The fake tan is on (with requisite orange patches, naturally) and hair is done. I'm on countdown to Big Night Out, aware that will have to get ready whilst putting 2 DC to bed.

40bum lady is wearing my black suede Zara sandals today. I heartily recommend. She goes out a lot, doesn't she?! . I have a wardrobe full of going out clothes but not enough occasions to wear them all!

bloss is right: coats and warm jackets are the way forward. I am stupid; I have 20 odd blazers and lightweight jackets perfect for May to September but only 1 jacket and 2 coats I like for September to April. Must rectify.

On a more sour note, was idly looking through my spam email earlier to find I had won a competition I entered on here to go on a cookery course, and the prize included a video camera and £500! Sadly, I didn't see it before the deadline to claim, so the prize was retracted. I could weep.

Haven't started pin yet Bloss. If I did, I would never get out! Meant to ask if you'd ever used Aveda Black Mavala shampoo or conditioner? Enhances the cool tones in dark hair and it does work. Might be an alternative to colour if you're not colour inclined.

Congratulations looby

Have been out this evening for SIL's 30th birthday. Those of you on FB may have seen that DS has come down with chicken pox but luckily everyone has already had it so we were still able to go to SIL's party. Lovely evening - wore khaki shorts, cream open weave jumper over black tank, cream strappy sandals and oversized snakeskin clutch. Waved my hair and felt good. Drinking games including 'I never' which isn't my sort of thing but I was in the zone and enjoying myself. Until poor DS suddenly threw up everywhere just as our taxi arrived. Home now (obvs...) and DC all in bed but not the best end to a lovely evening. Poor boy.

Best get some sleep. Not sure how long until next round of illness...
