New thread!

The fake tan is on (with requisite orange patches, naturally) and hair is done. I'm on countdown to Big Night Out, aware that will have to get ready whilst putting 2 DC to bed.

40bum lady is wearing my black suede Zara sandals today. I heartily recommend. She goes out a lot, doesn't she?! Envy. I have a wardrobe full of going out clothes but not enough occasions to wear them all!

bloss is right: coats and warm jackets are the way forward. I am stupid; I have 20 odd blazers and lightweight jackets perfect for May to September but only 1 jacket and 2 coats I like for September to April. Must rectify.

OP posts:
Hopefully · 29/06/2012 10:35

Will check out my tights, have ordered from them before I think.

Grrr, there are no blazers anywhere in the world. Big trend for curved front blazers this season, which aren't great on me - like Bloss, I need a bit more pointiness (but no classic!)

Quite liking this for casual, over jeans or something.

rufus101 · 29/06/2012 11:04

Mim my DS (4 yrs) will not hold my hand etc and a ginormous tantrum ensues if I insist (which sometimes for obv reasons I do). However a few months ago walking back to our house with DH and DD and DS1, I wasn't holding his hand, as there were the two of us and we were on a foot path. He suddenly made a break for it (and he is so bloody fast) and ran. BUT as he ran ahead, he suddenly swerved and ran behind a parked car as if he was careering out onto the (very busy) road. I screamed in utter terror and literally felt as if all the blood had drained from my body, I felt so weak. I had the crazy split second idea of running onto the road myself to prevent a car getting to him. (mothers eh?) However. The little brat had just darted behind the car and stayed there! I wasn't right for the rest of the evening. The older two are so obedient when they are out and they are completely perplexed by his behaviour. More recently we went on a trip to an aquatic centre with fluge rides. He was just below the minimum height, but insisted on going down. He still wears arm bands unlike the older two. After 2 hours, DH and I said "ok. One last go in the pirate ship and then we go home". In they all went to the pirate ship! We stood there in self congratulatory mode. "that was good. They enjoyed it. Wasn't too stressful" etc. We were there LOOKING at this pirate ship, and I said "where is DS2?". DH was "oh. He's in there. How could he have gotten out? We're here looking at them". You think? I spent a frantic few minutes running up and down the pool side, and was just about to get the life guard to start scanning the pool bottom, when DS2 comes towards me looking very infuriated. "I went down the big slide and you didn't see me". (if I could have fainted, I would)
So, picture this. In the space of 5 minutes, he manages to get away, find his way to the opposite of the centre. Climb about 200 steps, and somehow get past the life guards who monitor the fluge entrance to ensure height restrictions are adhered to or that the kid is accompanied. He has no fear. It's the same on his bike, skate board, rip stick etc. He is much more adroit than his 7 year old brother.
I will hold him personally responsible for every grey hair I get from now on!
Dona how interesting! PM me and give me details!

Dona I am a psychiatrist too! Will pm you!

rufus101 · 29/06/2012 11:38

Hmm. Can't seem to pm you. When I tap your user name nothing happens.

MarshaBrady · 29/06/2012 11:39

Really enjoyed the interview. And outfit. Pale Sandro mini (ish), tangerine t with light apricot APC vneck and mustard skinny Bruno belt. With purple calf hair Kors heels.

New combo plus first wear of heels badge.

Looking forward to indulging in your pinterest stuff this weekend.

FritziGreenEyes · 29/06/2012 11:46

rufus You need to tap "Message poster" next to Dona's name Smile

rufus101 · 29/06/2012 11:50

Can't seem to do it on the iPhone Fritzi. Will have to wait till I'm on my pc! Thanks!

pickledsiblings · 29/06/2012 12:22

Hello Everyone!

It has taken ages to catch up but I have read all 159 posts of this thread this morning. Love the title Blue, thanks.

Fritzi, your comment about loving the smell of DD's hair when she has been playing in the sun all day made me go all of a quiver when I read it and again just now - don't think I will ever forget it Smile.

Icey, lovely to see you. Great idea to take up netball again, it's so important to have time for yourself and so much the better if you can get/keep fit at the same time. You sound as if you are in that gorgeous bubble, I remember it well, of being totally and utterly besotted by ones offspring - long may it last.

Bloss, I'm not loving that particular green bag. I was thinking about what you said about buying things that you later feel are not quite right - do you mean your Summer clothes? If so, I'm sure you could get creative with shoes/bags/scarves and 'make' them work. A bright cross body bag is a must and some fluoro flats

Russianred · 29/06/2012 13:38

MiM our wardrobes are really similar! Have just re-pinned a load of your stuff as I have so much of it. I am swooning at all the wardrobes - it's lovely. And will be a lot easier for us to suggest outfits for each other for various occasions.

Had a harried morning searching high and low for an appropriate clutch (how can I not have an evening bag?!) and found nothing and am reluctant to buy anything that isn't perfect at the moment. Haven't solved anything, as I then got drawn into finding a civil partnership card, which is much harder than you would imagine.

Rufus my heart was in my throat as I read your post. Your DS really puts you through it, doesn't he?! DS has been known to run off, but not at that level. Wonder if he'll do lots of travelling as an adult?!

