Rigby and Peller bras - worth the money?

I'm a 34GG and I seem to get through bras like there's no tomorrow. I have neck and back pain (unsurprisingly!) and need a fine feat of engineering to keep norks front and centre. I have got some good ones from Bravissimo but they only seem to last about 3 months before I have pulled the straps as tight as possible, but they stop being fully supportive.

I understand that R&P bras are wonderful so I had a look on the website and eeeeeek! £80 at least! However, it's an investment in my health as well as looking good so I would be prepared to go for a fitting and some purchasing if it would be really worth it.

Anyone with experience - what did you think? If not that impressed by R&G, are there other brands you would recommend for enormous norks instead?
Thanks all

Yes they are, even more worth the money if you live anywhere near the factory shop in Desborough,Northamptonshire, where they are mega cheap, though they are called Fauve now aren't they?

I've been completely converted from M&S, Calvin Klein etc to Marie Jo.

Marie Jo cost around £70 but the difference they make to my 36DD posture is amazing. They're supportive, you actually feel like you're being held properly, they're really comfortable, and I find my chest looks a little smaller (a good thing), and definitely higher, in the MJ Avero. According to the specialist shop where I bought them, MJ Avero are their biggest seller.

I'm so fed up. I spent 2 hours in the shop. A sports bra in the wrong size was chosen as they had nothing in that was my size. The seamstress came in and took measurements so that it could be altered. 2 and half weeks later it arrived and it doesn't fit. They had not done what they said and my only option is to send it back and for them to try again. £128 later and still no bra that I can wear. A total waste of time and money. The staff are lovely but that does not compensate for me being out of pocket for weeks with no bra.

fruit yes it is worth going if you're less endowed. I came out considerably better endowed and with everything a good two inches higher than when I started.

I was ignored by the staff even though shop was empty (I went to 43 Bow Lane, London) I went there because, in spite of having my 'profile' they got the size wrong when they sold a bra to my boyfriend who was trying to surprise me. Back to the shop, I was ignored and no one asked me what I was looking for. I asked for a specific size and colour and they gave me a wrong one AGAIN.

AH I was searching for reviews on R&P too! I can't express how much I empathise with the ladies who experience neck and back pain, everything mentioned in this thread I relate too! And I don't have any children!!. Thank you for all the feedback, I will try R&P, but don't know whether I'd actually purchase.

I have two R&P bras, and they are by far my most comfortable ones. I'm 'only' a 38G but i've never had a more supportive bra. I got mine off ebay though so paid about £40 each!

Having shopped at R&P for my 30G norks since my twenties I can honestly say they are the best place in my experience for bra fitting. I usually buy mine in the sale when there are some good bargains to find - last year I got a Prima Donna bra and knickers set for about £48 but it does depend on your size. I think they may have a sale on at the moment.

I took my sister there for a bra fitting when she was at sixth form and being teased for her small chest by some low life. She was fitted by June Kenton (the original owner) who came bounding out of the changing rooms and told me to come and see "the transformation". Needless to say my sister is also a fan.

It's worth going along if you can just to get a fitting, I have never been pressurised into buying anything and I have to say some of my bras have lasted years so I have always felt it was a good investment.

If you are anywhere near Desborough in Northamptonshire then you can book a fitting at the corset factory!

//www.eveden.com

It is in the factory shop but they are qualified fitters. R&P it is not but the bras will fit. I take DD there a couple of times a year to be properly fitted.

About a year or more ago I had a look on R&P website and discovered a brand they sell called Empreinte. I also found they were sold on Figleaves and decided to have a go. They are around £70 quid a throw but I can hand on heart say they have never budged even though I machine wash them. (gentle wash). Well worth the money. If you only get one get the Melody but I also have the Thalia and thats beautiful under a shirt. With regard to size you need to go down a back size from Freya and Fantasie. Not just me - had that confirmed in a lingerie shop when I bought one in a sale.

The fitting is the thing. Interestingly they always fit with White or cream colours, they say black bras come up small due to the dye? O don't see how this can be true but I trust them

Yes, the bras they stock are incredibly well constructed, they won't stock from brands who are not supportive and comfortable. The fitting is the important thing though.

Bras I have bought at r&P are the only bras that have fitted me through my 28 gg teenage years, breast reduced 20s, pregnancy and mastectomies.

Go once, you only need two bras at a time, ALWAYS wash by hand, just a quick dunk in soapy water is ok. Change every 6 months. I have lived on baked beans but always gone to them for fittings .

I bet they fit you as a 32 though, ;)

I have the opposite problems - practically non-existent norks! Would they sell bras that make a little look a lot? And what sort of money would I be looking at?

Yes, worth it. I had been wearing M&S 36D bras for years. R&B woman measured me by eye, I came out a 32E and looking like I had lost half a stone. Money well spent. I buy two per year - one black, one flesh coloured. I cant be arsed to handwash, but wash them on a delicate cycle and they last about a year-18 mths.

Quick hi-jack, is it worth going to R&P if you have small norks or is it just for larger cup sizes?

Wow! Some people are getting serious mileage out of their bras. Something is obviously wrong with my 3-4 month rate Confused

Have bought a 32H bra tonight online so fingers crossed!

Am a size 12 and wear a 32- if that helps with size thinking?

Yes definately! Worth spending on, didnt go to R&P but to a specialised lovely shop in Oxford which sadly closed down.

I spend over £400 on bras after stopped breast feeding 6 years ago and most of those bras still going strong. Particuarly like Huit and Mary Jo.

If you are in London go to them for a fitting, I always try on 5 times as many as I buy, once you know the style/brand that work for you you can internet shop. What makes R&P bras so good is the fitting service.

Oh god I'm a total slattern when it comes to bra washing - more like one wash for every 10 wears, not every 1 wear!

BorisJohnson'sHair, that is a splendid idea - I'm going to try just that, which will put me on a 32H size what a freak Grin I will try that with my usual Bravissimo bras and see how well they last before I fork out 80 squid on a R&P creation. Thanks v much!
