Citrusy perfumes that last

Hello,
In need of perfume help here, as I really feel like treating myself to something nice for the summer.
I love really fresh, citrusy fragrances but often find that once the top notes fade, I don't like the underlying fragrance. I don't like musky or woody notes at all on my skin.
I also adore a lot of classic eaux de Cologne (like 4711) but find that they fade really quickly. Does anyone have any recommendations for fresh, lemony perfumes that actually last on the skin?
Thanks!

Jo Malone Verbena nicer than L'Occitane but £££'s

SageMist · 03/06/2012 10:18

I like Lemon Verbena eau de toilette from L'Occitane.

Enragia · 03/06/2012 10:18

Clarins red one

Lexiesgirl · 03/06/2012 10:18

Clinque's Happy always lasted quite long on me.

SageMist · 03/06/2012 10:19

X-post with Annie!

I think I might have a little tester of the Occitane Verbena kicking around somewhere - had forgotten about that. Will try it out today. I like Jo Malone fragrances so will seek out that Verbena one too and try it out.

Didn't realise Happy was a citrusy one so will add that to the list to try out. And the Clarins one too.

Thanks :)

O de Lancome - gorgeous..

MrsSchadenfreude · 03/06/2012 10:49

Lux, by Mona di Orio, Costs $$$$$, lasts ages though.

JambalayaCodfishPie · 03/06/2012 10:52

On the cheaper side, CKOne Summer, is what I wear as my day-to-day scent.

Like you, I much prefer the light, citrusy scents, and although different each year, it always leans towards that sort of fragrance.

This years bottle design is disgusting though. Grin

The reason citrusy perfume doesn't last is because essential oils of lemon are very volatile, esp compared to those of other flowers/plants.
I wear cologne, have never found a perfume that smells properly citrusy, all the suggested above are not what I would call citrusy at all!?
Miller Harris does one called Citron Citron which is probably the closest to a cologne, I wear one from Spain, but you can't get it here, if you ever go, you can buy it in the Corte Ingles, it's Agua de Colonia by Alvarez Gomez, it's fab.
L'occitane Verbena is ok, but it doesn't last and the after smell that lingers is a bit naff really...
So, Miller Harris is prob your best bet really.

Miss Dior L'eau Frais is citrusy and long lasting.

DialMforMummy · 03/06/2012 11:15

Tangerine and basil aqua allegoria by Guerlain. It's lovely.

coffeeinbed · 03/06/2012 11:20

No such thing I'm afraid.
Guerlain had one called Eau des Fleurs de Cedrat which is perfect, but you'll have re-spray.

Jo Malone Grapefruit lasts quite well and on me stays pretty much the same scent until it fades (no musky smell after a while..don't like that)...its one of my fav summer scents and Ilook forward to putting it on. ALso like the new Jo Loves(by Jo Malone herself not the brand) Green Orange and Coriander altho not citrusy, very fresh

Julialyne · 03/06/2012 11:27

I use O' de Lancôme, lovely fresh citrus scent. The smell is light & lasts most of the day. Layer it by using the body lotion & it will boost the fragance.

gastrognome · 03/06/2012 12:09

Thanks MissFoodie, I guessed there must be a scientific reason for it!
Coincidentally, I usually wear Alvarez Gomez agua de colonia too, and absolutely love it. Didn't mention it earlier as I know it's unavailable outside Spain. Always stock up when I'm there (and if you are ever in Madrid, head to their flagship store -it's Cologne heaven!).
Haven't come across the Miller Harris one before so will investigate.

Will check out the others too.

Always have to test on my skin so I sense a few return visits to the perfume counter will be required :)

Thanks all.
