knitwear

slalomsuki · 05/06/2012 20:49

I have ordered a couple of tops and a mac. Not sure if I will keep the mac as its very expensive but the previous version I bought a couple of years ago was good and has lasted.

Will see but I bet i send them all back in July when they come

ameliagrey · 06/06/2012 09:39

Are the "Zipped" Ankle trousers supposed to be short- the petite length is 26 which means they are almost cropped. I am petite and my inside leg is 27-28, but can get away with a 29 in some jeans etc. Not sure whether to try the Regular length or the petite- anyone worked out if these trousers are meant to be above the ankle?

hattymattie · 06/06/2012 15:34

What do people think about the sixties jumper? (incapable of making a decision by herself).

orangeandlemons · 06/06/2012 17:29

3/4 sleeves non? Too cold in depths of Winter. What is the Boden obsession with 3/4 sleeves. No one else seems to do them.

Nice jumper, an 3/4 sleevs are very 60's, but I would still want warm wrists

ameliagrey · 06/06/2012 17:55

I don't like the 60s jumper becasue I don't suit high necks or necks with a funnel edge/trim which is seems to have- but that's just me!

ameliagrey · 06/06/2012 17:55

I love 3/4 sleeves as I have short arms. In winter I wear long gloves under a coat.

orangeandlemons · 06/06/2012 18:20

My wrists get cold indoors. And I have arms as long as a gibbon. So 3/4 are really elbow length on me

hattymattie · 06/06/2012 18:34

hmm - true there's no point having 3/4 sleeves in winter and the jumper does look thin. I'm also worried about it piling (Boden jumpers often do). OK folks I'm hanging fire.

MrsBovary · 06/06/2012 19:33

I'm unsure as to the 60s jumper. It looks fine on the model photo, but I'm not a personal fan of that type of neckline.

slalomsuki · 07/06/2012 20:00

I love 3/4 sleeves and hate sleeves that I have to lean on when I write or type.

polyhymnia · 07/06/2012 22:09

Me too. Hate sleeves flapping round my wrists unless it's really cold .

Dancergirl · 09/06/2012 21:06

I'm not too fussed about 3/4 length sleeves....but WHY so many SHORT sleeved tops for autumn/winter?? Some of them look quite nice going out tops but it spoils the look if you have to wear a cardie over them. At least 3/4 sleeves cover most of your arms!

Dancergirl · 09/06/2012 21:08

I'm trying to decide if I like the crepe sole wedge boots.

Pelicano · 09/06/2012 21:16

amelia - you only get a refund within 3 months, credit note after then.

Scoop neck tops for me, mine have lasted ages whereas other cheaper ones have the usual minute holes around the belt buckle area in the same space of time.

Dancergirl · 09/06/2012 21:28

Think I quite like some of the tunics - casual zig zag tunic, smocked tunic dress and twist neck tunic.

Kaloobear · 10/06/2012 10:06

I haven't shopped at Boden since I lost weight and don't know what size to buy. I fit an 8 in most places but my measurements are 35-28-35 and their size guide suggests a 10. That's fine except the measurements for the actual clothes seem much bigger than in the size guide...I'm confused! Rainy day mac says the 'total waist' (what's the 'total' bit about?) is 37.75" for a size 10. Argh.

orangeandlemons · 10/06/2012 10:09

If the rainy day mac has a belt, it means the waist measurement before the belt has gathered it in.

I only know that because I used to work in the clothing industry. It is a bit confusing to be used in a catalogue

Kaloobear · 10/06/2012 10:33

That makes sense-but it doesn't have a belt! The 'garment measurements' are all totally different to the size guide. Am thinking I'll have to order two sizes and send one back which is a pain. Does anyone know in general whether their clothes tend to come up small or big? I've only bought maternity clothes from them in the past.

Rabid · 10/06/2012 10:54

Don't do tunics !

Pinkflipflop · 10/06/2012 12:06

this is the first dress in a very long time that I have wanted to order from Boden

Hope it's nice in RL

Aliceinthelookingglass · 10/06/2012 12:17

Koola- you will often have to order 2 sizes with Boden.

I am a similar size to you and often find that the hips are too big in a 10- in dresses- but the waist :( a little tight in skirts and trousers- in fact I am always a 10 in trousers.

One tip- measure the actual garment size of clothes you already own, then compare.

I ordered the rainy day mac last season and sent it back- too heavy for what I wanted- but an 8 fit fine.

Aliceinthelookingglass · 10/06/2012 12:18

Sorry0 that should be Kaloo

Aliceinthelookingglass · 10/06/2012 12:20

I'll start again... brain not working.

An 8 is often okay in the hips and bust, but I need a 10 for the waist in trousers and skirts. So I tend to buy an 8 in looser styles and a 10 in fitted styles. My waist is more like 29:(

MrsBovary · 10/06/2012 14:36

That's the dress I like Pinkflipflop. It's quite different from their usual dresses. There's a similar styled knitted dress I'm considering too.
