New thread!

The fake tan is on (with requisite orange patches, naturally) and hair is done. I'm on countdown to Big Night Out, aware that will have to get ready whilst putting 2 DC to bed.

40bum lady is wearing my black suede Zara sandals today. I heartily recommend. She goes out a lot, doesn't she?! Envy. I have a wardrobe full of going out clothes but not enough occasions to wear them all!

bloss is right: coats and warm jackets are the way forward. I am stupid; I have 20 odd blazers and lightweight jackets perfect for May to September but only 1 jacket and 2 coats I like for September to April. Must rectify.

Sounds great marsha. You are the sartorial opposite of me with your lovely colourful outfits. In fact I'm doing the early shift and doing some pinning, and getting a bit depressed at the mundanity of my wardrobe.
Having said that, I think my style is at odds with a lot of what I see in magazines and style pages, so I am pleased to note once again that it really doesn't matter. Because if Khloe Kardashian gan go out for her 28th birthday dressed head to toe in black, like this. So can I!

Love lazy Saturday mornings.
I'm sure there was something I was supposed to be doing at 5.45??

blossoming · 30/06/2012 07:48

Thank portia. Hope you have a lovely time.
I used to love Tom Cruise too, I am a child of Top Gun. In fact he was my first style crush Blush. Levi's check. White tee shirt, check. Raybans, check..

blossoming · 30/06/2012 07:52

Before I go, my White co linen vest is on sale here I really like it and have worn it loads. Normal White Co sizing apply...

ReineDeSaba · 30/06/2012 08:06

Morning!

Have been trying to waste some time on pinterest but keep losing connection.bah!

Another one with a bolter here.I have had DD2 narrowly miss being hit by a car as she ran into the road and a van was cutting the corner.Know that horrible feeling rufus has of reliving it over and over.

dona and rufus you both do my (other!) dream job.

Off to Stone Roses today in a flat with 3 guys..the romance of DH and I's first weekend away from the girls Hmm

Perhaps TC and John Travolta can get together then..

Will check out Episodes as love TG and SM

ReineDeSaba · 30/06/2012 08:13

I really wanted the WIT Topshop pleated green lace skirt but have missed the small sizes Sad

notyummy · 30/06/2012 08:46

Ollie- good luck with the parents.

Fairly lazy Saturday here too. DH is at the Airshow all day, so DD and I are pottering around the house this morning. Doing some exercise later though- must lose this weight!! Will study the weather forecast to decide what to wear to Airshow tomorrow. Raining here at the moment. Boo!

notyummy · 30/06/2012 08:49

Enjoy the Stone Roses Reine!

I had a friend as a teen who was a huge TC fan, but I could never get over the short thing (I was this height at 13!) I preferred Val Kilmer Top Gun....although having seen pics of him recently it is fair to say that TC has aged better than VK!

OllieinOrange · 30/06/2012 08:52

My first date was to the cinema to see Top Gun. We doubled dated with my best friend. All very sweet and innocent - took him an age to pluck up the nerve to put his arm around me. I loved the soundtrack too - used to listen to it on my walkman on the school bus. Highway to the Danger Zone anyone?

pickledsiblings · 30/06/2012 08:57

Reine, have a fab time with the lads Smile.

Bloss, I know what you mean, I see many beautiful outfits online and in magazines that would never in a million years work on me. Knowing your style/what suits you and loving your style are two different things.

Marsha, pleased your evening out happened at last and hope it won't be too long 'til the next time.

Portia, my best friend from school had a poster of TC on her wall, and I'm nearly the same age as you - he clearly has 'something'.

Have great Saturdays all - looking forward to seeing you in a dress MrsCB Smile.

MidnightinMoscow · 30/06/2012 09:15

Reine have a great time. DH has planned his outfit and left early doors, so if you see a 6ft Cumbrian in a Helly Hanson waterproof..thats him!

Good luck with your M&D staying Ollie.

