I loved how Caitlin Moran recognised the significance of Jilly.

Sorry missed Hopefully's post. MyWardrobe tweeted it. They clearly knew I was just about to go into a dull meeting and wanted me distracted.

SE a lot of the classics are free on Kindle.

Decameron · 18/07/2012 21:37

Thanks Choogirl, you've saved me a trip. Shirley is fab. Life is too short to stuff a mushroom! Lovely Joseph dress. Matches it is, they have a lot of new stock in. I'm thinking of this dress.

This Boden top arrived, I like it in navy but it is very wishy washy in periwinkle or whatever the colour is.

I love a knitted dress decam. Looks like a good one!
Great shopping choo!
Haven't read any Jilly, may do some downloading for my kindle ready for my holiday. Where should I start?

girlsofsummer · 18/07/2012 22:20

Lovely dress Choo I heart Joseph really rate it for workwear.

SOme wonderful advice here today and wise words indeed.

After a fairly hectic bad day work/DH row wise and trip to school event with DDs while trying to BB clients at same time (!) I have totally calmed down now after having a lovely visit with the gorgeous Red and her scrumptious children who are really great kids. Now off to pack for uber early cab. Hoping this is the last of my work related travel for while - hate it I really do, the whole family falls apart at the seams when I go anywhere just not worth it!

Night all
xx

SE I contemplated the etienne bag, but the square pockets annoy me. Love the zip though. Would quite like to see it in RL.

Choo love that dress. Would be ordering it if I had spare cash right now. Is it a warm toned browny burgundy, or a cool reddish/bluey burgundy?

Must go to bed. Have been trying to nail my To Do list, which is beginning to seriously stress me out. Have insane amounts to do in the next 10 days. Having spent entire day since about 6am on various things, I have just spent an hour finishing sewing the binding on a quilt for DS2. Is so nice to produce something that will be treasured for years in amongst all the other madness.

DH has been knocked sideways by a horrible bug, which hasn't helped. He is so run down from getting up with DS2 every morning at 5am-ish - he gets so stressed if I try to help, although he finally allowed me to do a couple of mornings this week.

girls hope the trip isn't too stressful and family doesn't disintegrate too much while you're away

AmberNectarine · 18/07/2012 22:57

You should come to Wimbledon Village decam, we have a DVF shop, dontcha know?!

I read any old shit, from 50 shades to Tacitus' Annals of Rome. I think everything has it's value. I read the Trilogy catalogue today. That had a lot of value.

blue2711 · 18/07/2012 22:57

Oh me too, love Rupert. I am a secondary English teacher but not snobbish about literature at all; love the fact I can enjoy Chaucer / Jilly / Tolstoy / Grazia etc etc. And if I can find pleasure in reading year 7 stories complete with poor spelling and all the repetitive gore (I only taught boys) then I can definitely overlook the not exactly skilful writing of Fifty Shades and enjoy Mr Grey. I wouldn't be able to stand not reading something that everybody is talking about either.

Right, I'm getting those pink boots. Great suggestions dona, thank you.
Wow, some great bags darkness.
Hope work trip goes ok gos and you're back home swiftly.

Some lovely slippers on 40bum blog this evening. I like the Steve Madden studded ones. Fancy them and a leopard pair for A/W but not allowed until I eBay unsuccessful ballerinas (KG gold and PB black lace). Seem to make far more mistakes with shoes than clothes, wonder why.

Lunch out tomorrow with a little seen and very glam friend. Am lying in bed musing on outfit! Night all.

MarshaBrady · 18/07/2012 23:02

I don't get to read these days. I am so spaced out by the end of the day I find even reading too onerous.

Light hearted fluff can be good.

darknessvisible · 18/07/2012 23:09

I agree, lighthearted books can be well-written though. I've read most of the Cooper oeuvre Wink and she's a very skilful and funny writer (have to agree that Polo is the best). I'm fond of a good detective story too - anyone a fan of Dorothy Sayers?

MarshaBrady · 18/07/2012 23:16

Indeed. Well-written and light.

Haven't read that though.

I prefer it to laboured and literary. I'm thinking Murakami (but someone might love him!)

Russianred · 18/07/2012 23:20

Aah thanks Gos - right back atcha. I can confirm that Gos and girls are convivial and gorgeous hostesses. DS very sad to leave!

I have read no Jilly Cooper - this is a travesty and I will see to it. My Mum has given me her unwanted Kobo - no idea how to use it, but I'll be downloading some Jilly ASAP.

Have ordered a lovely shirt from Whistles, which looks shocking on the model, but saw on a lady as I sat in the hot car yesterday - worn untucked with rolled-up sleeves and unbuttoned at top and was gorgeous and breezy. Will wear as such and also with grey jumper over top to be worn with animal skinnies. Would really recommend - looks nothing like the pic.

Lovely dress Choo.

Master and Margarita is next in the pile of books DH insists I read - he rates it in his top 3. Not sure Jilly Cooper features there.

Russianred · 18/07/2012 23:22

Whistles shirt - I almost don't want to link as the picture is such a bad representation!

MarshaBrady · 18/07/2012 23:44

It looks really nice Red. The second picture (I assume from Whistles) is just way better than the first!

Hopefully · 19/07/2012 05:52

Marsha I feel the same - I love love love reading, but I just don't have the headspace for it right now.

Red that shirt looks like it would look fab styled exactly as you describe.

I have had a little under 6 hours sleep. Silly baby and his 5am body clock. He's back asleep, but I can never nod off again.

DD2 is up at 5am almost every day, the health visitor told me to ignore her until 6 but I can't and anyway she'd wake DD1. I'd be happy to allow DH to get up with her but he never offers! He's too tired from work, in fairness.

When do you move, Hopefully?

That is a very good idea, Amber, I always tend to go to the Richmond branch as that's closer but I love Wimbledon. We almost moved to South Park Gardens so I did extensive research in Wimbledon village. Wink

I saw that shirt the other day, Red, I like it. I have it in white from last year.

AmberNectarine · 19/07/2012 07:27

Fair play to DH he does take the early AM hit, but then he is up for work anyway.

Aw, decam we'd have been practically neighbours!

hopefully hope DH better soon.

Never read any JC, must amend.
