Does this all work together?

I have a trendy type wedding in a few weeks. Full of london media types (i used to be one before moving to the shires!)

I already have this dress

was going to pair it with

this blazer

and

theses shoes

with maybe an orange /gold cuff on my arm. What the verdict?

I LOVE the shoes and the dress, and think you will fit in perfectly at a London media type wedding (I am a London media type!). Definitely not a black blazer though - ignore that suggestion. Go for it, you sound like you've got the body to pull it off!

MrsCampbellBlack · 17/05/2012 20:44

I think the dress is fine - how about metallic shoes and a raffia clutch - loads round at the moment.

Do you really need a jacket?

MrsLettuce · 17/05/2012 20:48

Erm, you might think I've gone mad. How about these silver slingbacks, skip the jacket and take a lovely, soft fringeless pashmina?

MrsLettuce · 17/05/2012 20:49

x posts there mrsC-B

MrsLettuce · 17/05/2012 20:51

Oh, and an orange bag???? But of better quality

Gapants · 17/05/2012 20:59

Ok, maybe those shoes....maybe need to see them on though.

like the raffia clutch idea, will work that. And the white tux jacket. I think I do need a jacket or else I will feel exposed a bit. I think the dress needs the jacket to elevate it to a wedding look.

mrs lettuce thank you, you are being a big help!

orange, orange or, indeed fuschia, dress blue or [[http://www.zara.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/product/uk/en/zara-S2012/209508/732037/SUEDE%2BCLUTCH%2BBAG multi]

I'll get me coat

MrsLettuce · 17/05/2012 21:08

Oh, forgot to refresh...

Really. Well, I hope so!

A shawl would wedding-a-rise it. Honest. Better than a jacket, I'm certain.

Black shoes, black shawl and a bright bag would also be fine, if the silver are too much. Do go for some with an edge though, too avoid the tarty trap Wink

Silver shoes and v.pale jacket would be odd. The shoes ned to be blue (or black) for that IMHO.

upahill · 17/05/2012 21:09

I think the problem that I have with the dress, although I like it for going out in, is that I feel legs, arms and chest are on show.
It looks too night clubby for a wedding therefore tacky.
Especially if you are thinking of wearing it to the actual wedding rather than the night do.

But if you like it..........

Gapants · 17/05/2012 21:15

upahill-- yes I hear you. But to clarify..my legs are on show. My boobs totally covered, not a smudge of cleavage on show, the sleeves are a titchy bit capped, so really it is just a bit leggy. Also, re arms on show....hence the jacket!!

Now shall I pm you for my Nicole fahri lend??

OP posts:
MrsLettuce · 17/05/2012 21:17

It's just a v neck though - if it falls too open / gapey / low then a single stitch would solve the problem.

It's very short on the model. Inappropriate for a wedding, indeed. On the OP it's just two inches above the knee - not upper to mid thigh - which is a different kettle of fish, no?

MrsLettuce · 17/05/2012 21:20

Refresh Lettuice, refresh.

black patent wedges

BeehavingBaby · 17/05/2012 21:21

I never post here but feel quite strongly about the dress. From your description I see you in a sixties shape mini with long sleeves, or something tiered. Love the Zara blazer suggested though.

Gapants · 17/05/2012 21:27

beehaving got any links? I need to BF though, hence the v neck shape.

I wish I had nice legs for that dress Sad

MrsLettuce · 17/05/2012 21:41

I wish I had feet I could put beautiful shoes on Sad

Gapants · 17/05/2012 21:45

mrslettuce sorry, you do not have any feet? Sad

upahill My legs are my body asset, everything else is at best passable. I have a massive head. I have head issues.

OP posts:
upahill · 17/05/2012 21:47

[grin]@gaspants.

MrsLettuce · 17/05/2012 21:48

Blush sorry. Thankfully I do have feet. Yes. Unfortunately they are so, so, wide I can't wear beautiful shoes (in fact filp flops are difficult too), but yeah, they're there and they work, for which I am grateful.

Gapants · 17/05/2012 21:51

oh god, good, sorry I was a bit weirded out by your post, I was trying to brace myself for your freak lawn mown accident or something!

Off to bed now, thanks for all your help. Might hit the shops at the weekend.

OP posts:
MrsLettuce · 17/05/2012 22:02

Blush Oh dear.

Atrocious use of english was my only accident.

MoonlightandRoses · 17/05/2012 23:02

Might be a bit over budget but definitely media friendly jacket - you could tie it in with a snakeskin skinny belt and it would go with the coral wedge and a metallic raffia or orange / coral clutch.
Or go with the 'traditional' boyfriend blazer,
Or stick with an
stick 80's moderne style.

I quite like the second jacket you linked to as well, but would change the shoes to a strappy heel if that was the case - try Aldo or Dune sale if the ones MrsLettuce linked to are too high.

Gapants · 18/05/2012 17:59

Thanks for your tips moonlight I like the asos one. Lots to think about.

I am currently ill in bed with a sick bug, this is helping!

OP posts:
MoonlightandRoses · 18/05/2012 21:40

Hope you feel better soon - would love to see what you finally pull together too - that dress has lots of potential! Anyway, to distract you further...

fuschia 80's reference shoes
Dotty P's coral court
might not be the right blue or too low