It's so funny Bloss, because when I had the what colour gracie problem, all I could think was, "Well, if I had Bloss's wardrobe, I'd know exactly what colour to wear". I think that other people's clothes just seem more interesting than our own on the surface, but knowing what style suits you is the key - and so be it if it's a limited palate of colour. I have learnt though - I need to stop buying stripes!

Have a lovely time Portia.

I have a feeling we will have a birth announcement soon from Looby...exciting!

MidnightinMoscow · 30/06/2012 09:16

Revvin' up the engine Ollie Grin

pickledsiblings · 30/06/2012 09:18

Oh yes Ollie, hope the birthday party goes well and I have high hopes for this visit from you Mum (this is the one where they are staying in a hotel nearby, isn't it?). best of luck with it all - loving your Pinterest boards btw. Loving all of them in fact - it's Just so nice to have a peek in to everyone elses wardrobe, isn't it?

FritziGreenEyes · 30/06/2012 10:48

ollie Birthday party plans for DS1 and his friends sound great! Hope your parents' visit will go smoothly and the weather is summery so you can wear your new WC dress Smile.

Forgot what else I wanted to say... I already had a complete meltdown 30 seconds after getting up and discovering that there was not enough milk left for my morning cappuccino. Blush

Need to do some serious tidying today. DH has taken DD out for lunch and food shopping, so I can declutter in peace without her pulling every scrap of paper out of the bin bags. I'm definitely not a super-tidy person but I think the mess around me makes me feel a bit tense and sluggish.

Have great Saturdays everyone!

FritziGreenEyes · 30/06/2012 11:01

Top Gun and first dates reminded me that my first boyfriend (18) took me (just turned 15) out to the cinema to watch Platoon in 1986 Shock. Not sure what the rating of the film was but I had many nightmares after watching it.

Portia4 · 30/06/2012 11:31

When I met DH he had a red Porsche and a pair of aviators and defo used to listen to the theme music of Top Gun! I was smitten, superficial, moi?

notyummy · 30/06/2012 11:32

When I was 15 my best friend and I sneaked into the cinema to see Full Metal Jacket (an 18) and she was rigorously questioned about her age! I have been asked my age for alcohol/cinema etc since I was about 13, which is depressing really. I don't count in the US because they appear to card Octagenarians there. I do remember that Full Metal Jacket ends really suddenly (just cuts to a black screen with 'Paint it Black' playing, and we were a bit bemused about whether it had really finished or not! The same year we went to Glasgow on our own to see a matinee of ' Cat on a hot tin roof' that was on at one of the theatres and unbeknowns to us, there are two intervals in the play. We left at the second interval thinks it was the end and talked on the train on the way home about how profound the play was because it left the viewer to imagine what became of the characters Blush. Teenagers can be v pretentious.... Just in case you think we were particularly high brow, a more typical night out was hiding in the far end of the pub whilst I got served. Peach schnapps and lemonade, anyone ? Grin

She is still my best mate- one of the group i am of to Budapest with, and the sender of fabulous random parcels to cheer me up with make-up, books and running things that she finds for me.

notyummy · 30/06/2012 11:33

not been asked about my age...

rufus101 · 30/06/2012 11:46

Sounds very rosemantic (!) Reine!
Hope the parental inspection/ visit goes well Ollie. My Dsis and I were just discussing yesterday how very odd ours are. I was saying "surely we are not that peculiar?" and she was assuring me that we indeed were! I retorted that she might but I am clearly NOT! Grin
I do find it perplexing though. When does that happen?
NY how are you getting on with the sizzling? And the fake tan?
Keep meaning to say. Found theist amazing product in Tescos! (now, there's a surprise!) Barbara Daly face lift. Has an SPF and is moisturiser as well. I think it does what Clarins Beauty Flash Balm is supposed to do, but in my experience never has. IYKWIM
Anyway it's good stuff and I'm off to get another pot. An almost unheard of occurrence. II have the attention span of a Bichon Frise when it comes to beauty products and will buy whatever is marketed at me on the day.

rufus101 · 30/06/2012 11:47

iPhone tapping not very good as you can see!

