Ugh! Made the mistake of venturing onto the "frumpy" fred. I feel all cross and stabby now.

Would I be very very bad person to wish premature menopause, arthritic feet and southward-creeping gunts on all those females who cry nay to flat comfortable shoes, leggings, long skirts and non-skinny jeans?

beachyhead · 24/07/2012 14:55

Back onto brows!!!i went to Space NK to their browbar, where they plucked, threaded and tinted and, I must say, I thought it was well worth it... Sort of made me look less 'faded away'

oldqueenie · 24/07/2012 18:00

beachy, space nk was the site of my dehairing... the cheapside one. have just about got over the shock today although site of former moustache rather numb. dcs have stopped taking the piss about my hairiness but say that my tinted and threaded brows "make you look like an owl and not in a good way..." why do i bother??
off to have a ruck on enraging frumpy fred.

MrsSchadenfreude · 24/07/2012 19:06

I am having a huuuge crisis of confidence - I need to apply for jobs and am looking at what's available, thinking, oh I couldn't possibly manage to do that. So am being a bit of a wimp. We also need to look at schools in the UK, if we are going to be moving back to London (very, very real possibility) and I can't face that either. I need to MTFU and get a grip on both of these ishoos, instead of sitting here rocking and gibbering quietly to myself and drinking. DD1 has vetoed first choice of school as it has a uniform, which is really very unhelpful. Due to schools being oversubscribed, I also need to have a cut off date for applying for jobs elsewhere, and I can't think what this is going to be - September? December?

And I need another holiday.

Cremolafoam · 24/07/2012 19:10

Omg I am so hormonal today . Weeping at threads and falling out with dd. much door slamming.

In other news: I have been inspired to get eyebrows sorted and have also booked a blow dry for tomorrow.

Yes it is STILL raining here .EnvyEnvyEnvy of hottest day of year elsewhere.
Our day will come I hope.

Only 3 sleeps til payday.Grin

bigTillyMint · 24/07/2012 19:11

MrsS, I could have done with that catalogue today - stuck on the bus for an hour in the full sun and no apparent breeze whatsoever as the bus never went faster than 2mphAngry Apart from that, we had a loverly time meeting up with friends in Hyde Park, but were a bit Shock at the price of a pedalo - £24 for a family of 4 for half an hour!

MrsS, what's not to like about uniform? Saves a lot of hassle in the morning!

Off to find the frumpy fred...

bigTillyMint · 24/07/2012 19:12

Cremola, I would have paid £££ for a bit of your rain at 5pm!

Cremolafoam · 24/07/2012 19:21

Nooo BTM - there comes a time when rain is no longer 'good for the garden'!Grin
No proper sun here since may 28th -just muggy drizzle or catastrophic flooding.

Poor moggies are cowering in the greenhouse.Sad

MrsSchadenfreude · 24/07/2012 19:29

Apparently the trousers have to be "tailored slacks" and that has put her off.

MrsSchadenfreude · 24/07/2012 19:30

Does the expression "tailored slacks" have any place on a Style and Beauty thread?

bigTillyMint · 24/07/2012 19:37

DD has not worn a pair of trousers since starting secondary. She would only wear trousers at primary Confused

My mum wears tailored slacks (her exact words) and she is 81!

What school is this???? Doesn't sound like any near meSmile

Cremolafoam · 24/07/2012 19:57

If its like most primary schools it'll be any grey troosers . M& s does some half decent ones.
Haven't heard the word slacks in 20 years.
Some uniform lists are a laugh though- we get a photocopied a zillion times picture of Clarks Mary janes / wedge brogue from circa 1981.
Try getting those these daysFGS

bigTillyMint · 24/07/2012 19:59

Cremola, they sound like they might be in fashion now Grin

MrsSchadenfreude · 24/07/2012 20:29

Where are you, BTM? It's in Kingston.

Cremolafoam · 24/07/2012 20:33

Oh no completely industrial looking Grin
Clod hoppers as my dm used to say

bigTillyMint · 24/07/2012 20:34

Nowhere near Kingston - much nearer your London abode!
Is that the fabled girls grammar?

oldqueenie · 24/07/2012 20:35

where you would you plan to live mrs s if you come back to london?? are you coming back to a particular area where you already have a house or is the world your lobster?

MrsSchadenfreude · 24/07/2012 20:52

We have a flat in Lambeff, Oldqueenie, that we have never really lived in.

Trouble is, girls are in the IB system, so we have to find a school for them that does the Middle Years programme as well as the IB itself. DD2 would probably be OK in the UK curriculum, but DD1 will be too old to fit in to doing GCSEs when she comes back.

School is not grammar, BTM, it's an international school.

bigTillyMint · 24/07/2012 20:55

Ahh yes I think you may have told me that before!

beachyhead · 24/07/2012 21:37

Quite of the schools that are doing IB for sixth form are introducing it further down, but if she is coming back into year 10 next Sept then she will probably be fine for the two years, especially of they do the IGCSE course, then she can do IB at sixth form...

CointreauVersial · 24/07/2012 21:52

Slacks Grin

OP posts:
TheReturnOfStropperella · 24/07/2012 22:07

Grin at "tailored slacks". And thanks for the Chums catalogue, MrsS. I have Hotter in one hand and Chums in the other and all my hot flushes are under control. Luckily, I can type with my toes.
Am not surprised you are gibbering a wee bit, MrsS - it is rather a daunting task you have on your plate BUT you are more than equal to it. Any chance of bringing the dds over to view the slacks school? The slacks may look less horrible in RL than in one's imagination. Grin

I am feeling overwhelmed by having to work, do childcare, do my course and manage dh's anxiety about his upcoming treatment. It's not coming together particularly well at the moment. Mainly because I keep being very surly in the face of teenage tiresomeness and trying to be all things to all people. And I was absolutely not in the mood for mummy piffle in the park this pm. Ds had a great time jumping in the fountain and having a water fight etc with an army of friends and acquaintances. Dd hung about with some other moody teens. And I sat morosely (bundle of larfs, me) with a bunch of younger mums who were all tanned and smooth and lovely and not at all wibbly and raddled. "Fuck", I thought to myself several times in a crabby old lady sort of way.

I have now been to circuits and done lots of punching and I feel better now. Onwards and upwards.

TheReturnOfStropperella · 24/07/2012 22:07

Oi, I need that, CV Grin

bigTillyMint · 24/07/2012 22:14

I think the slacks are advertised in Chums!

I don't have any young, tanned and smooth mummy-friends/aquaintances - we are all wibbly and raddled - tis the only way to go Grin

TheReturnOfStropperella · 24/07/2012 22:29

Yes, I must get some new, more raddled friends Grin
