Morning.

SE, how awful for you...hope you get to work ok. Sorry about DH too hopefully.

I am so grumpy with this weather. It is set to rain all day here again today, I am wearing a thick jumper and jeans as its freezing. Everyone told me I was so lucky to have a spring baby, and that I'd be out and about in the lovely weather....it was better when I had DS in the middle of December.

Had a lovely time at my friends house on Saturday, her DD's entertained DS for long periods and so was able to catch up properly. Yesterday we had our street jubilee party which was fun but cold and wet.

I have my day planned in London next Tuesday when DH gets back from his golfing trip so am hoping the sales will have started by then. Am counting down the days to my day of freedom. Smile

Hopefully · 11/06/2012 11:08

Thanks Amber, I'll hold fire for now and see if any come up. Have finally admitted that two pair of jeans is not going to get me through indefinitely, and my Agnes are actually getting a teeny bit big (Sad and Smile at once).

FritziGreenEyes · 11/06/2012 11:11

mim How exciting! What are your plans for your day in London?

pickled I never go shopping in heels these days. Cobbled streets where we live Smile

I suspect a wander around Selfridges Fritzi, then maybe up to Marylebone High Street. Really want to have lunch here though.

Hopefully · 11/06/2012 11:34

SE is town functioning? Just debating wrapping up the boys and going to post office, but not sure we'll survive!

FritziGreenEyes · 11/06/2012 11:39

Great plan mim. That place looks wonderful for lunch. Have bookmarked for future visits Smile.

Clarks sandals have to go back as they are very tight around my toes and too lose around the heel. Plus I "found" a pair of Castanet sand coloured suede wedge espadrilles at the back of my wardrobe. They are lovely and comfortable and I am not sure why I haven't worn them much last year Hmm.

My Matches order also arrived and I might have actually gasped when I saw the beautiful packaging it came in: A wonderful marble print box with a magnetic clasp! I am keeping the Maxmara slouchy linen cardi. Acne jumper is horribly itchy and the Birger waistcoat is too big and looks very odd on me. Back they go!

FritziGreenEyes · 11/06/2012 11:44

Oh no, I just read in the Matches Returns Policy that I am supposed to return the beautiful marbled box. Do you think they let me get away with returning it in another box!?!?!

FritziGreenEyes · 11/06/2012 11:45

Have just noticed how self-centered my last posts must sound to those being flooded, sorry... Blush Hope the rain stops soon!

Hopefully · 11/06/2012 12:36

DH's work has just started ferrying (ha) people home in the bigger vans and 4 wheel drives, so he should be back soon, yay! Although car still trapped.

Fritzi can't you keep the box if you're keeping part of the order? I was sad to send mine away when I returned the dicker boots.

DS2 v whiny today, but not noticeably ill/teething.

rufus101 · 11/06/2012 12:47

Gosh. Can't believe your flooding SE. How awful.
Hope your DH is rescued Hopefully.
Sunny here today. Gasp! Although DS1(aged7) said to me this morning "you need to put some more fake tan on your legs mum. Your face is ok though. It doesn't lo

rufus101 · 11/06/2012 12:51

Er pressed too early! "your face doesn't look white". For the life of me I am amazed he even knows of the existence of fake tan!
The MW sale has started!!! Bloss can't link now, but there's a pair of pointy McQ metal tipped boots that I think you would like and would work equally well with skirts/dresses etc.
I'm waiting for Donna Ida sale as well. Want J Brand majors. So so annoyed that I missed out on them being reduced to 90 dollars on shop bop. (kicks self fiercely)

ApuskiMcClusky · 11/06/2012 12:55

Shock at the flooding situation, especially your garden SE. It's miserable but not heavy rain here, might need to get the Wii out this afternoon.

I now seem to have the whole village on the case to find me childcare after a few conversations this morning. The problem is there are only three childminders locally, all full, and any CMs further away are unlikely to do preschool and school drop-offs. Nanny advert written and ready to post. Going away on holiday is going to make interviews difficult though! I'm going to try to save agent fees this time unless things get desperate. Which they might!

I've not told the boys yet - nanny has been with us since September and has been fab so they will be very sad. She's trying to be as flexible as she can without keeping her new employers waiting too long, not a new nanny job though so she can negotiate a little.

