I think the main difference is that all of us on this thread have probably been obsessed with style and beauty for most of our lives, devouring magazines, spending time shopping, trying on outfits, making mistakes!
I doubt you could look frumpy even if you tried decam. You are so stylish, and have great posture.

Personally my hair needs to be very groomed, or I look frumpy. Before straighteners, I had it cropped, because with any length it goes wavy, in patches, and looks awful on me. But marsha, yours is gorgeous and suits your style and personality. We are all different, and having had my style day I can appreciate all of that.
I'm going to stop making sweeping generalizations when pissed though!

georgina, so sorry for your friend. I saw a poster up in Crewe station last time I was there. The not knowing would be the worst I would think; the lack of closure, or a funeral. Same with the McCanns.

FritziGreenEyes · 20/07/2012 12:09

Happy wife, happy life! is MrOllie's mantra Smile

MarshaBrady · 20/07/2012 12:10

Yours really suits you Bloss. It's you iyswim.

I'm all about the individual style thing so it I love it that each of you have a different vibe and look. It works well.

GeorginaWorsley · 20/07/2012 12:23

Thanks to everyone for their kind words.
No real ongoing investigation ,too hot and over grown to search now.A Turkish team volunteered, but such is the relationship between the nations that the Greeks wont let them.
Cheshire search teams been out a couple of times to no avail.
She knows he is dead, but would like to find him Sad

suburban · 20/07/2012 13:22

Oh Georgina Sad I actually googled the story a couple of weeks ago and assumed because it was so stagnant he had been found. Your poor poor friend.

Decameron good for you. I am terrified DP will fall asleep on the M4 one day. I would like to blame his boss, but really I know it's mainly because he is a perfectionist and won't let things lie.

Glad you like the boots MrsCB for all my talk I haven't actually ordered any NL boots yet. Need to decide which ones I want.

AmberNectarine · 20/07/2012 13:39

navy jalouse, guys!

alwaysrunninginheels · 20/07/2012 14:29

blue I am excited for you too re those shoes as I ordered them at 4am and am hoping they are fab. Not sure re Zara shoe sizing so ordered 40s as I am a 39 in "generous" shoes. Is Zara shoe sizing like the clothing....ie tiny?
mrscb I ordered those boots the other day too but are yet to arrive so pleased to hear they are good in real life will ignore the fact ordering ash Thelma's was meant to be instead of both of those

Thank you all for your kind words re ds. He had a brain scan this morning and the doctor doing the initial "quick look" said there were no large masses so he had a contrast medium injected and then more scans looking at his nerves supplying eyes etc which the neurologist will look at in detail and tell us about on Monday. A bit of a wait but I am less panicked than yesterday and ds was amazing at the hospital!

And on a trivial front being up from 4am meant I was well dressed for the occasion!

Decameron · 20/07/2012 14:46

That's just awful, Georgina.

Glad your DS seems to be ok, Always.

Thanks Bloss. I now have (temporarily) swishy hair courtesy of DD2 sleeping! I spent a fortune on comics, snacks and Minnie Mouse toy DD1 spotted. I also bumped into my backup babysitter in the village and she said she is around most of the summer. Phew!

Some interesting comments on the Frumpy thread.

I like those navy Jalouse.

Decameron · 20/07/2012 14:53

Work trousers for Hopefully?

Hopefully · 20/07/2012 15:10

Always that sounds positive. At least you get to relax a teeny weeny bit over the weekend. Make sure you have plenty of wine in!

Decam It has literally never occurred to me to have green work trousers. Love it! Might try to wrangle a trip to Brighton on the weekend to try on...

notyummy · 20/07/2012 16:02

Always- so pleased that the initial reports are relatively good news. You must be very proud of DS for being so brave!

Deca- I am not surprised you made your point with DH. I think perhaps it can be easy to get so caught up in the role of being the ambitious bread winner that you miss the point of enjoying the journey rather than always looking getting to the next destination. By that I mean constantly putting more time in at work to get promoted/earn more because a. you get a feeling of self worth from doing well at work and b. you want to provide for your family and give them the best opportunities. It is a real cliche, but not having any time to enjoy the family and home you are providing for means the priorities are slightly off. I know people who earn good salaries are required to be committed, but I think amongst men in particular there is a bizarre kind of competitiveness about the 'presenteeism' (always being there.). It takes really strong leadership to address that and a strength of character to do things differently sometimes. DH has many faults (as do I!) but I know as a leader at work he is trying really hard to focus on people being much more efficient with their working practices and not being there for lengthy periods. He goes round the building asking people why they are still there if anyone is left when he goes asking them why they are still there. Pretty much everyone who works to him has a family so he is keen that they focus on getting stuff done during the working day and then leaves. That said, he is out of the house by 6am most mornings, but home by 7pm latest to see DD unless he is travelling.

