Inspired by replies on another thread-

I LOVE perfume-never leave the house without it.

I am attracted to very strong musky or woodsy smells.

At the moment I have-

Boudoir
Knowing
Agent provacateur
Naughty alice
Samsara
Mitsouko

But if I could only wear one perfume for the rest of my life it would definately be.......Samsara!!

What is your forever perfume?

Btw - to anyone even a little interested in scents, I must recommend [www.amazon.co.uk/Perfumes-The-Guide-Luca-Turin/dp/1846681278/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1341512367&sr=8-1 Perfumes: The Guide] by Luca Turin and Tania Sanchez.

Somebody gave it to me as a present a few years ago and I thought 'wtf?' But it's fascinating - informative and rather funny.

For instance Miel de Bois by Serge Lutens is described thus:

'Phenylacetic acid smells like honey in dilution, like urine in concentration. Miel de Bois gets the balance drastically wrong and smells like a New York sidewalk in July. A very small percentage of people find it floral and don't know why the rest of us are howling.'

Boucheron.

DH is always buying me perfume, I have a drawer of it. But I only ever use Boucheron.

Oops - Perfumes: The Guide

RoxyRobin · 05/07/2012 19:35

I gather there are a lot of fakes on ebay, though. You'd have to be wary.

Lovecat · 05/07/2012 19:40

Another vote for Viv Westwood's Boudoir - love it. Sooo sexy.

I also like Obsession - I only have to catch a whiff to be transported back to the 1980's...

DesperatelySeekingSedatives · 05/07/2012 19:42

Ralph Lauren Ralph or Raloh Lauren Romance. Big Ralph fan here Grin

catgirl1976 · 05/07/2012 19:50

Tom Ford Black Orchid

Love it. Always get comments

Is amazing

donotsquandertime · 05/07/2012 19:51

Alien- - have been stopped twice when out and asked what i was wearing, love it

NeedToSleepZZZ · 05/07/2012 19:55

Has to be Stella In Two, seems to be quite rare to find it now but it's my absolute favourite, always get comments on it.

Does anyone remember the old original Monsoon (in a bottle like a blue walnut whip Grin)? I loved that as a teenager.

Hepsibaaah · 05/07/2012 20:01

Mitsouko.
Worn it for years, is my 'signature' scent ie everyone can smell me long before they see me....is that a good thing??

all4u · 05/07/2012 20:14

Beautiful for me and Sagamore for DH

LIttleMcF · 05/07/2012 20:19

Oh I love perfume. Love it love love it. I've got some little kits to train my 'nose' to identify notes and the like. I use phrases like 'dry down' and everything.

Current faves;

Annick Goutal Eau De Charlotte
SJP Covet
Laura Biagiotti Roma
Alien
Annick Goutal Eau D'Hadrien
212 Sexy (hate the name though)

If I could choose just one, it would be Laura Biagiotti Venezia, which was just perfect. It was naturally discontinued, though re-released last year as a pale version of what it once was. I used to love L'eau D'Issey in my 20's, but don't think I could wear that now.

Love reading what others wear...inspired to seek out a few scents that I've forgotten about.

lisa1968 · 05/07/2012 20:20

Eternity by Calvin Klein
adore it-reminds me of good times, holidays,ex boyfriends(whoops!),ex husband (WHOOPS!!)......better stop there!!

BuntyCollocks · 05/07/2012 20:20

Marc Jacobs by Marc Jacobs. Love it. Was my wedding day perfume.

ArtVandelay · 05/07/2012 20:21

Next time I go to duty free I'm going to get some Mitsouko!

My all time favourite is Tann Rokka Kisu. Its just so stinky and gorgeous and people always say lovely things about it. I've never met anyone else who wears it and I hope thats just because its difficult to get hold of and not because it smells like cat pee or something. I wear it everyday and I could literally bath in it mmmmm aaah... :)

GnomeDePlume · 05/07/2012 20:23

Wright's Coal Tar Soap

Unfortunately all perfume ends up smelling like talc to me (when I can smell it on other people). My preference now is to smell clean.

JaxTellerIsMyFriend · 05/07/2012 20:25

Jimmy Choo perfume is lovely.

It is my absolute faourite, had loads of compliments when wearing it. Suits me perfectly, although smells like cat pee on some friends of mine who love it on me then try it and it reacts differently on their skin.

willowstar · 05/07/2012 20:27

Esperys by E.

. I used to own about 20 perfumes before I had my daughter and went off pretty much all of them while I was pregnant, I mean they really made me feel ill. Now 3 yrs and another pregnancy later I still can't stand most of them except Prada and Midnight Poisen. Strangely I love Esperys which is heavily rose scented and before I couldn't stand rose scented products.

NoWayNoHow · 05/07/2012 20:33

If I had to choose one, it would be Davidoff Cool Water.

Closely followed by Thierry Muglier Angel and Issey Miyake L'eau D'Issey

sunshinenanny · 05/07/2012 20:46

Anais Anais, Bluebell by Penhaligan, Lair du Temps all beautiful evocative perfumes.

LIttleMcF · 05/07/2012 21:03

Forgot about Prada - gorgeous, with a truly lovely bottle.

Renniehorta · 05/07/2012 21:44

I am so glad that Mitsouko has so may fans. I thought I was alone. I felt like a kind of a freak from an earlier age. I could just bathe in it.

GetOrfMoiiLand · 05/07/2012 22:09

I quite like the old fashioned-ness of just wearing one perfume.

I like Guerlain scents and am stuck in my ways so won't try any other perfume house.

My absolute favourite is l'Heure Bleu as said upthread and have adored it since I sprayed some on myself in Harrods when I was 16 (and then ran away). I could never afford it then but started wearing it in my late 20s.

Mitsouko is lovely as well, and Shalimar (but as someone saifd upthread only smells nice after a few hours).

moonblushtomato · 05/07/2012 22:13

ADORE perfume too!!

Current faves are Thierry Mugler Womanity (lots of comments) and Lidl's (YES, I said Lidl!) Suddenly (LOADS of comments)

Other gorgeous scents I've loved in recent times:
Nina
Alien
Next Define
Estee Lauder Pleasure Delights (discontinued I think)

MrsBaggins · 05/07/2012 22:15

Paul Smith Rose
I get comments every single day I wear this - I love it.
