hi everyone! As I said, been invited to a wedding... None of my existing dresses fit me so I went dress hunting this evening, the one I loved was this one, but my husband thinks it looks like I'm one of the bridesmaids! And I have started second guessing myself.
What do you guys think??
Many thanks in advance :)

Agree with your husband

Househunter · 15/07/2012 00:31

It is a bit bridesmaidy but can you find out what colour the bridesmaids will be wearing? As long as its a different colour I reckon it would be fine.

BestIsWest · 15/07/2012 00:32

Is the clue in the word 'Bridal'? It is v nice though.

FannyFifer · 15/07/2012 00:32

Think it is a bit like a bridesmaid dress, sorry.

trixymalixy · 15/07/2012 00:40

It looks too bridal/bridesmaid to me. I would look for something else.

BBMs · 15/07/2012 00:41

I just tried it on coz I love that color and it fitted so well!! I thought that with black accessories would look much better.
Or maybe I could return that one and get this one instead??? I just loved the way it looks...
Btw, loads of "guest dresses" have the bridal tag in monsoon :S

It says bridal dress Confused

cocolepew · 15/07/2012 00:42

Oh xpost. Its a bit evening wearish.

JennerOSity · 15/07/2012 00:45

It looks like occasion wear - which is what a wedding requires as a guest. Unless you are the same colour as the bridesmaids I can't see it shouting "I wanted to be a bridesmaid" Wink Just because it has a bridal wear tag doesn't mean that's the first thing you would think if you saw someone walking around in it. I couldn't see it being worn in a nightclub but at a ball or wedding it would look fine on anyone IMO.

BBMs · 15/07/2012 00:54

Jennerosity, that's exactly what I thought... The theme colour is gold i guess (the ribbon of the invitation) and they are having an evening reception.
I think I will sleep on it and try it on tomorrow... I could actually live in it! Lol it's so comfy and fits right in the right places iykwim :)
Thanks for the replies.

I think it is quite evening ish and looks a bit bridesmaid ish - sorry!

ICutMyFootOnOccamsRazor · 15/07/2012 01:17

It's sold as a bridesmaid's dress! I wouldn't.

ToryLovell · 15/07/2012 11:52

Agree with Mr BBMs sorry

Itdidntworkout · 15/07/2012 15:23

It says silver, but looks white. I wouldn't be very happy if I were the bride.

thenightsky · 15/07/2012 15:25

It looks like a bridesmaid dress for sure.

TheEternalOptimist · 15/07/2012 15:28

When is the wedding? If it is a summer wedding, then you might be better to go for a more summery dress - that one is lovely but it looks more like a wedding/bridesmaid/cocktail dress.

valiumredhead · 15/07/2012 17:36

No no, far too bridesmaidy!

BackforGood · 15/07/2012 17:45

Agree with everyone else - it looks like a brides dress for someone who wants something non-traditional to me, which is also a look a lot of bridesmaids wear. Unless you are sure that neither the bride nor bridesmaids are wearing anything remotely similar, I'd go for something different.

MsOnatopp · 15/07/2012 18:53

Please don't wear this. It isn't suitable and the second link is not good either. Black to a wedding? Confused

Jackstini · 19/07/2012 14:49

Looks quite bridal to me rather than bridesmaid - unsuitable for a wedding guest imho.
Did you find anything else?

EugenesAxe · 19/07/2012 14:59

I agree in that I think it would be OK if you did mix it up with some black accessories. It is/does look like a bridesmaid dress but if the colour isn't the same as the wedding party I think it's OK. Loads of people wear silk evening dresses to weddings. I also know quite a few people that have worn black to weddings, styled with gold or other brightish colour accessories... but I prefer the colour you bought TBH.

I think if you were to put it with a really chunky necklace and/or bracelet then it would make it suitably pazzazzy to not make you look like a bridesmaid.

Could you or DH ask the bride her opinion?! Or someone close to her?

saintlyjimjams · 19/07/2012 15:02

Is it silver or white? It looks very white. If whiteish then I would avoid. If it's actually silver then I would choose a very contrasty non-bridal coloured shrug/cardi/jacket and accessories and go for it.

DuelingFanjo · 19/07/2012 15:03

it IS a bridesmaid dress Confused

corlan · 19/07/2012 15:39

If you wore that, I'd be half expecting you to jump up during the vows and start singing 'It should have been me!'

rainydaysarebad · 19/07/2012 17:27

Is this is a joke? Grin. You really wouldn't wear a white bridesmaid dress or a black dress to a wedding would you? Grin.

How about a nice maxi dress or a stylish jumpsuit instead? Confused....
