That Badedas bath stuff - why so expensive?

It's £5+ for what I can see as plain old bubble bath. Am I missing something? Is there some magic ingredient which justifies it's price.

Smells lovely on having a sniff but......£5+ ......please!

I've often wondered that too.

I had a sneaky sniff of some in someones bathroom years and years ago just to see what the fuss was about but it smelt no different to every other bubble bath on the market.

It does smell nice but it itches me to buggery and it's SO green it's luminous...all those colourants can't be good.

Still trying to figure out what happens after a badedas bath. In my house its straight to sleep. Am missing something aren't I?

Its all my mum ever asks for as a present. I had a bath in it once and fell asleep immediately after so maybe it has drugs that seep up through your backside? :o

The last two posts have persuaded me, especially about sleep inducing drugs seeping in through the backside . Might treat myself to a bottle next week after my Slimming World weigh in - should achieve a stone do the Badedas can be my reward.

Love love love Badedas. No matter what others I try or get bought as presents I always come back to it. Would pay twice the price in a heartbeat!

The midwife specifically recommended it to me after I had DD. Cue DH despatched to Boots! I honestly don't know whether it has any healing/sleep inducing properties, which is what the midwife implied, but I quite enjoyed wallowing in it whilst dd was managed by DH. (Perhaps that was what the midwife was aiming for...? )

I love Badedas, you only need a bit so it lasts for ages, the bubbles last and the smell is gorgeous.

I think the MW thing (I am going to guess it wasn't the youngest MW you ever saw) is the horse chestnut in it is supposedly good for circulation. In my early nursing days the surgeons would prescribe it for some patients after operations and I am not even that old

The burns unit of the hospital my friend worked in used Badedas. I think it must be very healing. I too fall asleep much better having bathed in it. I loves it!!

I bathed in it after my 100+ episiotomy stitches burst apart. It was really soothing. I think it might have heroin in it at least. :o

it smells like pine toilet cleaner! and is similarly corrosive! I genuinely always thought it was really really cheap! I've never bought it but have been given it as gifts!

My mum has incredibly dry and irritable skin and it is the only bubble bath she can use. It does smell amazing - kind of comforting.

I love it, soothing, calming and doesn't affect my psoriasis.

I've used Badedas for more than 40 years and absolutely love it. The smell is wonderful and it's much more economical to use than people might think. You only need a little for a big luxurious bath whereas you use a quarter of a bottle of some products. My concern however is a very recent one. It's rarely seen in supermarkets in the large bottles and is occasionally on offer in Boots at a slightly reduced price. I don't mind paying £12 a bottle and last week bought four bottles. I opened the first one today and it smells foul. I opened the other three and they smell exactly the same. It's still green and thick but has a strong chemical smell and not the distinctive Badedas smell I really love. It's so awful that I wondered if it was fake despite being bought at Boots. You see so much about fake products on TV. The bottle and packaging etc look exactly right but the product is definitely different. I know it's on at least it's third owner as a brand since launch. It's been a Sara Lee product for a long time (manufacturers of gateaux) !!!!! and now it's Unilever. I'm going to write to Unilever today telling them of my utter disappointment at spending £48 on this horrible smelling liquid and I'll report back later :-(
If you are an addict like me, SNIFF before you buy. You can't mistake the wonderful smell. If it's horrible and chemical-ly then don't bother.

Yup I sure did because it's wonderful. Bit pee'd off that it's not as it should be though. I've often bought 3 or 4 bottles at a time. Each one last maybe a month compared with Radox etc that lasts a week if you're lucky :-)

The big bottle which costs £10'ish lasts for ages. And you know - all the characters in Jilly C love it so it must be good

Ooh I love the stuff. But I only buy it when it's on offer because I can finish a bottle in a week, easily.

I love it. Used to bathe in it on summer nights long ago as a young'un after a swim in the freezing sea. Don't know what it is but it's lovely.

Sad to hear that it might have changed though - I certainly will be sniffing before I buy!

I like it, I use it on alternate baths to make my Jo Malone last longer.

I have two bottles of Badadas which I bought in Germany last week and they smell just as they should? You are right, the company is now owned by Unileaver. I would take these bottles back to Boots and have them checked.
Also, while I'm on this page......To answer the question, why is it so expensive?? The British public as always are being ripped off!! I paid 2.55 euros for a 750ml bottle which is £2.21p?? I have seen an add for £18.00 for a bottle the same size. This is taking profit greed to the extreem!!
