Rigby and Peller bras - worth the money?

I'm a 34GG and I seem to get through bras like there's no tomorrow. I have neck and back pain (unsurprisingly!) and need a fine feat of engineering to keep norks front and centre. I have got some good ones from Bravissimo but they only seem to last about 3 months before I have pulled the straps as tight as possible, but they stop being fully supportive.

I understand that R&P bras are wonderful so I had a look on the website and eeeeeek! £80 at least! However, it's an investment in my health as well as looking good so I would be prepared to go for a fitting and some purchasing if it would be really worth it.

Anyone with experience - what did you think? If not that impressed by R&G, are there other brands you would recommend for enormous norks instead?

For me (34DD when not breastfeeding) they were totally worth the investment. Yes, pricey, but mine were still going strong 3+ years later and so supportive. I felt like a new woman. (Plus, once you know a particular style and size and brand, you may be able to buy online cheaper so long as you've not changed size)

I had one for my wedding. Properly fitted and everything. It was supremely uncomfortable a bit mumsy and was never worn again.

My friend is a double G and she goes to R&P twice a year and buys 2 bras. They are the only ones that she'll wear. She handwashes/air dries them.

I have been too and was surprised at how expensive it is, but have to say, my favourite underwear sets are from there. But I am 'only' a double D (at last R&P measurement) so can easily buy from M&S for oooh, about £60 cheaper!

Lord, do I feel your pain sister! I have thought seriously for about 30 minutes about having a reduction because of the back pain and strain but I'm too chicken and don't fancy the thought of having my nipples cut off and sewn back on

I'm 32dd and get my 'day' bras fitted there (I have three per year, not sexy, but they are INFINItELY harder wearing and more supportive than M&S etc). Myla do my evening bras. They're gorgeous.

I have 1 R&P bra and several Freya/Panache etc from Bravissimo. I have to say, the R&P one is fine, but so are the cheaper ones. I personally prefer Freya, and usually spend about £26 on each bra, which then lasts about a year. OP, I think if you're buying decent quality bras they should last longer than 3 months. Have you thought about going down to a 32 with a bigger cup size? You shouldn't really have to tighten the shoulder straps too much, as most of the support should come from the band.

ENORMONORKS!!!! That is so my word of the year. I have 32GG. I like freya best. But also have to tighten straps after about six months.

BIG fan of R&P, you'll never look back once you've tried 'em.

But are you washing your bras on a too-hot wash, or too frequently? (It's ENGLAND and it's fecking cold and you honestly do not need to wash them after every wear, they do not get that sweaty unless in the tropics. Anyone who says otherwise is kidding themselves).

Washing too often makes them wear out too soon. That's why you buy AT LEAST 2 x knickers for every one bra.

Oh god I'm a total slattern when it comes to bra washing - more like one wash for every 10 wears, not every 1 wear!

BorisJohnson'sHair, that is a splendid idea - I'm going to try just that, which will put me on a 32H size what a freak I will try that with my usual Bravissimo bras and see how well they last before I fork out 80 squid on a R&P creation. Thanks v much!

If you are in London go to them for a fitting, I always try on 5 times as many as I buy, once you know the style/brand that work for you you can internet shop. What makes R&P bras so good is the fitting service.

Yes definately! Worth spending on, didnt go to R&P but to a specialised lovely shop in Oxford which sadly closed down.

I spend over £400 on bras after stopped breast feeding 6 years ago and most of those bras still going strong. Particuarly like Huit and Mary Jo.

Am a size 12 and wear a 32- if that helps with size thinking?

Wow! Some people are getting serious mileage out of their bras. Something is obviously wrong with my 3-4 month rate

Yes, worth it. I had been wearing M&S 36D bras for years. R&B woman measured me by eye, I came out a 32E and looking like I had lost half a stone. Money well spent. I buy two per year - one black, one flesh coloured. I cant be arsed to handwash, but wash them on a delicate cycle and they last about a year-18 mths.

I have the opposite problems - practically non-existent norks! Would they sell bras that make a little look a lot? And what sort of money would I be looking at?

Yes, the bras they stock are incredibly well constructed, they won't stock from brands who are not supportive and comfortable. The fitting is the important thing though.

Bras I have bought at r&P are the only bras that have fitted me through my 28 gg teenage years, breast reduced 20s, pregnancy and mastectomies.

Go once, you only need two bras at a time, ALWAYS wash by hand, just a quick dunk in soapy water is ok. Change every 6 months. I have lived on baked beans but always gone to them for fittings .

I bet they fit you as a 32 though, ;)

The fitting is the thing. Interestingly they always fit with White or cream colours, they say black bras come up small due to the dye? O don't see how this can be true but I trust them
