Help needed - posh party!

Tarka · 13/06/2012 20:05

Got a posh party to go to (on a boat) at end of the month..am panicking as have nothing suitable to wear. I am dress and skirt averse due to my horrible and massive legs.
Was thinking I could get away with a jumpsuit maybe? I am 5ft 2, smallish boobs, small waist and wide hips - hourglass. Shoulders balance out hips.

I can't do dresses/skirts at all - just hate my legs too much.

Budget - up to £50...I saw this which I liked the style of, but worried it'll look cheap....party will be brim full of the wealthy, stylish and elegant. And then me.

www.dorothyperkins.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ProductDisplay?beginIndex=0&viewAllFlag=&catalogId=33053&storeId=12552&productId=5905352&langId=-1&sort_field=Relevance&categoryId=326886&parent_categoryId=208600&pageSize=200

Can anyone help? Also need help with shoes etc... Thanks in advance.

You cna wear a jump suit, of course you can but please not that one. Loads in the sales so plenty of quality for your cash

navy - could be amazing with turquoise, orange, fuschia or coral.
very blue needs a differnt belt
black
black, one shouldered massively reduced
ooooh
over budget but Beautiful

Owt there? Oh, and what sort of budget you on for accessories?

Tarka · 13/06/2012 21:16

Thanks Procrastination, those are brilliant - I looove the navy one, but am worried that it has partly see-through legs - not good for moi! Not so keen on the very blue one but loving the copper Phase 8, and also the over-budget but FABULOUS Betty Jackson one.

From your links I also noticed this: www.houseoffraser.co.uk/Phase+Eight+Wrap+belted+jumpsuit/157529218,default,pd.html

Arrgh. Now have soo much to choose from. Smile

Budget for accessories - £40ish?

Forgot to add - my colouring, if it helps with accessories? v dark brown hair, olivey/sallow skin/dark eyes.

ProcrastinationAteMyMorning · 13/06/2012 21:20

I noticed that too but it's double your budget Shock

Tarka · 13/06/2012 21:28

Yes, only just realised that Sad.

I could maybe halve the budget on accessories and let caution to the wind? Grin

Well I never! When I read your post I thought you must be bonkers! I'm similar build to you and always thought jumpsuits were hideous butt enlarging nightmares....but now I'm tempted!grin I esp like the black asymmetric one.
With some amazing gold DP sandals (will link) and gold cuff/statement earrings,it would look amazing.

ProcrastinationAteMyMorning · 13/06/2012 21:45

OK, aiming at acessories for 30 quid so you can have the best one in budget...

red - are these in your size?

wine

and a black bag

or

black sling backs
black satin peeptoes
monochrome
black patent peeptoes
and a red bag

gold
gold sandals
silver sandals
would be fine with either of the bags

(living vicariously? Me? nooo)

drywhiteplease · 13/06/2012 21:45

DP

ProcrastinationAteMyMorning · 13/06/2012 21:47

Ooh, those are brilliant!

(was talking about hte betty jackson one)

Tarka · 13/06/2012 21:56

Oh hell, I love the Kurt Geiger red shoe, but I'm a size 5.... Hmm.. just had a thought...I do have a pair of black, square-toed, medium heeled court shoes....could I wear those, thus saving a wedge of cash, and allowing me to buy the £99 Phase 8 jump suit...or is a black shoe wrong with that midnight blue? I also have a beautiful dove grey Pashmina - would that be ok to wear around shoulders do you think?

Procrastination/Drywhite - can't thank you enough. Wish you could come to the party with me. Smile. Was dreading whole thing up until now.

I don't think you can really wear black with the navy, no Sad. Maybe I'm wrong, hope so!!

It does come in black for the same price though. That with your black shoes, grey pashmina and a cheapo oversize, silvery clutch would be great.

Tarka · 13/06/2012 22:03

Love that style of bag

OP posts:
ProcrastinationAteMyMorning · 13/06/2012 22:06

Me too, much less fussy than a wee clutch. Did mean to link before.

Tarka · 13/06/2012 22:08

Right, so I'll get the black jumpsuit, wear it with my black court shoes and silver/grey pashmina + silver clutch bag. Do I do maybe a chunky bangle or something?

OP posts:
ProcrastinationAteMyMorning · 13/06/2012 22:09

You're going to look amazing!

Yeah, chunky bangles or cuff and earrings if you can stretch. Or do you have some?

ProcrastinationAteMyMorning · 13/06/2012 22:11

(hair up too, I'd say)

Tarka · 13/06/2012 22:13

Drywhite, I love this style for my/our shape. I think it works really well. In my head I'm channelling a young Lauren Bacall, although I suspect I may be kidding myself Grin.

Procrastination - You're going to look amazing!

Thank you Grin - It's all down to you!! My hair is a chin-length bob atm, but thinking to get it cut slightly shorter before party...bangle - what colour? Neutral-y best? All excited now.

OP posts:
ProcrastinationAteMyMorning · 13/06/2012 22:21

OMFG a (slightly angled) blunt cut, shortish bob is the hair cut of dreams for that! You sneaky minx!

ProcrastinationAteMyMorning · 13/06/2012 22:24

Right

can you not borrow some jewelery - 'tis the posh thing to do don't y' know! I'd say silver, black or cream and either very simple or monochrome graphic (IYSWIM).

If not, budget?

Tarka · 13/06/2012 22:25

Haaha @ sneaky minx!

Drywhite If you have a link to the statement earrings/cuff, then my happiness will be complete Grin

OP posts:
Tarka · 13/06/2012 22:26

Yes good idea to borrow bangle

OP posts:
Tarka · 13/06/2012 22:26

cross-posted

OP posts:
Tarka · 13/06/2012 22:30

Well, if I WERE to buy a bangle, I guess I could spend up to £15 as only other spend would be bag for a tenner!

OP posts:
Tarka · 13/06/2012 22:32

And obviously the £99 on the jump suit Grin
