emo Maybe you could sit at the back and sneak out Wink

pickledsiblings · 12/06/2012 10:06

Emo, have a great day in Paris, wish I was going with you.

Ollie, I loved your idea of homemade vouchers for your friend, I hope her treatment goes well.

NY, I thought you might have gone for Bloss's wedge wellies, we need a photo of you in the sparkly black ones and board room frock.

Love the 20s hairstyles and outfits Fritzi.

DD is off to her new school (in a largish town) for the afternoon which means I'll get the chance to do some real life shopping, sadly no great shops like Emo's but lots of mediocre ones. First day of new job tomorrow and panicking slightly about what to wear...

ReineDeSaba · 12/06/2012 10:54

Morning!

Have been behind on thread stuff as been away over half term and only caught up now

Have an amazing time in Paris emo I'm well jel!

pickled no outfit advice for working wardrobe..I just used to sling a white coat over everything Wink

ollie you truly are an awesomely supernice lady.Lovely ideas all for your poor friend.Did you mention freezer meals for the family,I can't remember.I felt quite sad after Brighton that you weren't closeby though you and fritzi make such big effort to get to us.

yummy sparkly wellies would be right up my street.

annie you work sooo hard and do so much for your lovely girls, would be fab if you could carve out a little Dublin time.

Need to disappear again DD2 wants hugs! Grin

Reine - great to see you! When you get back, please counsel me on my tale of woe re my wisdom tooth... At the age of 40 my final wisdom tooth has decided to make an appearance, the others have all been removed years ago. It is a bit sore and tricky to eat. I am going to go to the dentist, but I just wondered how common this is. I am 40 FFS! Surely the only things still developing on my body should be ...erm...jowls?!

Hopefully · 12/06/2012 11:15

Shock at broom man MIM

NY three of my wisdom teeth are partially out and get really sore every now and again (they can't come out any further as I broke my jaw when I was younger and they are all pointing into the teeth in front) and the bloody NHS won't let take them out because I'm not in constant agony... Apparently if I go in and lie and say I'm in constant pain I can have them out Hmm because just intermittent pain is not sufficient.

Pickled have you got an outfit shortlist?

Have just consumed a really nice cookie. It was based on this recipe but with a bit less honey, an extra egg white and more oats and some seeds and raisins thrown in (but the nuts taken out, bleurgh). It's more soft and doughy than a normal chewy cookie on account of not being 80% butter, but it's a really good mid-morning snack to keep going till lunch (I hope).

Just done HN sale, has started early! Will report back on purchases shortly, have Marant!

notyummy · 12/06/2012 12:23

That's terrible about your teeth Hopefully. I got one of mine out in the RAF and the other two prior to joining on the NHS, although it was done at the teaching hospital by a student dentist with a senior person looking over their shoulder shouting 'OMG, not THERE!! Don't do it like THAT.' (I may be exaggerating slightly. All free though.) I now pay for Denplan and hardly ever need anything other than a quick check up so they better sort me out sharpish!!

Amber - most jealous of the HN sale.

Just back from getting DD weighed. She is a whopper, 14.9 at 12 weeks...eek!

Red I finally posted DS's clothes today - sorry for the delay. Hope they help.

Amber, do tell!

Have decided to embrace this weather and start thinking of a AW wish list. It will include the following:

Knitwear - need a few pieces as I have been either pg, post pg or ttc'ing for the last few winters and have not really bothered.

New indigo skinnies - I have a hudson pair that are a tad too long for daytime wear. Would like a super skinny pair, such as JBrand 910's.

Sequin mini - I want to re-create an outfit that Wendy did for my birthday this year.

Leather mini - been wanting one for years. Might be muttonous, we shall see. Wink

Black ankle boots - If TS bring out Ambush in black again, they would be perfect.

Russianred · 12/06/2012 13:04

Marant Amber - sounds exciting. Do reveal all!

MiM your A/W list looks a bit like mine! Am also hoping for the Ambush to come in black again as I've realised that I can, in no way, justify buying a pair of Pistols unless i am spoilt once more by wealthy stepfathers. Thank you so much for the bits - perfect timing as I have got enough together to warrant sending over a big box. You are lovely. Also, Whistles have got some lovely knitwear in the clearance bit on their website. Some very you bits.

I will also need to add workwear bits to my A/W repertoire. I think I should try very, very hard to develop a capsule working wardrobe. Suggestions please ladies. I have my lovely interview outfit and will build on that. Would like to avoid skirts where possible.

Everything I also very much like the peter pan jumper Ollie linked to. Might I be a bit gamine too? Would be a good work basic I think. How's everything looking today?

Have fun in Paris Emo Envy.

Hope DD gets on well tomorrow Pickled - how are you feeling about her going to 'big' school?

DS has spots on him that keep disappearing and then coming up again. Most strange.

ReineDeSaba · 12/06/2012 13:13

Hi quick post for yummy DD2's love is quite intense Hmm at the moment so having to hide!

