have experimented and think it either looks good or deranged

I use powder to colour and a brow gel to set, I did have a brow pencil but I found it hard to apply without getting a scouse brow.

Russianred · 18/05/2012 21:13

I use a Laura Mercier brow pencil - very easy to apply and looks good IMO.

TheCountessOlenska · 18/05/2012 21:14

Yes - rimmel pencil in hazel. Very very subtley. I have pathetic eyebrows so I have to put something on them.

BackforGood · 18/05/2012 21:15

Yes very occasionally, when I bother with makeup at all, so only a couple of times a year I use a pencil as my eyebrows are very fair and my hair isn't Hmm

emsyj · 18/05/2012 21:15

I use a pencil, but it's a blonde shade (I am blonde) so probably easier to get a naturalish result than if you're very dark perhaps?? I like the idea of the powder and gel, must investigate further.

I think your brows are such a focal point of your face that any change is going to look very very strange to you at first. It might be best to get a very blunt honest friend to tell you what they think of your made-up brows rather than going by what you think yourself, simply because it might feel like a huge difference to you, but may be quite subtle to an outside observer.

Springforward · 18/05/2012 21:17

No, I don't know how to do it without looking like a clown, TBH.

mumofjust1 · 18/05/2012 21:17

I've got a brow gel pen thing from avon and its really good!

It's a coloured gel and has little fibres in it and it fills my brows in nicely. It looks really natural too - my mum has fair hair and brows and it really suits her and makes a hell of a difference to her brows.

Krumbum · 18/05/2012 21:19

I use a light brown no 7 eyebrow pencil. I look eyebrowless without doing it.

LaWobble · 18/05/2012 21:20

Use powder rather than a pencil if you are not confident in avoiding the clown look. A very light application of powder (i just use a dark brown eye shadow) makes a big difference.

NinthWave · 18/05/2012 21:22

I use a brown eyeshadow with a small angled brush. Not loads, just enough to make my face look 'finished' IYKWIM.

invicta · 18/05/2012 21:23

No.

cybbo · 18/05/2012 21:23

I have to draw something on above my eyes. have hardly any eye brows left as the outerbhalf has worn away with age

I use Bare Minerals eyebrow pencil or Smashbox brow stuff which is okay

I think it takes years off you to have a fuller brow

whackamole · 18/05/2012 21:31

Yes. Always. I have dark hair and dark brows, but due to over-plucking as a teen they are very sparse.

I normally draw them in with my MAC eyebrow crayon (it's very soft so corrections easily made) or if I can be bothered I'll use my BeneFit BrowZings which is a little pallette with a wax and a powder. It's really worth it I think, a structured brow gives a more 'polished' look.

Bunbaker · 18/05/2012 21:32

No, never. I have dark eyebrows and they don't need any extra help.

Yes. Eyebrow Pencil and highlighter from soap and glory is great.

Dawndonna · 18/05/2012 21:45

I use the benefit eyebrow kit, it's quite dark, but I have no eyebrows due to alopecia.

PerryCombover · 18/05/2012 21:47

Mac dirty fair

IHeartBobEvans · 18/05/2012 21:58

Yes, I use a brow pencil because I have a section of eyebrow missing on one eye which looks weird if I don't fill it in. Have found a pencil that is just the right colour for me, can't remember who its by though.

ginmakesitallok · 18/05/2012 22:22

No - not any more.

Years ago DP, his BF and I were getting ready to go out. We were really stoned and I decided that it would be a good time to "Do my eyebrows". They said I looked great - so off we headed out for a night on the tiles (with me looking fab because of my "done" eyebrows).

Got up the next morning and I swear to God I looked the double of Groucho Marx - but worse.

Haven't gone near an eyebrow pencil since....

I use MAC eyeshadow in Charcoal or Brun, with a flat angled brush.

blueshoes · 19/05/2012 01:25

Yes, always. I have dark hair but eyebrow pencil still makes a noticeable difference. It frames the eyes and gives a polished groomed look.

Of course, you should neaten the brows and also wear eye make up to balance out the brows. I just use a little eye liner.

RoxyRobin · 19/05/2012 01:45

I have virtually no eyebrows.

This came about because in the early seventies when I was a teenager girls would pluck their eyebrows almost to extinction to achieve a very fine, surprised arc. It was the look to have. We all looked bloody stupid.

I must have done this for a couple of years while the fashion lasted. Then when fuller eyebrows became the thing I stopped the brutal plucking - but they didn't grow back. Even though I'd had quite thick black eyebrows previously, I was now almost bald.

I've had to use an eyebrow pencil ever since; without it I'd look comical. However, it always looks much too artificial.

It's always been a great regret - I wish someone had warned me this might happen.

revolutionconfirmed · 19/05/2012 01:56

I use Benefit Brows A Go Go or W7's eyebrow palette in 'Warm'. It's just a powder with a small angled brush. Both colours are very pigmented and look great on. Without my eyebrows filled in I look ridiculous (very fair eyebrows teamed with chestnut hair and black eyelashes).
