hi everyone! As I said, been invited to a wedding... None of my existing dresses fit me so I went dress hunting this evening, the one I loved was this one, but my husband thinks it looks like I'm one of the bridesmaids! And I have started second guessing myself.
What do you guys think??
Many thanks in advance :)

I'm going to a wedding in a few weeks and the dress code is black tie - it is quite a posh event. I was planning on wearing a black knee length dress - do you think that is OK? Maybe I could tone it down with accessories.

I've seen a lot of black at weddings.

Although thinking about it, the blackness has often been commented on in hushed tones 'wearing black? oh my'

If dress code is black tie then I think you could get away with a black cocktail dress, although I might go bright if I had the choice (financially I mean) just to avoid a potential faux pas.

I've been to a few black tie weddings. One I was bridesmaid so didn't have to worry another I wore a long, straight green silk dress.

Thanks for all the comments.
With pain in my heart, I have returned the dress... Only because in the last week I have lost a couple of cms all around and the dress was just that tiny bit too big and kind of didn't hold right around the boobs :S
Btw, the dress was silver, didn't look white at all. When I tried on last Sunday with black chunky accessories and black shoes looked really nice and even my husband changed his mind LOL
I have wore black to weddings before, with bright colour accessories or gold... It looks more classy IMO rather than those dresses that make you look like you are just going out clubbing.
The bride is wearing a big white puffy dress and the bridesmaids are wearing long gold gowns... As I said, only returned the dress coz didn't fit as nice as it did a week ago.
Thanks for sharing your opinions. Btw, I'm married and I have no intention of being a bridesmaid ever :)

That's a shame, I thought it was lovely! If I wasn't pregnant I would have bought it myself but who knows what shape I'll be in 6 months time. Grin
