more infrequently posted on W&A thread here.

Emo I know you jest, but in terms of being invited etc, I would hate, hate, hate anyone to think this was the inauguration of some kind of exclusive Mean Girls style group that leaves others behind. It's one of the reasons I posted my feelings directly onto the thread rather than sending PMs.

Decameron · 16/08/2012 18:56

Yes, no Heathers here !

AntPants1 · 16/08/2012 19:02

Shit I have the mirana.....

AntPants1 · 16/08/2012 19:04

If we go underground will someone explain facebb

AntPants1 · 16/08/2012 19:06

Facebook to me!? (sorry I phone fail!)

AmberNectarine · 16/08/2012 19:12

I so want to be a Mean Girls style clique. I was never allowed to be in the one at school, would you believe? Wink

Decameron · 16/08/2012 19:16

I have it too, Ants. I went pale when I heard the story but it is very unlikely. I would not be happy!

AmberNectarine · 16/08/2012 19:18

Ok MiM I think I need a PM...

lurkingaround · 16/08/2012 19:44

Another de-lurker here. I feel the need to let you all know I've been lurking and be honest about it.

Goodness, but I absolutely love your links!! You are by far the most fashionable people I know. I tend to scan the page and look for the blue links. So I don't know if I'm a 'real' lurker, but I do lurk. I can completely understand if you feel the need to go private, but I'm sure the thread would be sorely missed.
