There we go!

Morning all.

Had a rubbish night's sleep. Woke up at 5am and couldn't get back to sleep. Most annoying! Have been yawning at my desk since 7 30.

Rufus - I have heard that Pulling is great but never managed to see it. Must catch a repeat.

Agree with Hopefully that the initial calorie burn of circuit training seems really disappointing compared to running, but I don't see the same kind of changes in my body from just running. I haver never managed to really change my body shape with running (i.e define bits of my body to balance out others and move from pear to hourglass ...nearly.) I definitely think the metabolism boost is true as well. Combination of running and circuits seem to work for me, although the weather has mitigated slightly against the running recently (that and a dodgy knee.)

I have a dodgem injury from Friday night. My left knee is black and blue and quite sore. I should not have let DH drive after so much vodka and red bull. (As you can imagine, RAF aircrew can get a bit competitive with something like dodgems after a few drinks and try to mount attacks on each other using Fast Jet tactics Hmm)

Am really interested to hear comments re running and weight/strength training as its hitting a nerve. Am running more, a lot more- but seem LESS toned apart from legs!!! However DH who has started running seems to be toning up all over. Mhhh should it be different with men/women? If i manage to squeeze in spinning classes my legs get a definition that i like- but with school hols looming and constant sports days/presentations/teacher meets etc its falling by the wayside. Suggestions for toning at home combined with running????? How much and how long???

Emo76 · 18/06/2012 12:14

I have nothing to add to the diet and excercise discussion apart from I should proabably do more of both Grin

got a bit overexcited and panicky in the NAP sale first thing, I have 2 pairs of shoes, earrings and a bag en route. Probably all will go back. tempting!

get well soon ny

Emo76 · 18/06/2012 12:17

i am not sure about this trend..!

loobylu3 · 18/06/2012 12:24

Bit of bondage there emo!

I also thought the slouchy Stella M jogging bottoms totally ruined the outfit on your gorgeous hand bag link the other day.

Can I ask which scarf you all prefer as I am being ridiculously indecisive. I would something in a pink tone so it's either:

chan luu that emo just linked to or this or this which decam has.
Which is it to be? :)

Hopefully · 18/06/2012 12:31

Always have tried shred? Great for all round toning. Men tone so much more easily than women, it's really irritating Grin

Looby I like Emo's scarf the best Smile

SE my understanding of NROWLFW is that it's very much aimed at gym-goers, or those with properly equipped home gyms (maybe you could squeeze one in the alley behind your bike? Grin), but have never seen a copy IRL.

alwaysrunninginheels · 18/06/2012 13:00

Yikes SE the idea of metabolism slowing has me munching on salmon straight away for lunch!!! Am just fairly frustrated that I am exercising more but seem less rather than more toned.....but time limits mean any child free time has to be used on running as running half marathon. Normally I would do more xtraining! Off to order shred DVD as really don't want to end up less toned!

Laughing at that belt.....most amazingly the fact that it's only 30% off!!!!

notyummy · 18/06/2012 13:03

That belt is hilarious. I am a Health and Safety hazard at the best of times because of clumsiness.....put me in something like that and it would be like a clip from the Pink Panther in minutes....

Quickly popping in to say alwaysrunning, that 20 minutes of Jillian Michaels works absolute wonders, and can not be sniffed at even if the calorie burn is disappointing. You need both I think. Running is the best, but I prefer cycling, and one of the JM dvds. I still really like Shred, but Ripped also great, and my problem area is stomach, which is why this year has been 6 wee 6 pack. There is no mistaking how toned you get after a few weeks of her. Really worth it.

suburban, I was too late! Sold out. Thanks though.

Still pmsl at ny's competitive dodgemming.

alwaysrunninginheels · 18/06/2012 13:25

Ooohhh 6wk6pack sounds great. I always find my stomach reverts to pregnancy pouch given half a chance so it sounds perfect. My youngest has gotten too old for council gym crèche recently which means the little 30 min slots I used to get in the gym when her brothers were swimming have now vanished. So trying to find new ways of fitting things in.

Am loving this as an A/W look. So if anyone spots boots like this please link.

Decameron · 18/06/2012 13:28

What a hideous belt!

Which bag did you order, Emo?

I was thinking of getting these grey jeans but they aren't reduced much.

Looby, that's it exactly, I compare them to how my mother would have been (but may not in fact have been at all!). Anyway, they arrived an hour and a half late but it was nice to see them, they brought lots of presents, played with the DDs and were very complimentary about them. The plain pink scarf would go with more but the Crumpet scarves are lovely quality and better priced. That's great you've found someone to help, it will make the first few weeks easier.