Enough- what a sermon!! It is tricky I know.

I have a boot question (its raining and ive just had to play 18 holes of mini golf.....)
Do we think Top Shop and KG will be doing their pistol alikes this year???? Love the new contrast Pistols in Black with the wooden heel and am wondering if others will be doing something similar?

Navy Ash boots look good Amber

Had a v quick look at the new Wrap stuff. Liked the long Bella cardi but its cotton which puts me off.

Always glad you had a positive experience today. Well done DS for being so good. Fingers crossed all is well on Monday.

Hopefully · 20/07/2012 17:48

Ollie I'd be amazed if they don't - they were so successful this season.

Am absolutely knackered, seriously busy day. Had DS1's nursery graduation today, which was lovely but a bit sad - so much bloody work to settle him in, and now we're moving! All his teachers were lovely though, and seemed pleased with the little gifts I made which I filled with mini lip balms, hand cream and chocolate bars. In hindsight, making 17 individual gifts during a week in which I had to achieve approximately 75,000 other things wasn't exactly Wise, but it was nice to give something personal - DS1 chose the fabrics and did a painting to go with it.

Busy weekend ahead - touching up paint in the house, trying to get on top of some decluttering in preparation for moving, ugh. I suspect it is not going to involve much style.

alwaysrunninginheels · 20/07/2012 18:03

Wow hopefully those gifts are gorgeous!!!! Bet the teachers were delighted.

alwaysrunninginheels · 20/07/2012 18:05

Anyone know is Revlon related to Clinique at all.?Have one of those chubby clinique lip things and picked up a remarkably similar looking Revlon one today at a fraction of the price and wondered if there is a link between the companies?

DonaAna · 20/07/2012 18:07

Liked the navy Jalouses! What are their soles like?

Outfit this afternoon: floral Only skinnies, watermelon Maxmara tunic, amazing sky blue Benetton mock ostrich ballerinas (20 euros - clearance pile in Rome!!!). Lovely afternoon in a happening and arty neighborhood (spent some time swinging in an amazing Fatboy hammock under an apple tree admiring hipster mommies with their babies - cue: clear plexi eyeglasses). Then went to a local library, a treat, they are so good here. Got some style books and guidebooks on Armenia and Baku for some armchair travelling (just in case it starts to rain). DD1 is very much into ballet so we got lots of ballet books for her. She wants to be Firebird Grin

Just read the entire 'frumpy' thread
Inspired by it, I will be wearing bootcuts tomorrow. Does anyone want to join me? Grin

AmberNectarine · 20/07/2012 18:46

Argh. DH just phoned. A prospective client has asked him today to pitch for some work on Monday, so he will miss the torch and I will have to take both kids to the fecking family festival in the thronging madness on my own. Again. He has promised me a big present. Will be furnishing him with NaP and Matches wishlists tonight. Unlike decam, I can be bought.

Spent afternoon at soft play with kids. I have genuinely never seen so many pairs of black leggings outside of Primark. Use your imaginations ladies! Now that, to me, is frumpy.

blossoming · 20/07/2012 18:46

How can I find out if a website is fake or not? This balenciaga outlet shop cannot be true can it? (Tell me it isn't or I'm going for cobalt...)

AmberNectarine · 20/07/2012 18:49

bloss if that is fake as fake can be, I'm afraid.

Hopefully · 20/07/2012 18:50

Any website that has the phrase 'in a different era period of time' in the intro is definitely not kosha.

AmberNectarine · 20/07/2012 18:51

Would be nice though, wouldn't it. Best discount on Balenciaga I have seen was 30% at Browns. Not bad actually, considering they are a brand so rarely found at a discount.

dexter73 · 20/07/2012 18:51

I just looked at that bag site and the tiny writing at the bottom of the page is hilarious - have a read!

MarshaBrady · 20/07/2012 18:53

Amber what will you get?

Bloss I think fake too.

Dona I am sans boot cuts, even very old ones. Before premium denim I used to wear Cheap Mondays.

I am looking for a dress tomorrow. Will have a look in Liberty.

AmberNectarine · 20/07/2012 18:54

When the morrow comes you see something new. Deep, that.

AmberNectarine · 20/07/2012 18:55

Dunno, marsha. Will give him my wishlists and he can knock himself out. What kind of dress?
