Oh yes Blue, I would put it on the back burner for now too.

My friend has just potty trained her DD, she is the same age at DS exactly. It was really clear to me that her DD is streets ahead of DS, she sits on the potty perfectly etc. If anything it made me certain that DS is nowhere near ready!

We have an IKEA red potty though, I find it a good fit for boys 'bits'. It lives in the middle of of sitting room, (very Elle deco Wink) and he just sits on it when he wants and plays with it. That's as far as we have got!

Oh thank you so so much! Really cheered by your tales. DS is very strong willed and characterful and I can see that he's just not bothered yet. Have just been feeling a little inadequate! Really appreciate your support. I'll definitely back off and take it at his pace.

Have escaped from house to pick up friend from station (the one with the very poorly DM). Have just time to pop into the Mulberry selling shop and Primark in my slightly odd local town!

AmberNectarine · 12/06/2012 15:19

blue great advice here, have used book annie linked to great effect! Don't stress, you know your child better than anyone, and if you don't think he's ready he most likely isn't. DS pretty much trained now but I found him giving Upsy Daisy 'a bath' in his potty the other day. Let's just say she wasn't getting any cleaner...

Right, tone sufficiently lowered, onto my haul. Got boring but useful T Alexander Wang tank (grey, too boring to link but great quality and 70% off), a Vanessa Bruno cabas in grey, bigger version of the one Jessica Alba has here - £34, which I though was a bargain and will hopefully make me look like a Parisian teenager, and finally, my favourite a pink Isabel Marant scarf, silk and totally beautiful! Could have bought a lot more, but am waiting for Selfridges...

Annie I just posted on her thread. Poor woman having to mix with such dreadful people at groups! Wish I had time to make more stuff for the DSs, these houses (they have multiplied slightly since then) are one of the most used toys we have, as well as a patchwork ball I made when DS1 was tiny.

Nice buys Amber.

COS sale starts online tonight at 11 (??) and in store on Thursday.

rufus101 · 12/06/2012 20:02

Blue Id give the TT a rest for even a few weeks. It's amazing how it just clicks with them, and as everyone says they are all different. My youngest was TT at 2, but he pretty much did it himself, whereas the other two were 3 and 2/12 and 2 and 9/12. If he's ready, you will be done and dusted in a few days.
Great buys Amber. I am finding it hard to muster up enthusiasm for the sales. Unless I can wear it in A/W I'm just not going to buy it.
I am still tempted by these MCQ mesh shoe boots Maybe they have them in your size here in Matches Bloss. Er..making the assumption that you actually like them!
Entertained by the A/E stories MIM! I once saw someone who had a Reach toothbrush up there! Didn't even bother asking him what he was doing with it there, just pre-oped him for the GA to remove it. The x ray was truly hilarious. There's nowt as queer as folk and that is for sure.
Poor you NY. I had all mine removed in Uni. Under local. Grim. They practically had to stand on the chair to get leverage to yank them out. And I think they thougtht I was a complete ninny for yelling nervously.(FFS youre a medical student. Man up.) Lots and lots of pain relief.

Hopefully · 12/06/2012 20:48

Rufus those boots are scary! I wouldn't mess with you Grin

Ugh, am all short of energy and eating everything in sight. Keeping up with Insanity, but struggling with keeping appetite under control. Perfectly happy to eat healthy stuff, so I figure it's not too bad. Am about to tuck into a bowl full of stewed rhubarb and Greek yog.

Am about to go and hide upstairs to continue with my A/W capsule wardrobe spreadsheet. Suspect my mother (staying this week for childcare) would think I had properly lost it if she saw it...

suburban · 12/06/2012 20:57

Hopefully I meant to post this yesterday, but forgot. I have a diet book that suggests making your own protien shakes using one scoop of whey protein powder, soy milk and then vanilla essence/cocoa powder/peanut butter for flavouring. I thought that sounded nicer than than an artificially sweetened one.

I am so uninspired by the sales, the only thing I can imagine buying and then actually wearing is this barbour

Amber I read that one of the big department stores, think Selfridges had to pull their sales advertising campaign at the last minute because it had so many complaints. Pictures showed the models wetting themselves with excitement Grin.

loobylu3 · 12/06/2012 21:18

Can I be v rude and jump in with a quick question before I catch up?

Am thinking of getting some Oasis cherry jeans in the sale (the red ones specifically). I know quite a few of you have them- what is the sizing like as I won't be able to judge accurately just now. :)

Will catch up properly later/ tomorrow.

notyummy · 12/06/2012 21:26

I think Oasis is fairly average Looby. Smaller than Reiss/Gap/M and S, but probably bigger than Zara.

That was HN, suburban, and to be fair I did nearly wet myself with excitement in there. I was really pissed off that I had to go and meet DH for lunch and couldn't try on shoes...

Hopefully · 12/06/2012 21:49

Looby I found Oasis pretty average too - I'm a 10, I was a 10 in the cherry jeans (they weren't flattering on me, but they did fit).

Interestingly, this thread must get a lot of lurkers - in the five hours or so since posting a link to my blog I have had about 100 unique hits from here.

AmberNectarine · 12/06/2012 21:53

Jesus! That is a lot of lurkers to know about my spending...

suburban · 12/06/2012 21:54

Oh ok Amber, that very nearly happened to my friend and I after we had one Starbucks too many waiting to get into Macy's on Black Friday.

Hopefully I was one of those unique hits, you are seriously talented

AmberNectarine · 12/06/2012 21:58

I love sale season. I actually get way too involved, DH gets quite alarmed by the intensity. Bargain fever. Loved your post on sales btw suburban.

It's a great recipe Annie, and I can see it would stand up to a fair bit of tweaking as appropriate too.

DonaAna · 12/06/2012 22:19

Me too, way too much Blush I snatched a Marni coatdress from Outnet and a pair of nude Castaners from Yoox. Yoox is a pain to use but they have some really good dicounts there.

Yes! Don't mess with me Hopefully. I love the look of those cookies and have book marked. Any handy tip for metric or oz measurements? Can't get my head around American. I made some really really easy flapjacks last week. Really yum, BUT they did have 4oz of butter and 4 oz of brown sugar (always seems that little bit healthier) in them.
FlapJacks Traybake
60z Jumbo oats
6oz plain flour
4oz of butter
4 oz of light brown sugar
2 tbsp golden syrup
1 egg
1 tsp ginger or cinnamon
raisins /nuts or whatever you're having yourself!

melt buter, sugar and syrup in microwave.
mix into the dry with beaten egg
put in lined tin and bake for 20 min at 180

Dead easy!
