Self tan?

flowwithit · 01/07/2012 17:42

I tried another thread but not much going on so thought I would try different title. I'm hoping to find a more natural type tanning lotion not spray as I hate those. St tropez naturals is out due to overpowering smell so I also looked at the new utan range Marbella bronze lotion which sounds nice. Have you tried it? Any other recommendations please?

Have just ordered St Moritz and tanning mit on amazon. Will report back. Have been using Dove summer glow but although it smells lovely when it goes on, by next morning its got that horrible biscuity smell that I have to shower to get rid of. It's also a bit too subtle for the look I want.

flowwithit · 04/07/2012 19:17

That's good poppedoutforapintofmilk! let me know what you think of that one please. I have tried the gradual tans st tropez ,garnier and dove but they all fade so quick so one day your brown then white etc.
I'd like something easy to apply long lasting and without horrible smell of old biscuits or overpowering perfume which irritates my skin (asking too much!)Grin
Has anyone tried the Clinique ones?

Clinique smelled so bad, I binned it.

I had the spray one and a separate tinted one for the face. Smelly.

flowwithit · 04/07/2012 21:13

Thanks Elizza22 will strike that one off list then
Going to try the new one over the weekend when I've got time. Slightly worried it might be too dark or orange but looking forward to trying.

A word of caution with the St Tropez .... Like many self tans with guide tint....do not walk back from school, in the pouring rain, with no umbrella or jacket. I had to shower the whole lot off and start again. Was all spotty like a Dalmatian with the raindrops bouncing off my limbs.

It WASN'T raining, when we left home!

noddyholder · 04/07/2012 22:17

I have the vita liberata will do tomorrow and report back!

Pelicano · 05/07/2012 09:59

I got some Vita Liberata face tan from TK Maxx for £3,can't find anymore now though.
St Tropez gradual tan is free with either Glamour or Elle this month.

noddyholder · 05/07/2012 11:35

I find the gradual tans smudgy and not 'brown' iygwim

flowwithit · 05/07/2012 11:55

It's rained so much not sure why we are bothering to tan really! Laughing at the spotty Dalmatian look too Grin
Don't know how you managed to get hold of the vita tan lucky you. Is it the phenomenol 2-3 wk one?
Let me know if it's good and I might try ordering. Thanks

I have to use self tan because I am deathly pale. If only we could go back to the 17th and 18th centuries when a tan and being stick thin, said you were poor.

Am interested in the 2 week product....keep us updated, please?

noddyholder · 05/07/2012 12:11

Boots has shelves of it!

winefairy · 05/07/2012 12:35

Was sitting next to a girl on flight last week with the most natural looking fake tan I'd ever seen. It was brown with no hint of orange. She admitted it was St Moritz. Two other separate people also asked her about the gorgeous tan. It was that impressive. Plus it was a long dull flight

MistyRocks · 05/07/2012 12:36

st moriz is the Best for a dark tan, but it is really dark, and also messy and a pain to apply

but for an everyday golden tan i have been using the ambre solaire spray mist in the darkest one they do. its really easy and dries in seconds

flowwithit · 06/07/2012 08:07

Hmmm not really keen on using the sprays because I don't think it's good breathing it in, they make me wheeze.

OP posts:
Eliza22 · 06/07/2012 09:42

Winefairy, agreed. St M is a great colour but.... It does smell and that smell stays with you, faintly, even after washed off. The colour doesn't last that long IMO and it fades patchy.

flowwithit · 06/07/2012 20:33

Noddyholder have you tried the vita tan yet? We will have to keep this thread going for 2 wks because I can't believe it will really last that long. Perhaps on mingers who don't washGrin

hmmm yeah i know flow i tend to do my legs in one room then my body in another (while attempting to hold my breath) in an attempt not to choke on the stuff :o

noddyholder · 07/07/2012 14:58

No am doing tonight! Will then give updates Grin

whitelillies · 07/07/2012 15:03

Ohh was just in our local pharmacy and they have vita tan - the daily moisturiser one - girl in the pharmacy said she was wearing it and uses it lots and I have to say it looked lovely. They have the gel one thats tinted and untinted one .... I am nearly out of my vanit one.
Oh she said it didn't smell at all ......

flowwithit · 09/07/2012 08:03

I did st tropez dark lotion at weekend so far so good. Nice colour and not too smelly. SmileWill see how long it lasts.
Any other updates?

I've been trying to find which thread I posted on to say I'd just ordered St Mortitz and would report back. Phew it was this one! I got it in post on Sat and in preparation had been exfoliating and moisturising, so slapped it straight on. I found it easy to apply, especially as it's brown so you can see where you've put it. Rubbed it in really really thoroughly. It dried quite quickly and I just wore a loose t shirt for a few hours after. I had a shower before bed and was left with a lovely even tan (pretty natural looking.) It did start to smell biscuity within a few hours. Not as bad as most of the others I've tried (certainly less than the Dove, summer glow which I've just given up on). I am really pleased with it so far. Just have to see how it fades. So far I'm not patchy but will report back if it starts going into giraffe mode. I ordered the mitt but that hasn't arrived yet. I'm going to re-apply it on Tues or Weds. Certainly for the price it's good and I've had more success with it so far than with St Tropez etc,

flowwithit · 10/07/2012 08:01

Great I think I will try that one as well then. Let us know how long it lasts please. It would be good to find a cheaper one that works. St tropez dark is good but too many £ to keep buying.

poppedoutforapintofmilk · 10/07/2012 16:25

By yesterday I think the St Moritz had faded which meant it faded after 2 days. I did it again yesterday eve. It is v easy to apply so even if I have to use it every two or 3 days I don't mind really. It's gone on smoothly again apart from one elbow and the backs of my wrists where it looks too dark. Next time will use moisturiser in those areas just before applying. For the price it's pretty good and a nice colour (I'm naturally v pale.)

flowwithit · 12/07/2012 15:08

Like the st tropez dark colour but too worried too put on my face ? Has not lasted as I hoped either. Noddy I'm still waiting to hear about vita phenomenal was it worth it did it last?
