Does this all work together?

I have a trendy type wedding in a few weeks. Full of london media types (i used to be one before moving to the shires!)

I already have this dress

was going to pair it with

this blazer

and

theses shoes

with maybe an orange /gold cuff on my arm. What the verdict?

Like the dress/shoes combo - neat, chic, interesting colour combo.

Like the cuff idea.

DOn't like the blazer - bit shapeless???

Gapants · 17/05/2012 12:20

this is the other blazer choice

OP posts:
LumpyLatimer · 17/05/2012 13:51

Yeah I MUCH prefer that one. It looks a little shorter and more tailored so won't swamp the dress...

pinktortoise · 17/05/2012 14:46

Dress looks very short on website? That with the shoes may be abit much? Like the blazers.

Gapants · 17/05/2012 16:14

the dress is about 2 inches above my knees...maybe a lower wedge?

OP posts:
lumbago · 17/05/2012 16:15

Sorry. All looks naff.

lumbago · 17/05/2012 16:16

(Lolz at self extolling Tesco t shirts on one thread ;) )

UnnamedFemaleProtagonist · 17/05/2012 16:19

I think it looks cheap and awful. Sorry.

Gapants · 17/05/2012 17:35

Hmm, OK cheap and awful and naff. That is pretty damning...

Is it everything together or some elements?

Like I say i have the dress already, it is a great shape on me, not booby at all, quite baggy at the top, into a fitted skirt part. It is on the short side though so have to be careful with what heels as do not want to stray into tarty territory. I had thought the blazer would dress it down a bit?

Other suggestions?

I hate florals, have an athletic size 8/10 figure, and 5.3 and early 30s. I have a heavy brings and a longish layered bob. The Freja...kind of.

I don't mind the dress. But I'm not sure that the shoes and either of those blazers go with it - not that I really know what passes for fashion amongst the trendy london media types!
Is the belt on the dress black? If so, what about a fitted, and cropped, black blazer or a cropped bolero style jacket? I would be inclined to go for a block heeled court or wedge court in black. Think steamlining the colours would pull it all together better.
Aletrantively why not change the belt for another colour one - tan or yellow or aqua or red. You could then go for shoes in a matching colour?

Hopefully · 17/05/2012 18:30

I like both blazers, but I think the shoes are all kinds of wrong for the outfit. I would go for something much more understated - the dress is pretty 'statement' all by itself, without adding too much more. Agree that black wedges could be good.

Hopefully · 17/05/2012 18:31

Actually, the tan and black version of those wedges might not be too bad? these ones

Gapants · 17/05/2012 18:32

I have a black tux jacket but it looks quite severe together.

A coloured belt might work.

I think light grey would work best with the dress on the jacket front, need to rethink shoes....

these?

I would like the outfit if you were going to a club in Ibiza.
It looks cheap and tarty for a wedding.

I know it is all media types but that doesn't excuse tackiness.

Gapants · 17/05/2012 18:39

upahill--tackiness?! What would you wear, honestly I am open to suggestions.

It is the dress isn't it? It is too short for a wedding?

OP posts:
upahill · 17/05/2012 18:46

Yeah it is the dress I think.
I like it but not for a wedding IYSWIM
I would love to wear it on a night out (but I haven't got the legs for it)

I'm not keen on the sandles for the wedding either, although I do like them.

The last wedding I went to I wore a Nicole Fahri dress and killer heels.

greenfern · 17/05/2012 18:47

I think the dress is lovely and i like the colour to. I don't think its to short for a wedding, go girl you will look great. Please don't be put of it.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 17/05/2012 20:04

I think no, sorry. The dres looks very short and a bit tarty (unless it looks v different on you) and lilac blazer, blue dress and red shoes seems a v weird combo. The grey jacket looks very work-ish. A black blazer would be better, if you really wanted to wear that dress - with black heels and a silver cuff.

Gapants · 17/05/2012 20:20

Grey not lilac I think would work better, and more of a boxy Boyf blazer shape.

Different shoes.....

I have these but with just one tan strap across the toe

Any a tan belt rather than the black?

upahill lend me your Nicole Fhari then?? Grin

The dress is fine. Not an obvious choice for a wedding but just fine. IMO 2 inches above the knee really isn't too short. If you lijk it and it suits you stick with it.

The blazers and the sandals are many shades of wrong.

How about these sandals and this blazer and a very simple black clutch?

MrsLettuce · 17/05/2012 20:22

this blazer is also good

MrsLettuce · 17/05/2012 20:24

this is better than the last two

MrsLettuce · 17/05/2012 20:25

Simple silver cuff and small silver / diamond / white gold earrings.

Gapants · 17/05/2012 20:30

I would die in those shoes. No can do.

LOVE the oasis blazer though, thank you!

OP posts:
MrsLettuce · 17/05/2012 20:36

DP do one similar - really not as good but perfectly acceptable. Is half the price. The cut of the collar on the oasis one makes it worth the price difference but it's not crucial.

How do y' feel about matching the shoes to the dress? I'm sure I've seen easier to wear stuff in that colour...