Probably quite common to have WTT later on in life(sorry you're not exactly in twighlight years!) as used to remove all WT 'just in case' in the past but policies changed to on 'needs to basis' I did a year at Huddersfield infirmary doing WT removal under G.A so let me know if you need specific advice. Can't work out whether your's is impacted or fully erupted but could be decay as hard to get to with brush or just gum very irritated.Your story about having a student with teacher in tow reminded me of when the teacher left the room and a student in my year took out the wrong tooth.Not.Good.At.All.

Though do have to say loved Wendy's sequin skirt look mim and I used to work with a lady who'd done A and E nursing.. most enlightening Shock ..think hoover bits,oranges..

FritziGreenEyes · 12/06/2012 13:17

hopefully/notyummy Hope you can see your dentists soon and get everything sorted. Painkillers in the meantime? I had my WT extracted under GA when I was 13 and teeth still tiny. Almost everyone my age had it done in teenage years.

MidnightinMoscow · 12/06/2012 13:19

You think broom man was bad, you should hear about "can of lilt" man. Grin

notyummy · 12/06/2012 13:21

Thanks Reine! All three of mine so far done under local and really not fun tbh (hooked roots on one of them, with Dental nurse holding my shoulders as the RAF dentist dripped sweat on my face from the effort of heaving....) Right up their - with my non-epidural forceps - as Things I Would Rather Not Do Again.

(Many apologies to anyone with dental fear. )

blue2711 · 12/06/2012 13:29

Please can you nice people come and tell me it's ok to give up on potty training at the moment?! It's going from bad to worse. He is getting stressed and so am I. Seems to have no inclination to use the potty at all really. My DM is making me feel I just need to get in with it as he's 3 in
August. Feel like I'm being a bit of a wimp, but is it true that they suddenly are magically ready and then it all happens much more easily?

Sorry for wailing at you all!

Wish I was in Paris with emo or the HN sale!

Need to get out of this house!!!

Hopefully · 12/06/2012 13:31

Blue it is totally true, honestly. I didn't train DS till he was about 3 and a month, and it was all done in 4 days, with only one of those being majorly stressful (only in that he was worried, not because there were actually any accidents). I think he has had perhaps two accidents in the 9 or so months since potty training. I believe SE didn't do it till her DS was around 3 either, and had a similar experience.

Russianred · 12/06/2012 13:33

Absolutely wait Blue - DS was 2.4 and was fine with weeing after 5 days, but getting him to poo was a 6 month long ordeal. Should have waited. Ignore MiL - they are thinking of the terry towelling days, iykwim.

blue have to say waiting is a great idea re toilet training. When your child is at the perfect stage it seems to best much easier and done in a few days!!! I ignored all unhelpful comments from MIL and agree that in the 70s it seemed in vogue to train v early. My neighbour once took great joy in explaining she toilet trained her sons at 12 months in the 70s.....was horrified until my mum explained what the woman really meant was In the 70s you left a child on the potty until they filled it. Made me feel much more cheerful hearing that.
Love your A/W lists....sounds fab.
Just been to see the Olympic torch in scone palace! Brilliant!!! All flags and bunting.....didnt see Jeremy vine though!

DonaAna · 12/06/2012 14:09

Blue you can wait - my 1st was very late at being trained, well over 3, 2nd was potty-trained by the first at age 2.

Right, a cup of tea and a moment to relax bf the school run.
Bloss thanks for the Sweaty Betty tip - I found three fantastic tops. I'm a Summer so their greens and corals are my favorite and best colors. Will reward myself with them if I manage to do a slew of boring work-related stuff.

I bought an Aigle Fetching trench coat in bright red from the sales. Last year I was in full-time SAHM mummy mode despite working 2 days per week. At that time, practical and sporty Danefae coats made perfect sense, but I needed a dressier trench for my fabulous (and relatively rain-free) life in Rome and the Aigle fits the bill. It's really, really nice! Sized quite small; fantastic detailing and quality. (Have been looking for a good Burberry for ages, but gave up - they just don't do my colors, ever.)

Bonsoir, I have a couple of Gerard Darel dresses for everyday wear. They must use my measurements, they fit perfectly.

I dumped all my bank statements, credit card bills and phone bills and other paperwork too boring to mention into the pretty, marbled Matches box: this makes dull filing much nicer. My sewing stuff lives in a black NAP box and I'm taking a stack of Italian Vanity Fairs to my friend in an Outnet bag. Do I see a pattern forming?

ReineDeSaba · 12/06/2012 14:23

Hope all goes well for you yummy . You are definitely on a par with my Shetland fisherman patients for stoicsm.Jillian would be so proud!

mentally crosses lilt off shopping list for ever.

blue I didn't attempt to potty train DD1 early.kept broaching it but she wan't keen at all and I was pregnant/nauseous so held back.In the end a few months before she turned 3 she used the potty by herself.Night dry after a week and no accidents at all.She was just ready and had been absorbing my info along the way.so don't sweat it.

thank you annie and I will see you right in Dublin!
