How lovely seventh! Was there a 'frisson'?

blue2711 · 02/08/2012 21:19

Quick hello to all.
So jealous of potty trained DC... I am weeks into attempting to train DS and v little progress. In dark moments I fervently believe he will never get it. I would gladly postpone but he is 3 next week and due to start pre school in September, where they insist that they're trained....

Quick question to London ladies. DH have a tomorrow afternoon completely free in central London: what would you do if you couldn't shop?! DH up for some 'sightseeing' / wandering but is definitely not a keen shopper.

ny have a great time. I have agonised over outfit too!

I am skinny now and was as a child but did have a puppy fat period which I was pretty ok with. In fact was strangely body confident in teens but much less so as twenties progressed, but feeling better again now in 30s (even though probably look much worse!).

blue2711 · 02/08/2012 21:20

Oooh seventh! How nice! Love DH v much but did love being single and dating.

blue2711 · 02/08/2012 21:22

The first post should have said 'DH and I have a free afternoon...'. Suggestions of great areas / bars / exhibitions / markets gratefully received. I've gone blank!

AmberNectarine · 02/08/2012 21:30

Hyde park to watch the sport blue?

I was in a 34b at 10. I remember vividly looking round at my whippet thin peers as we changed into our fetching purple gym leopards and feeling huge. In hindsight I wasn't, of course, but that was the start of a very difficult relationship with my figure.

Seventh - go out for works drinks, get drunk and snog in the carpark Wink Well that's how I met DH.

rufus101 · 02/08/2012 21:41

How lovely Everything.
Like Bloss, I would have sold my mother for a clevage. In fact, it's only now, at the grand old age of 42, that I am at terms with them, and like them. I would look totally ridiculous with cleavage! To me Amber everyone seemed to fill their bra perfectly. I was really only wearing one for show!
These are the Baystan trousers I bought today. They look absolutely dreadful in that picture, but believe me, they are lovely on, and it takes a lot to impress me in trousers.
Also got this pencil skirt there Again, looks bloody awful in the pic, and frumpy. I would never have bought it off the net. It has a very nice detail going down the side. I was about to pin them on my board, but won't now, as fear people would think I had wandered into Per Una or something.

5 years is nothing.

And I won't bore you with the too soon-ness of my and DH's meeting Wink

rufus101 · 02/08/2012 21:47

On the plus side the MAC Endless Drama Lipstick lasted for hours. Until I ate. So, I'm well impressed. Looks much more plummy in RL.

rufus101 · 02/08/2012 21:50

A younger man. You're a dark horse!
5 years is nothing, but be prepared for the endless ribbing. DH is only a year and half younger than me, and you'd swear he had been 10 years younger. Funnily enough, all of DH's brothers married women older than them, from my age gap to 6 years! So there!

I wish you'd bought it yesterday rufus, I could have bought it today! And there's no MAC in Liverpool airport. Would need to try it though, have £100's of pounds worth of unworn lipsticks Blush
Agree, you would have to get drunk seventh Wink has always worked for me!

notyummy · 02/08/2012 21:59

Ooh- how exciting SE! I am 18 months older than DH and he likes to remind me Hmm but makes no difference at all really.

OllieinOrange · 02/08/2012 22:03

Very quick hello from me. Busy, busy, busy with sister and nephews visit.

DS1s birthday today - which started at 5.30am with DS2 waking his brother up so he could open his presents! Said he was being thoughtful...
Visited a small amusement park which they all loved (I got v wet on a water shoot thingy and then felt incredibly sick after going on a mini rollercoaster - as DH put it, not my kind of day). DS1 thought it was "awesome" tho
Brought him the audio version of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. Had a real 'moment' when he came back downstairs this evening after listening to the first cd and said if he won a golden ticket, he would photocopy it so Ds2 could go the on the trip to the factory too. Adorable.

Am blubbing like a baby at any medal win. Loved Chad's Dad with Clare Balding. TV gold.

OllieinOrange · 02/08/2012 22:06

Ooooh Decameron. Thanks for the WC heasds up. Three words: navy, poncho, sweater. Has my name written all over it!

AmberNectarine · 02/08/2012 22:13

Yes, can't really comment on the 'too soon' bit SE, ahem, but what I can say is my DB's partner is in her late fifties, and he is 44. They have been together for 14 years, so 5 years is nothing, really. How exciting for you, as others have said, I love my DH most of the time but I do miss he fun of dating.

Sounds like a lovely birthday for ollie jr. I love those moments of sibling affection. They are relatively commonplace here. DS very cutely refers to DD by her full name (surname included), and is frequently heard saying 'luff ooo, 'belle'. She for her part enjoys feeding him bits of usually chewed food.

rufus101 · 02/08/2012 22:18

So sweet Ollie. You were very brave to go on any kind of roller-coaster. I am terrified of them. Went on one 10 years ago, in California, which was small by today's standards, and had a scarey moment, as it started up, when I was so terrified, it flashed through my mind to jump off!!!Shock Seriously though. It did. I went on some kind of tame by comparison thingy with DD last summer. I nearly started to cry towards the end. In fact Blush I started to scream "stop, stop". DD found it hilarious. She LOVED it.
Everything, colour seems to remain pretty stable, as far a I could see. And it wasn't drying IYKWIM. I felt as if my lips had lip stick on, as were "moist". (that word always gives me the heebie jeebies for some reason)
Bloss, I have 100's of £ of lipsticks that I've lost. Can never seem to keep them in the one place. Then I'm briefly reunited with it 6 months later in a bag or coat pocket, only for it to go awol again. My sister always has a make up bag with her, and I really should adopt this tactic, as I would just move that around from bag to bag. But then what to do when you go out and have a tiny clutch? Yeah. I know. First world problem. You do have to try make up on though, don't you. Can't buy without a try.

MarshaBrady · 02/08/2012 22:19

Ah yes sibling love. Ds2 is spoilt rotten by ds1's lots of love.

I left someone for dh at work. Work relationships are so easy - and good fun. Or that one was probably not all are.

Had a short but really lovely night out spent a fortune. Really good to do.

rufus101 · 02/08/2012 22:24

Wow! That is some age gap Amber. You see? Just a number.
You know, I had a moment the other day, when I was wondering if skinny trousers had had their day. Was speaking to my DM, and she was relating her shopping trip to me, when she announced (BTW she is 73!) "so, I tried those slim trousers that everyone is wearing these days. Well they looked awful. I couldn't get into my usual size, and had to go to the next one. They still looked dreadful, but they look so lovely on everyone else, I met X and she had a lovely lemon pair, although they were a bit too long" Was Shock I just said soothingly "well, they are not for everybody" Hmm, if my 73 year old mother is buying into a trend, it totally kills it for me.

blossoming · 02/08/2012 22:25

Love your nights out marsha. I am in need of more, and 1:1s with DH.
I sm confiding in you all that I am slightly dreading my holiday. Friends are joining us. Phoned her the other night, feel quite distant from her tbh. Second week we're on our own.

MrsCampbellBlack · 02/08/2012 22:28

Moist - yes Rufus its up there with panties.

We're going to legoland for eldest's birthday in a week or so - I am so looking forward to it Hmm

I don't think I'd have had any relationship without being drunk at the beginning - oh dear, that doesn't sound so great does it.

Isn't Clare Balding doing an amazing job - I adore her.

Tom Ford lipsticks are amazing.

AmberNectarine · 02/08/2012 22:33

Aw, more power to your mum Rufus! My DM wears skinnies with stripey tees, high tops and her Barbour international, exactly like me. I don't mind at all, she is a size 8 though, so probably looks better than I do...
