Inspired by replies on another thread-

I LOVE perfume-never leave the house without it.

I am attracted to very strong musky or woodsy smells.

At the moment I have-

Boudoir
Knowing
Agent provacateur
Naughty alice
Samsara
Mitsouko

But if I could only wear one perfume for the rest of my life it would definately be.......Samsara!!

What is your forever perfume?

ginghamfish · 06/07/2012 11:40

I recently bought some Mitsouko and it smelt horrible but everyone on here seems to love it. V. confused.

CuriousMama · 06/07/2012 11:42

You won't know mine, Azure by Estee Lauder.

Cazzmags · 06/07/2012 11:58

Calvin Klein Obsession is my all time fave. Worn it since circa 1985ish and although I have tried so many others since then I always go back to it. When I wear it it evokes memories of so many wonderful evenings and happy times, I love it!

smoothieooo · 06/07/2012 12:04

I really like Bulgari Blu for evening, but during the day like to have a very liberal spritz of Clarins Eau Dynamisante. I pass a Boots on my way to work and did go through a phase where I'd shamelessly squirt Chanel No. 5 on my wrists, neck and scarf every single day!

Mindyourownbusiness · 06/07/2012 12:16

I too love Chanel Chance. I first smelt it in a Duty free shop years ago and DH went to buy it for me at Christmas but accidentally got me Chanel Madamoiselle instead as he couldnt remember which one it was.

Best mistake he ever made - absolutely love it and so does he. turns him into some sort of Mills and Boon corset ripping type character.

Blush Grin

Disclaimer. It only has that effect on him when l am wearing it Grin. or so he tells me . Hmm

Mindyourownbusiness · 06/07/2012 12:22

l just accidentally posted that on some serious thread about childrens vaccinations - bloody computer really slow today so kept going back a page to retry and post it and suddenly there l was in the middle of this really serious thread full of angst and concerns about childrens health. I came out like a bat out of hell Grin

toffeefee · 06/07/2012 12:26

Flowerbomb by Viktor and Rolf. I am down to my last couple of squirts and hoping to last until I go through duty free next week!! Grin

Also like Romance by Ralf Lauren and Fresh Fig by Arran Aromatics.

AimingForElegant · 06/07/2012 12:42

Armani Code EDP. I think it is the one that suits me best; I love some of the other fragrances but they just don't sit right.

Mindyourownbusiness · 06/07/2012 12:45

toffee l do similiar. I save a nearly empty bottle to take on hols with me and then just use it up and throw bottle away while l'm there. End up smelling like a brothel on last day as cant bear to throw it with any left in it. One less thing in suitcase to bring home and dont have to worry about my nice new full bottle getting broke either - that is waiting for me when l get home.

suzydelarosa · 06/07/2012 13:45

So many to choose from. Of all the ones I've worn and still love, my faves are:

Paris YSL
Petite Cherie & L'eau Hadrien - Annick Goutal
Calyx by Prescriptives - used to LOVE it
am crazy about almondy scents like: Le Labo Ambrette and
lemony ones like: Lemon Cloud

I have become obsessed with buying samples from an American based company called Luckyscent that stock hard to find perfumes. I honestly don't work for them but ordering a sample bag every month is my wee treat. Check them out at www.luckyscent.com

moonblushtomato · 06/07/2012 13:53

Anyone got any tips on how to make perfume last longer?

The only I know which really lingers (could still smell it the morning after in the house after a friend had worn it - smells awful on me unfortunately!) is Agent Provocateur.

CuriousMama · 06/07/2012 15:29

They who know, say layer yourself in the fragrance. Body wash etc...

Dropdeadfred · 06/07/2012 15:39

Wear perfume when possible rather than eau de toilette - its stronger so smell lasts longer

GetOrfMoiiLand · 06/07/2012 15:51

That is really interesting re l'Heure Bleu - I remember reading something about it in an India Knight column years ago.

Anyway apparently it is called that because it was created at the dawn of the first world war, 'the blue hour' describing the feeling at the time. It always reminds me of that evocative saying which some politician said at the start of the first world war 'the lamps are going out all over europe, we will not see them lit again in our lifetime'.

A bit depressive sounding, but I think it is a wonderful history for a perfume.

PoppyAmex · 06/07/2012 17:27

"Fracas" by Piguet. It's 60 years old but still the best.
Followed by Serge Lutens "Ambre Sultan"

guccigirly · 06/07/2012 21:26

Mindyourownbusiness - what a funny post ! Corset ripping DH, fabulous!

My favourite perfume was Dune for 10 years, then my MIL said to me one day, what's that lovely perfume you are wearing? I told her and she promptly went out and bought a bottle. Me and my MIL then had the same smell for a year and I thought it was just wrong for my DH for myself and his Mother to smell the same so I stopped wearing it.

I have never settled with one perfume since and my MIL is still wearing it 14 years later! I was hijacked.

However I have recently discovered Cartier perfumes and they are lovely and musky. I also recently bought Burberry Body and I absolutely love Calvin Klein Euphoria which smells very mysterious.

GetOrfMoiiLand · 06/07/2012 22:02

I have always wondered what Fracas smells like - Cameron Cook wears it by the bucket in Rivals.

HappyGirlNow · 06/07/2012 22:48

Armani Mania - love love love it! Grin

PoppyAmex · 07/07/2012 09:57

GetOrf, Fracas is heavy on the tuberose and very heady, really timeless.

Most women ask what I'm wearing and tend to compliment me on it, but weirdly it's usually a "love or hate" scenario with men.

It's a brilliant scent, very few people wear it and it feels pretty unique.

LizzieTaylor · 07/07/2012 18:13

chanel allure

JulesJules · 07/07/2012 18:25

Interesting.

I think the reason that Guerlain perfumes feature so prominently on this thread is not particularly that they are very popular, but that they are just those sorts of perfumes which inspire slavish devotion. Grin

I like l'Heure Bleu too, and also Heritage which I buy for DH (and then pinch it) and I loved Shalimar Light, now discontinued.

Alargeglassofred · 07/07/2012 20:07

Hermes Kelly Caleche. Beautiful and individual

Devonnaire · 07/07/2012 20:25

Charlie blue

anniewoo · 07/07/2012 20:54

Wild Musk by Coty- cheap as chips but gorgeous
Or Virgin Island Water by Creed
I

ReshapeWhileDamp · 07/07/2012 22:19

Jules - I try samples of whichever 'old' Guerlain scents I can when I come across them (not that easy, they're often hard to find) and I agree - I think they are fiendishly composed and have an addictive effect on the user. Grin They are very 'complicated' and seem to change on you depending on mood or weather.

Mitsouko was Thatch's fave, wasn't it? I'm turned off trying it for that reason, silly I know. Grin

I think I remember reading, again in India Knight, that tuberose-based perfumes are men-repellers. Women love the smell, men hate it. Confused