Sorry, I am being entirely self absorbed, I can't quite get my head into S&B right now!

blossoming · 11/06/2012 12:58

Matches order arrived here too while I was out. And all going back. Please someone shoot me if they hear me buying coloured esp red jeans again? Honestly, I should have learnt my lesson with the Paige ones, the Vince ones....
What is it about them that makes me look SO fat? Also I much prefer J Brand low rise, to the mid rise. Loved the colour of the blue bonnets though. I sized down as they didn't have my normal size. Maybe they could be a contender in my normal size if another store reduces them. But with this weather...
Sounds awful for you se and hopefully. The floods at the weekend were where I used to live. Awful to think of friends in that situation.
Thanks for thinking of me rufus. I'll trawl through the site!

ladies I bring grave news - J Crew bypass Europe to open in Asia! I was so looking forward to them opening over here!

blue2711 · 11/06/2012 13:33

So sorry to hear about flooding chaos everything and hopefully. Am sympathetic to you too ny, I get really angry when lovely things get ruined because of our stupid weather. It's far worse in summer, when you always have the forlorn hope that there might actually be sunshine. Honestly, if it wasn't for family, I would move to Majorca right now.

Miserably potty training here. Day 1 not going well. DS finished the morning wailing 'i don't want pants! I want nappies!' so really don't know whether to continue or not. He'll be 3 in August though and starts pre school in September so I'm feeling a little anxious, thought trying not to let on to him obviously.

No S and B news. Can't even get excited about the sales, which is so unlike me. Think it's the weather. Do like 40 bum lady's Zara sequin cardigan though and am coveting a pair of heavy black lace shorts I've seen (will try and find and link) so might be tempted to put in yet another order from them.

I love my matches marbled box! Keep it fritzi!

Honestly, bloss suggesting I may be Classic Romantic has made such an impact on me. Looking at my wardrobe this morning it does make sense with most of my clothes. Today wearing pink skinnies, white gauzy cotton blouse with embroidered neckline, and slim fitting grey and white striped cardigan. Not sure where leopard print fits though, unless it counts as a classic print now!

I might go and look for some pieces that would work for AW on MW now: pale grey knitwear and another great pair of ballerinas / slippers are on my crossover list.

blue2711 · 11/06/2012 13:34

Me too emo! How disappointing.

Sorry to hear about the nanny situation apuski.

MidnightinMoscow · 11/06/2012 13:45

Matches order also here too. Although my box is damaged. Keeping the JBrands and the Velvet top. Sorry you didn't get on with the jeans Bloss.

Really hope you have a new Nanny soon Apuski.

Yes! They're the ones Bloss!! Think they look awful on their own but the way they're styled I can totally see myself in them! ?Suit Dramatic gamine???!

DonaAna · 11/06/2012 14:07

My sympathy to all of you who are affected by flooding. Hope the weather improves soon. Also feel for you with nanny problems - my life veers into chaos if my nanny misses just one day.

Fritzi I also received my Matches order in the überlovely marbled box. Really, it's too pretty. Haven't tried on my purchases yet (have been trying to work and will pick up my daughter now).

MidnightinMoscow · 11/06/2012 14:57

Amber Are these the heliotrope 811's? on sale here

AmberNectarine · 11/06/2012 15:07

Hmm, not sure mim, I think they're a bit more lilac-y than that. Matches had them when I went the other day, but not in my size. Need to look online. I think ideally I want to find them for £50 in Selfridges :)

OllieinOrange · 11/06/2012 15:25

Flooding sounds awful. Its amazing just how quickly the water can rise. Hope it stays away from your door Everything and I dont end up seeing you on the 10 o clock news (but maybe outfit plan just in case Smile)?

Good point about the JCrew dress Fritzi. Its 89cm in length - so a tiny bit shorter than ideal for me. Have sent it to a friend who loves navy and orange so hope she buys it. Btw, rang The White Company today to check where my dress order was (at parents apparently) and made the point about not receiving their brouchures - CS lady manually updated my details and requested them for the future.

Blue I tried the 40 blog Zara sequin blazer on - wasnt sure if it was a bit long for me at the time but starting to think I should have got it. Looked nice with paler jeans. 40 lady had some great Clark sandal suggestions I thought. Shame yours didnt fit Fritzi - I dont have wide feet but find many shoes (eg Massimo Dutti) too narrow at the moment.

MiM really looking forward to hearing about your day off. I love planning and looking forward to such things - esp where to have lunch! Agree with Fritzi - loved the font/typeface on your crockery collection.

Amber I really laughed at your Kate Middleton-of-the-road comment on the LKB thread. You have a real gift for writing humourous comments.

Another thread has inspired me to buy some navy mascara. Sounds great for blue eyes. Did anyone else spent their teenage years bathed in electric blue mascara?

A lovely friend (Mum from school) who has thyroid cancer is about to start her radiotherapy treatment - Im going to put together (on behalf of a group of us) a bag full of goodies to help see her through the period she has to be in isolation for. What else can I get apart from a selection of magazines, variety of smellies, some flowers and a good book? She is on a special diet so no shortbread/scones etc (ie my staple go to's). Im sure Im missing a nice treat for her???
