marsha Swing by Liberty's and buy a something warm and cosy.

FritziGreenEyes · 14/06/2012 09:09

don't know where that "a" came from... sorry

MarshaBrady · 14/06/2012 09:11

Hehe tempting Fritzi. If I sit very still the sun may win over the breeze.

loobylu3 · 14/06/2012 09:58

You guys are great with the sale alerts!

amber- hope you are containing your excitement at Selfridges this morning! Do you manage to go minus DC as pretty difficult with them, I imagine. The last time I went to a sale in Selfridges (or any other London store) was 10+yrs ago pre DC :(
I am going to drag DH to a decent London store when he gets a Consultant post as he is the King of dressing cheaply and he never clears out his old clothes which drives me mad!

ollie- I also get laughed at for returning things all the time. red- 25% return rate is pretty good for online shopping. Mine is much higher.
Sometimes, it is really tempting to keep something that you like and looks good but, on consideration, you know that you will never actually wear it for whatever reason.

pickled- you are always so nice!
I know most of Hobbs is a little older/ frumpy but I also like the look of NW3 too. It is a bit more quirky.
Probably not for everyone but like these here on the Hobbs website and and these flats.

Sadly, my sales shopping is going to be severely curtailed. I had put a bit of money aside for myself and the DC but it is now all going to be swallowed up and more by a hugely costly repair to my car. :(
Fortunately, the DC don't really need anything much for next Summer even so will reassess in AW.
I would like to get some decent knitwear, a pair of boots and probably a pair of jeans.

AmberNectarine · 14/06/2012 12:04

looby I take the littl'un, who as long as she's kept fed is no trouble.

red only coloured 811s I saw were v pale pink, not sure if that's for you? Am going back on sat so happy to do the honours if you like?

Right report in:

Resisted lure of half-price Gracie, just. Denim sale good, but suspect prices will go lower in next couple of days. Lots of leopard C/Es, floral J brands, Mavericks etc. I bought some fab Goldsign skinnies for £50, will link later. Shoe dept a disappointment, some nice Lanvin flats but not my colours, nearly bought nude Rupert Sanderson courts, but actually would prefer a bright colour.

Will re-visit this weekend as in my experience Selfridges drop prices hard and fast. If Gracie is still there I will consider it a sign, but didn't want to be rash. Will probably combine HN with that.

Popped into Browns, where I was quite taken with a very lovely bright green Balenciaga with 40% off, might have to sweet talk DH...

AmberNectarine · 14/06/2012 12:06

Ooh actually red I tell a lie, they had neon pink and purple...

Hopefully · 14/06/2012 12:14

Gaaaaaah. Just tried to have a brief offload to my mother about how hard I'm finding things at the moment - not knowing where/when we'll be moving, trying to juggle full time childcare with working approx 35 hours a week in the evenings, DH being stressed about job situation, having no money, not being able to sort childcare due to imminent move, DS2 being so insanely high needs etc etc etc and she turned round and said, "yes, it's a shame, you started out quite liking motherhood, but you're not so good at it now". Could have cried, thought I was actually doing an ok job in the circs. Sad

Hopefully · 14/06/2012 12:14

Apologies for self centred post Blush

AmberNectarine · 14/06/2012 12:42

here are my Goldsigns. So soft, super skinny and high rise. Really recommend at that price...

MarshaBrady · 14/06/2012 12:49

Hopefully what a terribly mean thing to say. You ARE doing well. Working without cc is stressful and hard.

Amber good discount! Really like them. Did you get your usual size?

AmberNectarine · 14/06/2012 12:57

I sized down marsha as they are super stretchy.

suburban · 14/06/2012 13:00

Hopefully I am so sorry you feel like this. DP's job is based on contracts of circa 18months and so we have moved a lot. The uncertainty is absolutely maddening and really wears you down. You just have to bear in mind that at some point it will be sorted and you won't have this kind of worry again. Appreciate that that can be hard to keep in mind when you are in the midst of it though.

Was actually just reading a thread about having children younger and then building a career and thinking you should post to provide a positive pov. Don't think my tale of quitting a job in Brussels after 2 weeks and an MSc after a month is v inspiring.

Red I am watching the Grayson Perry doco on catch up now is vg.

