Starting a style blog, any tips :-) ?

Having been inspired by lots of the style blogs I've read about on here I've decided to start my own one, and just wondered if any of you lovely bloggers on here have any tips for me?

What is the best way to get followers of the blog? Am I best just following other blogs and hope they follow mine too? Also do PR companies contact you if your blog is good?

I'm so excited, it's all set up, I just need DH to take some photos of me when he gets home tonight and I'll be doing my first post

Make sure your photos are big

suburbanstyle · 18/05/2012 13:02

the lazy girl's guide to blogging have fun!

spooktrain · 18/05/2012 13:06

good luck!

please say you are a size 14 and don't have legs like 2 pieces of spaghetti -
I think there is a real gap in the market for a style blog for people who are thunderous of thigh not a size 8

I'd love to see your first post even if you are skinny

FrozenPetisPois · 18/05/2012 13:20

I'd be very interested in your blog if you live up to your name and wear clothes from shops like Primark Grin

Spookey80 · 19/05/2012 14:59

Love, love blogs. But can't find them on my own. Please tell me what is yours going to be called? So I can find it.x

revolutionconfirmed · 19/05/2012 15:10

Cheap mixed with vintage and higher end if you can afford it.
'How to style x item' posts showing one item in several different styles.
Link to items that are still available for purchase.
Do make up and skincare reviews too if you can. PR companies send lots of freebies like this.

You can pay for adverts with a banner on other people's style blogs quite cheaply or arrange a 'promo for promo' arrangement.

Feature other style bloggers you admire/like. The more business you bring them the more likely you are to be featured on their blogs/if they like your blog they may link to you in a post.

Go to bloggers meet ups in your area. There are some great ones for Scottish, Welsh and English bloggers.

From your username I presume you will be featuring clothing and styles from relatively cheaper shops like Primark etc... and good on you! I think there is a huge gap in the market for women who only have funds to shop in the cheaper high street shops and in my opinion cheap and cheerful clothing works just as well as more high end items especially in the Summer(?) season...still waiting on that to occur..... I do wonder about some of the blogs that I have seen though. I wonder do these women dress themselves, take a picture and promptly pull on trainers, jeans and a top to continue their day??? Either that or they must have nannys to help sort out their little ones. Also I wonder do they do a trawl of the shops, buy a load of stuff, photograph themselves in it and then return the items! Otherwise unless they are very comfortable financially I don't know how they can afford the weekly outfit buying! I dress from all ends of the market and put stuff together well IMO! I am in a profesional job so have to dress well every week day, but I do throw everything off, jump into a tracksuit or pjs as soon as I get home...couldn't bare to have to do the housework, cook, iron etc dressed like I am going out for "Sunday lunch" or a walk in the park! Sorry if this post rambles on a bit!

Thank you so much everyone!

I'll post the link to my blog in a couple of days, just got a bit more tweaking to do and a few more pics to put on :)

Thanks again all!

I've done a few entries now so here is the link to my blog for those that wanted to see it:

I'm following a few blogs from here but would love to read others' blogs too if you want to let me know the links for them!

No idea how to get the link to work but copying and pasting into the browser should do the trick :)

I really like it! The sorts of things I have hiding in my wardrobe but never know what to wear them with. Keep up the good work Grin

LaWobble · 21/05/2012 16:24

Hi, I like your navy dress and cardi look. I'm a bit of a cheap dress and cardi with leggings person myself!

I could never get away with wearing that white t-shirt dress though. Far too many lumps and bumps Wink

Keep up the good work, it's nice to see a style blog that people on a fairly low income can aspire to.

Primarnigirl · 21/05/2012 16:28

Thanks lovelies, glad you like it!

I have commented, but it doesn't seem to have come up? Confused

Primarnigirl · 21/05/2012 16:43

I normally receive email notification of comments but haven't had the email either. How odd. Perhaps it'll take a little while to show up?

I like it :) I'm following it now, nice to see someone from the same county as me and who shops in the same shops as I do. I find blogs which only feature £££ clothes very off putting so yours is lovely.

Primarnigirl · 21/05/2012 16:46

Thanks Stella! We might even be in the same town (Begins with K, large town). I know what you mean about pricey clothes in blogs. One in particular that I follow seems to feature such expensive things. I really love reading it but am just gobsmacked at the price of some of the things the blogger wears. how the other half live, hey!

I love that you shop in H&M and primark (ny staple shops) and that you have the same taste as me. I do love fashion blogs, but find then a little depressing at the the same time iyswim?

Primarnigirl · 21/05/2012 16:53

I totally know what you mean, MrsNouveau (great name btw!!). I really love H&M and Primark, H&M in particular as the stuff is just so well-priced.

I think I may be very close if it's the town I'm thinking of, Captain Vancouver?

Primarnigirl · 21/05/2012 16:55

Yep that's the one Stella :) I'm just outside it in one of the villages (North W)

I'm in W.N, Gt Massingham Grin

Primarnigirl · 21/05/2012 16:59

Ah yes I know Gt Massingham, I had a friend that lived there a few years ago. Let me know if ever you fancy meeting up for a coffee in town, I'm always up town in the new Primark, lol