Suburban, the dishwasher is kaput and needs to be replaced! The upside of renting is that we don't have to pay for that. Nice Blochs, they are sold out now, unfortunately.

Hope you recover from the dodgem injury soon, NY.

Thanks for the links, NSG, I've bookmarked for a night away sometime but since DH is keen on going abroad. Happy days. I'd be furious with the builder.

DD2 is sleeping much better but has her 12 month immunisation this afternoon, I hope it doesn't mess up her sleep again.

NotSoGrumpy · 18/06/2012 13:28

Emo that belt is hilarious.

Well I'm pleased with my NaP buys - J Brand Marias in dark grey and black belstaff biker boots. Not very summery but given the weather probably very useful. I definitely don't need any more jeans or flat shoes now. In fact, I need some work clothes and shoes and a few things for wearing out in the evenings.

always I find Jillian Michaels DVDs fab, definitely the best way to tone up. I haven't been able to exercise while staying with PIL and am feeling decidedly flabby.

NotSoGrumpy · 18/06/2012 13:33

decam I've ordered those jeans, it's not a great discount but I wear my black ones loads and find them v flattering.

I also have an idealized image of the type of grandmother my mother would have been and the relationship we'd have if she was here and then I think that in reality if she was here she'd probably come round, tell me that the house needed tidying and that I should clean the oven.

blossoming · 18/06/2012 13:34

I need to 'find time' for JM and cardio ar. May set the alarm for 5.45! Yy to pregnancy pouch.
Glad it went ok decam.
Great buys nsg. Back to work I go, keeping my shopping till later!

OllieinOrange · 18/06/2012 13:34

Am 'having' to read 50 Shades of Grey for Book Club. Started reading it last night. "Oh my" is the only response that springs to mind........well, that and one of these Shock followed by a big one of these Blush
Not really enjoying it tbh.

alwaysrunninginheels · 18/06/2012 13:54

Oh oli I would love to hear how a discussion at a Bookclub goes with 50 shades! Hilarious!!! Not sure who would agree to sign his contract!!! I suspect mr grey would appreciate the belt linked to by emo! V v odd book!!! Am amazed it keeps getting the no1 seller slot!

Decameron · 18/06/2012 13:54

These are the other grey jeans I was considering. NSG, we will have near identical wardrobes! I have black belstaffs too.

Bloss, I was up at 5.45 today but was so happy that DD2 slept from 7pm last night, I considered it a lie in. Grin

Rufus, forgot to say, great idea on the party game. Your DS sounds very sweet.

Ollie, yikes. I think I will skip that one.

belsize77 · 18/06/2012 14:01

Thanks for the responses. Amber, if you can be bothered to click, the dresses are this one and this one. Maybe I should keep both as it seems over confident to return at this stage...

Can I also ask, whilst I am briefly "out", what you all feel about the numerous lurkers. I do often feel a bit voyeuristic following the threads without contributing but my shopping strategy of always buying decent but reduced stuff a few times a year/never really exercising wouldn't make me a very interesting regular poster.

Decameron · 18/06/2012 14:04

Congrats Belsize. I used to live in Belsize Park, you have reminded me. I think you should keep the dresses, the VW one particularly, but maybe return the jeans. Keep posting!

OllieinOrange · 18/06/2012 14:38

Hi Belsize Congratulations. Hope you are feeling well at this stage on the pregnancy? Agree with the lovely Decameron I would keep the the dresses, esp the VWA one as its a great buy and would probably serve you well for years to come?
I dont mind the thought of lukers - unless I start thinking too much of all the waffle I post and all the real life stuff I end up revealing. I don't think you have to buy a lot to feel 'qualified' (for want of a better word) to stay. We all enjoy looking at other people's links and I really value feedback on whatever it is I am dithering about buying - even if its of the "Ollie, step away from the robin hood boots immediately" variety! Stay.

blue2711 · 18/06/2012 14:39

Congrats belsize. Stick around. I never ever exercise so just read those bits and hang my head in shame.

looby I love the crumpet pink leopard. Hmm, and I'd vowed no more scarves...

mrscb is that you in your blog today?? I have that jaeger jacket too and haven't worn it for ages, you've inspired me to dig it out. Think we have v similar taste as I tried to buy those heels too.

Well done nap buyers. I am being ridiculously restrained. Am eyeing up a few things here and there though.

Off to park for picnic with lovely new friend and our DC. After about 8yrs of making no real new friends at all I am very lucky to have genuinely clicked with work friends and mum friends in the past few years.

We've been given tickets to the Olympic women's beach volleyball. DH is pleased...

blue2711 · 18/06/2012 14:40