Emo76 · 30/06/2012 14:37

Hello. Had a lovely day at the cricket yesterday, I absolutely love it as a day out, very chilled. Wore a summery Farhi navy dress in the end and cream cardi , fortunately the sun came out.

Dd2 ran in to a kitchen cupboard today and bumped get head, needed a trip to a&e, all seems ok now. She definitely has rh makings of a bolter, rufus and olly my heart goes out to you.

BLUE please pm me re Gracie!

notyummy · 30/06/2012 15:04

Glad you enjoyed the cricket Emo and hope dd continues to be ok.

Rufus- have finished my bottle of 20% sizzle and am contemplating ordering 50%. My skin is definitely better- not miraculous, but a distinct improvement. Am pleased. The weather has meant I have not bothered with fake tan at all! I am also slightly put off by how long it takes me- I do like beauty products but it is fair to say that they need to be something I can do quickly or I just won't find the time Blush. I can manage a 7 minute sizzle because I cook dinner whilst it is on my face!! I will use the tan again though if the forecast shows a few consecutive days of good weather to justify the job Grin.

Am pleased to see that the elasticated sandals I got last month from H &M are in the Grazia 'Fabulous Flats' page.

Anyone who had the Times- great interview in the mag with gorgeous plus size model. Looks amazing.

rufus101 · 30/06/2012 15:18

You're like me NY. I can't bear to wait around for stuff to work. But I have gotten through almost the whole bottle, as I find it so easy to put on. Just out of shower, get mitt on, and get cracking. And as it dries so quickly and doesn't transfer it's great. I am definitely going to order the 50% GA. My skin definitely looks better, not a wrinkle free zone or anything, but clearer and brighter. I use the night cream as well, and think it's great.
Smile at the imaginary fashion point. I do that too!
Weirdly people used to comment that DH had a TC look about him, which I found weird, as I don't find TC in the least attractive, but obviously do find DH attractive!
this is the miracle Barbara Daly Face Lift stuff Really recommend it.
Ouch EMO.

blue2711 · 30/06/2012 16:02

Thanks for being so patient with me emo Thanks

Have been away (without phone charger and therefore Internet access...argh!) in Cardiff at a wedding, just DH and I. Fabulous time and then fabulous to get back to the DC. DS smothered us in kisses Smile. Really liked Cardiff and we even had a little sunshine for a walk by the water and an outdoor breakfast. Lots of drizzle too though! I wore my pink lace whistles dress from last summer, with thin gold belt, gold AH clutch, and white fantasy Zara blazer. Felt really good although there were a LOT of lace dresses and I felt like announcing that I got mine last year, actually! I am so like that with fashion points ny. Love spotting my things in Grazia etc.

Another TC fan here... despite my better judgement. Had Cocktail poster on wall aged 14. Perfect height for me too! Hmm, I could actually watch that film again now...

marsha gorgeous outfits and love the sound of your night out. I still noisily long to know what your job is, have imagined all sorts of glam careers!

Longing to get going on pinterest, maybe this week. Is it easy on the iPad?

Thinking of looby.

Hope you're all having lovely Saturdays.

MIM is right. I do have an announcement to make! My final DC (a DS2) arrived early on Friday am by uncomplicated SVD weighing 7lbs 7oz. He is lovely and I'm thoroughly enjoying all the cuddles. The other DC are v excited too! :)
I will PM his name to the first one to PM me and am happy for it to passed to all on the thread.

Haven't caught up properly but re Tom/Kat- a good friend of mine has a father who worked in film special effects and was convinced that he was gay when he worked with him years ago. It seems he was right.

blue2711 · 30/06/2012 17:35

Congratulations looby! Lovely news.
