Would this be OK for a wedding?

Hi
Slight wedding panic looming. I have a skirt but no top so am looking at buying a dress - would this be ok or not smart enough? www.allsaints.com/women/dresses/allsaints-rose-trellis-mini-dr/?colour=2963&category=22
I have a pale pink hat and these divine shoes already www.topshop.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ProductDisplay?beginIndex=0&viewAllFlag=&catalogId=33057&storeId=12556&productId=5694617&langId=-1&sort_field=Relevance&categoryId=208542&parent_categoryId=208492&pageSize=20
Sorry - can't work out how to do short links!
Thanks

I think it's smart enough, and would go well with a pale pink hat, but I'm just not keen on the style itself.
There again, it's you wearing it, not me!

shushpenfold · 13/06/2012 17:48

Ditto scented...my dh would def make a comment about the dress, but if you're in your 20's and very slim it might be OK....

susiefen · 13/06/2012 17:49

mmm, I've not tried it on, so it may not look right, just grateful to find something with arms!

I think it is gorgeous......

susiefen · 13/06/2012 17:56

I'm tall and relatively slim, but definitely not in mid-20s! This was the other one I saw, but I'm not convinced it's my style. I'm a bit less formal than this usually www.johnlewis.com/335579/Product.aspx

Much prefer the phase 8 one.... The other one is okay - just looks a bit....errrmmm... dare I say, "cheap" ?

shushpenfold · 13/06/2012 18:04

...was trying to avoid my dh's suggestion of less appropriate for the wedding but marvellous for street corners! Sorry....the phase 8 one is lovely and great with the rather fabulous shoes! You'll look great.

pippop1 · 13/06/2012 18:08

I have to say I'm not keen on the Allsaints one as it doesn't look as though it cost anything like what it does cost. I'm also not v keen on the Phase 8 one with the (lovely) shoes that you have as it all seems rather busy.

How about something a bit plainer with some beautiful jewellery and your hat? Pale grey would be elegant with the pink hat and shoes.

Yama · 13/06/2012 18:09

Phase 8 one is lovely. All Saints one ... not so much.

notyummy · 13/06/2012 18:11

I know this makes me sound like a maiden aunt, but I think anything with 'mini' in the title runs the risk of upsetting one group of guests at a wedding, and causing another group to letch. As you are tall (as am I), you can't even say 'oh well, it will be knee length on me'. Second dress much more appropriate. Wedding clothes don't need to be boring, but realistically, most eyes should be on the bride, not on the exposed body parts of the guest.

susiefen · 13/06/2012 18:12

I love the idea of grey actually - might have a trawl through the shops. Advice much appreciated though - I will go with the majority and stick with Phase 8 if I don't find anything else

How about this? www.johnlewis.com/325325/Product.aspx

I like both but think if you're going for a heavily patterned pair of shoes, the dress should be plain; and vice versa. Being honest I don't like the shoes although maybe they look better in the flesh... Hmm

ProcrastinationAteMyMorning · 13/06/2012 18:20

Love that Damsel in a Dress one. Excellent!

ProcrastinationAteMyMorning · 13/06/2012 18:21

(but you can't wear it with the top shop shoes)

notyummy · 13/06/2012 18:24

Susie- that Damsel in a Dress one is lovely!

Ishoes · 13/06/2012 18:41

Sorry op but both the dress and the shoes are vile and look far too much like teenage wear to me.

I prefer the phase eight one but get different shoes!

AmberNectarine · 13/06/2012 18:45

I am wearing this dress in the grey to a wedding this summer and I think it would look great with those shoes...

susiefen · 13/06/2012 18:51

Oh dear, the shoes appear to be more controversial than the dress! The picture isn't great to be fair - they are a very pale pink and the flowers are very delicate. Happy to ditch them if needed though. I love the idea of the grey but have never really tried it - I'm fair skinned, with pale blue eyes and blonde hair

I love the All Saints dress Op and I think it depends very much on your own personal style. I like quirky and I like All Saints, although the dress may not necessarily look great in the link, their clothes are usually well made and of good quality. I'm a big fan but I wouldn't wear those shoes with that dress.

ProcrastinationAteMyMorning · 13/06/2012 19:18

Ah, right, grey would be just perfect with your coloring then!

these would be beautiful with the damsel dress.

The all saints dress is rather nice (if you keep it away from those shoes) these would be good with it, I think.

The phase 8 one is fine but pretty middle-aged, IMVHO. No good with the top shop shoes in any case.

This has sleeves, not sure if you'll like it though. Might even be able to take those god awful shoes too...

ProcrastinationAteMyMorning · 13/06/2012 19:19

Oh, bugger, erm, is the original all saints one not a bit white for a wedding?

ProcrastinationAteMyMorning · 13/06/2012 19:37

blue
grey - utter simplicity but potentially stunnign
ooh, this could be amazing on (grey again)

Sorry to have been such a cow about your shoes Blush