Lovely WC knit Ollie, just lovely.

Russianred · 29/06/2012 14:23

Meant to add - I returned some yellow trousers (what was I thinking??! Bought ages ago but only just delivered), to H&M, fully planning on getting a refund (as that is what the bank account needs!), but spotted the most beautiful skirt, that I know many of you would love. Can't find it online, but it has a high, ruched waistband with draping overlay, above knee and is a black background, with dark grey, light grey and yellow abstract floral print all over. Looks like it is silk, but definitely not at £19.99. Really very beautiful.

OllieinOrange · 29/06/2012 15:03

Bloss I somehow downloaded a Pin It button to my toolbar so I can just click on it when there is something on the screen I wish to Pin.

Speaking on Pinning - Im starting to think I need a board called "Missed the Boat" with all the things I should have brought and didnt; and a "Brought but Returned" one. There should also be a "Like But Have Something Similar" one (in my case, that would be full of breton tops)

Red will look out for that skirt. Sounds v nice.
Rufus Your DS would find a kindred spirit in DS1 - and DS2 come to think of it. Its a nighthmare. Just took DS2 out on his scooter and his set off down a really steep ramp on an underpass - didnt give it - or me - a second thought. My grey hairs are multiplying as we speak - and Im a blonde and aint supposed to go grey!
Marsha glad the interview went well. Outfit sounded delicious.

rufus101 · 29/06/2012 15:35

ollie Gasps! I don't let him out on his scooter any more. And won't go out with all 3 on their bikes. If I do go out with him on his bike, I spend the whole time speeding to keep up with him, barking loudly "slow down. Slow down"!!
Agree your outfit sounded lush Marsha. Great colour combo.
Must keep an eye out for that skirt Red.

FritziGreenEyes · 29/06/2012 17:33

rufus and ollie and others with energetic DCs with an affinity to bolt: You should treat yourself to the best hairdressers' to cover the greys! Plus lots of shopping trips sans DC Wink

marsha Oh, I totally missed your interview news. Outfit sounds fab!

pickled Your job sounds great (as does your supervisor). Would love to chat to you about interactive learning at next MU. Germany seems to be so very far behind in progressive learning methods. Have just completed writing an 48 page workbook with vocab exercises .

Have just picked up DD from a birthday party. We read her first end of year report together and a personal message from her teachers who are sadly both leaving the school. It has made me feel so emotional and I might have shed a tear Blush. Time for some Cava and Pinteresting methinks...

Hopefully · 29/06/2012 17:55

Expensive blazer possibly on the back burner, I managed to drop my iPhone in a bucket of water while playing with the DSs today.

pickledsiblings · 29/06/2012 18:01

Hopefully, do not despair, it may dry out and be fine. Can you put it somewhere like an airline cupboard or in an airtight box (tupperware) with packets of silica? I spilt a large glass of water over my Apple wireless keyboard and it did dry out eventually - took a few weeks. The only damage done was to the full stop key. Good luck with it.

OllieinOrange · 29/06/2012 18:24

Oh Hopefully hate it when things like that happen. Just so annoying. Good advice re drying out from Pickled.
Try Mint Velvet for blazers? Not too exxy and v HoC natural?

Russianred · 29/06/2012 18:30

Hi team - very quickly; my neighbour has just passed on a 20% off beauty/clothing/homeware voucher for M&S, expiring on the 1st July. We're at the wedding and won't have any opportunity to use it. If anyone wants it, send me a PM and I'll send on as it's a one-off code.

AmberNectarine · 29/06/2012 18:39

hopefully - mine has survived a puddle and the bath...

Hopefully · 29/06/2012 19:01

Thanks guys. Mine has previously survived a puddle, but it was fully immersed for a good couple of seconds this time. Will try to dry it out, can probably obtain silica gel tomorrow. I'll give it till Monday before claiming on home insurance or something. The horror of an entire weekend with no phone! No instagram! I love instagram.

Ollie love the style of Mint Velvet - this would be perfect - but literally everything from there seems to be made for HoC Summers!

suburban · 29/06/2012 19:04

Hopefully you can put it in a bowl of rice (uncooked obvs) to absorb the water. Fingers crossed for you.

MidnightinMoscow · 29/06/2012 19:33

Oh rufus, your post...I was reliving it as I read, you must have been frantic on both occasions. Stressful scooter situation there Ollie too.

Good to hear the interview went well marsha.

Anyone looking for some animal print, this top is lovely, beautifully soft material too.

Ahh fritzi, sounds like DD had an excellent report then. Smile

DH requested Thai pork again for dinner. He staying with friends this weekend for Stone Roses gig in Manchester. Two breaks in one month, he is a lucky man.

Amber JBrand helitrop 811's are now £95 in HoF.

MidnightinMoscow · 29/06/2012 19:36

Hopefully, put it in a tuppaware full of rice, quickly. Lid on.

rufus101 · 29/06/2012 19:38

Lucky man indeed MIM. That Thai pork and two breaks away in one month!
Hopefully have heard that if you submerge iPhone in rice and air tight container for a few days, it can dry out. If you remove the sim could you use another phone?
