Staff in Zara

I have bought a linen jacket there today.
The usual miserable service, lack of product knowledge, filthy fitting rooms.

Then my linen jacket was stuffed n the smallest bag you have ever seen.
I had to ask for a bigger bag, and refolded it in front of him. No tissue paper.
No eye contact.

Just shite service.
Yet of course the queue was about 10 deep. Just makes me so cross.

i have always found helpful
you dont want to hear that do you?

mirpuppet · 13/05/2012 17:02

I was there on Thursday and noticed similar crap service -- but as long as "we" keep on buying the crap service will continue.

I was returning.

Mrsrobertduvall · 13/05/2012 17:05

Really lumbago?
I have always found them disinterested and just not engaged with the customer. I used to be a retail manager, so it really gets on my nerves when I don't get decent service.

Yes everytime I go in there so rude, hate it but love the clothes :(

Earlybird · 13/05/2012 17:07

Wonder if it might be better during the week when not so crowded?

Clarabumps · 13/05/2012 17:11

I have rarely seen a member of staff in zara that wasn't on the till.
Enough said.

Mrsrobertduvall · 13/05/2012 17:17

Or they walk around clutching an important rota.

I just think they are spectacularly bad. I usually go in during the week and it makes no difference.
But I do like some of the clothes, because the trousers are long.

i always get good service everywhere, is long running joke with mate of mine. she gets the crap stuff, i RAVE about somewhere - she goes and it is shit.

Mrsrobertduvall · 13/05/2012 17:19

Maybe they just hate me.

AW!!

thats what she says, ive given up recommending now

dexter73 · 13/05/2012 17:22

I never go there anymore as the staff are so rude and the customer service is so shit. This is the Oxford branch btw.

Cherrypie32 · 13/05/2012 18:36

Manageress of Southampton branch thinks she is a superior being, I'm not being funny but Zara manager wouldn't be the pinnacle of my career (if I had one Grin)

lumbago · 13/05/2012 18:53

I like the shape of the Southampton store.
Is best one I've been to

wellwisher · 13/05/2012 18:57

Zara staff are terrible, although I do find the beautiful gay Spanish boys slightly more bearable than the moody rude Spanish girls Grin

noddyholder · 13/05/2012 18:57

The brighton ones are like bloody supermodels (with a lemon in their gob)

blondiedollface · 13/05/2012 19:00

Used to work in Zara, left because the management treated me as badly as they treated their customers... Says it all really!!

HollyMadison · 14/05/2012 04:06

It used to be a lovely place to shop and I was always in their Regent street branch. Now, I agree, it's unpleasant. The clothes are still great but I hope their shopping experience improves because they will be losing custom because of it. So true about the person with the important rota!!

EldonAve · 14/05/2012 07:04

I would agree, never had good service there

EldonAve · 14/05/2012 07:04

I always wonder if you have to be Spanish or speak Spanish to work there?

anniewoo · 14/05/2012 07:33

I actually went up the. manager in my local store to tell her how helpful a member of staff was on Saturday. The assistant was a local girl. I have to say they are always so nice in my local Zara -they have to go a long distance to the stock room but it never seems to be a problem...unlike Zara sizing Sad

Iceflower · 14/05/2012 08:25

Love the Southampton branch too, but hate the customer service, esp their policy regarding returns Angry

Eliza22 · 14/05/2012 09:29

I find they look utterly bored and pissed off, that they have to condescend to server you, at all.

Never used to be that way in Zara, did it?

I tend to buy the kids stuff these days, but frankly, it's rare. There's better places to go....John Lewis own brand kids wear is great and the staff fall over themselves to help you. Well done JL !

tunaday · 14/05/2012 09:30

They're not great in our branch in Leeds either. I didn't realise it was more of a widespread thing till I read this. Just generally miserable here. Where do you find the friendliest most helpful staff? The Topshop lot are lovely my way.

Cherrypie32 · 14/05/2012 09:38

Yep, returns was what got me too. Policy seems out of line with other high street stores and that doesn't suit me as I like to pontificate at home. Manager at Southampton made me take in a bank statement for an exchange.

PropertyNightmare · 14/05/2012 09:39

Agree Topshop staff are usually ace. I once had one lovely girl spend 30 mins with me once, in and out of the changing room fetching things she thought would suit me. Pretty much like a personal shopper really - only without me booking or paying for it! I was feeling a bit 'I can't wear that cos I have a slight Mum Tum' but she got me out of my downer mood and sorted me with some fab clobber. I ended up spending about £250. Even dh did not resent the spend as he could seee that the SA had tried really hard and as a result I was really pleased with the clothes I purchased. Full marks to Toppers, they are a force to be reckoned with.