MarshaBrady · 14/06/2012 13:07

Thanks Amber. Am tempted to go in at the weekend. Madness, probably. But feeling online might be arduous.

I'm meant to be waiting until dh gets some work-type news in two weeks. But it's hard!

DonaAna · 14/06/2012 13:11

Lots of sympathy to everyone in tough situations.

Amber, the Birkin lady at my child's school wears Goldsigns Wink

blue2711 · 14/06/2012 13:24

Hello everybody. Have missed loads since Tuesday! Just managed a quick skim while DD is sleeping. Sunshine here today, hurrah. Wonder if ny is still rocking her sparkly wellies? Love my shiny black hunters but never really wear them as refuse to go outside when it's raining. Thinking of bloss too, looking outstanding in davina. Hope lesson goes brilliantly. Observations are stressful.

hopefully that is horrid! You are doing brilliantly. You're coping with a lot right now and I am in awe of productive you are. Mothers do seem to be able to cut one to the quick somehow, even lovely ones. I always long for mine to tell me I'm a good mum but she never does.

fritzi I'm Envy over those floral j brands. Have nearly bought them many many times since seeing them on Wendy. I love them but have resisted so far. But still haven't got anything in the sales (well except for AH clutch of course...!) so may well still succumb if they have them in my size.

amber you are the queen of sales! Always love to see your purchases. Would love to be able to go to the London dept stores but it seems pretty impossible at the moment. One day.

A great friend visited unexpectedly last night and we had a lovely evening together. Isn't it brilliant when your friends from pre-marriage get on well with your other half?

Half heartedly packing for a weekend away at DH's dad's in Sussex. Soo glad we've abandoned potty training!

AmberNectarine · 14/06/2012 13:36

Any good, hopefully?

AmberNectarine · 14/06/2012 13:37

It was surprisingly civilised today marsha.

Ooh, keep thinking of Gracie. If it's meant to be, it's meant to be...

FritziGreenEyes · 14/06/2012 13:46

Hush flash-sale is on!

No, but have DS2 all the time he's there, so no actual break (in fact, it's easier when DS1 is here as DS2 is less clingy!). He stops in mid-July.

Fritzi do we think that means that more serious reductions will come in a few weeks? Want a few bits, but 20% isn't enough really.

blossoming · 14/06/2012 14:14

Just back for lunch, what a long day..
I am officially Good though. A solid good. Not yet outstanding (18 months till Ofsted!) I am overjoyed. It has been a tough learning curve. The Ofsted criteria has changed so much since I left teaching before, and I have had to relearn everything. It is actually a miracle that they gave me a job last year Wink

What can I buy to celebrate?

OP posts:
Fleecy · 14/06/2012 14:15

hopefully I work about 20hrs a week during nap times and evenings, none of mine are high needs and yet I find it very stressful at times so I think you're doing a bloody brilliant job!

Quick question - am going to see a new client next week in corporate banking. What should I wear? I did ask the agency I'm going with and they said proper traditional - knee length dress, dark colours etc.

The only thing I have that meets this brief is the navy Me&Em but it's very tight so I think it's too slinky. I do have the taupe Chinti and Parker that ny has but it's a couple of inches above the knee so think that's out too. Have jackets but nothing that will work with the Me&Em.

Is a red dress okay? SIL has one I could borrow but it's quite full skirted and very bright.

Help!

Fleecy · 14/06/2012 14:16

Cross posted with you bloss - well done - that's fantastic!

rufus101 · 14/06/2012 14:16

Emo big hugs. Hopefully you're in a better place together today.
Hopefully that is down right mean of your DM. I always think you're a powerhouse of motherhood/ wifedom.
Bloss hope your "exam" is goIng well. Good Decision on the outfit! Thanks for the discount offer but think I will put the ??? towards buying something I will wear for more than a week. I'm determined to be very wise this year.
Great buys Amber, now that's a discount! They never discount like that here the denim. It's all 10% or 20%. 50£ cants go wrong with that!

Hopefully · 14/06/2012 14:17

Thank you for the kind words everyone. Am still feeling really blue about it, which is unusual for me. Hit a bit close to home - I'm aware I'm stretched thin ATM, but there's nothing I can do till we move.

Amber that link isn't working for me, will try on computer.
