Self tan?

flowwithit · 01/07/2012 17:42

I tried another thread but not much going on so thought I would try different title. I'm hoping to find a more natural type tanning lotion not spray as I hate those. St tropez naturals is out due to overpowering smell so I also looked at the new utan range Marbella bronze lotion which sounds nice. Have you tried it? Any other recommendations please?

A friend of mine raves about Xen tan. It looks good on her.

flowwithit · 01/07/2012 21:04

Oh yes thanks I have heard of that will go and investigate.

I second Xen Tan. Best one I've ever used and it doesn't have the biscuity smell. It smells fruity.

noddyholder · 01/07/2012 21:10

I did St Moritz the other night and the colour and lack of streaks is amazing

flowwithit · 01/07/2012 21:18

Sorry but not heard of st moritz where is it from ?

here It is the absolute cheapest and best and I have used them all over the years and paid ££££££££££ but never had this result

Pelicano · 01/07/2012 22:11

I did one leg in St Moritz and one in St Tropez.

St. M won for for more natural colour although didn't last as long, St T more yellowey. Would rather re-apply after a few days than have patchy bits that last longer.

I find Xen tan still smells a bitHmm

Pelicano · 01/07/2012 22:11

My Tesco has St Moritz

tyaca · 01/07/2012 22:55

I tried st moritz for first time this week. Got the medium colour, ifiam rather than spray and used the applicator mitt they do. Really impressed. Very easy application, great colour, no streaks. I've only used gradual tanners for years cause of hassle of proper tans but am now converted.

tyaca · 01/07/2012 22:55

Foam not ifiam

flowwithit · 01/07/2012 23:03

Great like that it's not expensive like the others. Tesco tomorrow if I have time. Thanks

St Tropex have a new one out . Comes in a dark brown container with the usual turquoise lid.

I'm a big fan of the St Morritz on price and colour. But, it doesn't last that long on me and if I go swimming, I get that "wearing off" patchiness. Last week went into Boots to ask a) which tan lasts well and doesn't look so unsightly when 'fading'? Was directed to the new St Tropez.

I bought it at Superdrug in the end, as it was on offer at half price. It claims to give you a STREAK FREE, DARKEST-FOR-YOUR-INDIVIDUAL-SKINTYPE-TAN.

I tried it on Thursday. Today, I still have a non-orange tan, not a streak in sight (and I'm a bit hopeless at application) and so far, no patchy fade. I shower morning and evening so, it gives you an idea of what my "tan" goes through.

I'd recommend because it appears to last longer than others,
THERE IS NO SMELL beyond a kind of fruity smell on application and after wearing overnight, NO BISCUITY BEDROOM AROMA or tanned sheets! Xen-tan (for me) had the tell tale tan smell after the "almond" top not wore off and my clothes turned orange!

I'm impressed.....very impressed!

AnnaMosity · 02/07/2012 09:44

i do classic saint t
its all in the application

moisturise feet knees and ankles

rub on really fast in front of full lenght mirrors
rub a lot

thats it
my legs are amaaaazingly well self tanned- people always say ' REALLY?"

flowwithit · 02/07/2012 12:08

Thanks Eliza22 I will also have a look at new st tropez because that's the problem I've had with tans not lasting more than 2 days, staining clothes and horrid smell !

OP posts:
flowwithit · 02/07/2012 12:13

BTW old st tropez doesn't give me much colour at all no idea why.
Zen tan gives me colour but has a really strong smell which I don't like.
Also tried fake bake too messy doesnt last and amber solaire not much colour.
Hope to find one that suits me eventually.
Thanks for the recommendations.

I like st tropez but the colour not as realistic. Plus can't be bothered with all teh faff moisturising etc with st m literally no effort at all!

noddyholder · 02/07/2012 14:40

Is the new ST Tropez a mousse?

AnnieMated · 02/07/2012 14:42

The best one by miles is He-Shi I think, it comes with a mitt and you just smooth it on. Did read an article though about a new one that all the celebs are raving about called pHenomenal which apparently lasts for 3 weeks, Boots has apparently almost sold out already...

Shakey1500 · 02/07/2012 14:45

I also did one leg in St Moriz, just as a trial run. Looked great, though more practise needed on the knee area. I used the tanning mit as well. wasn't brave enough to do my face!

I was so hoping it wasn't going to be the day I was hit by a bus Grin

flowwithit · 02/07/2012 19:32

Has anyone tried the new phenomenal vita libereta from boots that claims to give medium tan for 2 wks! And it's perfume and paraben free

OP posts:
flowwithit · 02/07/2012 19:35

Sorry I didn't read below as it has already been mentioned.
I was going to try and get it tomorrow as it sounds like just what I wanted so I hope it's not all sold out.

Eliza22 · 02/07/2012 19:56

The new DARK St Tropez one comes in lotion, mousse and spray, I think. I have the lotion.

flowwithit · 04/07/2012 07:57

Went for st tropez dark lotion in the end as all sold out of phenomenal vita one. I read some bad reviews on that as well as it being really expensive for a small bottle.

Vani-t tans bronzing custard .it s exceptional - I ve tried lots. This never streaks and looks really natural - I swim 4 times a week and find with regular exfoliation it stays fine and avoids the patchy look Grin

Eliza22 · 04/07/2012 09:35

Flowwithit.... Good choice. I've reapplied this morning, after a six day "tan". I can honestly say, that I had non-patchy fade. I'd rather pay a bit more for a decent sized product with no tan "after smell" and no obvious self tan patches after 2 days' wear!

For me, even the Lloreal "no streaks, pleasant fragrance" new one, Golden Mousse it's called, smelt awful when I woke up the next morning and then all day, despite body lotion and a strong application of my Lancôme Tresor, I could smell damp biscuits. Yuk! Also, managed to streak on the backs of my legs.
