I think I must be mad but look at my photos and tell me which outfits work and which don't

I've lost 4.5 stone in the last 18 months and I am trying to get used to dressing for my new size and shape but am struggling to find my way a bit.

In what might be a moment of utter madness I have uploaded some photos to Flickr and I'd love some of you to have a flick through them and tell me if any outfits are good, any are not so good or any suggestions.

I'm looking for honest but not brutal Wink

This is how big I was 18 months ago here

These are my outfit photos here

My main worries are:

  1. I'm 31, am I dressing too young for my age?

  2. Are my legs too fat for dresses?

  3. Do I just look a bit daft?

Thanks to anyone who takes the time to have a look Thanks

Shock Shock Shock Shock

I've just looked at Flickr and my fat photo has had over 1500 views!

Yes, those are the M&S skinnies. Ignore the god-awful styling and go and try them on. I've got the black ones and the dark denim ones and am really pleased with them. I haven't tried the red ones on but I am a size 12 shortie and I think they would be terrible on me - they'd look great on you. Do come back with a pic of them!

drywhiteplease · 12/05/2012 21:35

You're famous!!!!

drywhiteplease · 12/05/2012 21:36

P.s slimming world will be intouch...I guarantee!

NewAndHopefullyImproved · 12/05/2012 21:40

I will Remus and if I can figure out how to get a picture off my phone and onto Flickr I'll upload a pic.

I think she is a MNetter but I've found this blog www.thesuburbanstyle.com and I love her style. Particularly love this outfit www.thesuburbanstyle.com/2012/05/it-worked.html, it seems so effortlessly stylish Envy

Did your dh not think you were a bit mad, putting loads off photos on the web for all of us to comment on :o

NewAndHopefullyImproved · 12/05/2012 21:47

Frankie I don't know, if he did he didn't say anything. Its not totally bonkers though is it? What gave me the idea was a thread recently where a MNetter linked to her Facebook and asked people to describe what they thought she was like based on her photo.
I thought it was really brave and a good way to get honest replies.

I'm just so grateful that people haven't been brutal in their replies!

Definitely worth looking at surburbanstyle.com like you said. I think she has a similar figure to you and always loooks nice. All her stuff is high street too.

PippiL · 12/05/2012 22:22

I think the reason your pics are getting so many views is cos we all secretly want to see what size we are in comparison to work out how much work we need to do to look like you... Just being honest.

It's a massive compliment. You look amazing, and I think you can totally rock the ankle boots and dress look.

I have 2.5 stone to go Wink

BonnieBumble · 12/05/2012 22:26

Wow what an inspiration you are! Love all the clothes Smile

NewAndHopefullyImproved · 12/05/2012 22:30

PippiL Oh, I know! Saying 'here, look at me when I was fat' is always going to get a lot of views. I'd look if someone else did it, I'm really nosey!

I really didn't think it'd be over 1700 views though which is what its on now, shows ho many people view threads without posting on them though and just how many people are on MN.

I think I'll leave them up overnight and pull them tomorrow, I don't really want them there for all eternity. I can use the Flickr account for other pics though, like if I try those jeggings Remus suggested etc.

drywhiteplease · 12/05/2012 22:48

And the red skinnies!!!

NewAndHopefullyImproved · 12/05/2012 23:10

Just realised that I'm out all day tomorrow so I'm going to pull the photos from Flickr now. Thanks for all the advice. I promise I will come back with an update and some more photos Grin

Thank you so much New Hope it wasn't too cheeky to ask but I thought they looked fab and (hopefully) won't look too bad on me a size larger!

Will be going to DP to get me some of those lovely jeans! And may just sidle past New Look to browse the dresses! And if you ever see someone who appears to have stolen your entire wardrobe you'll know it's me, from Mumsnet!

Hope you aren't feeling too freaked out by all those views! That's mad isn't it?! I'm not a frequent posting MNetter but felt compelled to comment as I'd been nosy enough to look, thought you were brave for posting and really do think you look absolutely lovely!

NewAndHopefullyImproved · 12/05/2012 23:15

Thanks Whistling, I really have appreciated people taking the time to offer opinions and advice.

Enjoy your shopping trip!

Excellent, can I hide this thread now? :)

I need you to tell me if you're gonna continue with this one, or start a new "Here's me in colours!" one Grin

NewAndHopefullyImproved · 12/05/2012 23:54

I'll do a new one Garlic, along the lines of 'remember me, the nutter that posted all her outfits on Flickr.....'

garlicbutty · 12/05/2012 23:58

Yippee Grin

If you're going to post your First New Look on the same Flickr account, I'll subscribe to your stream!

No, I've taken them down now, sorry I don't want them up forever. I'll post some more though.

OK, so can I safely subscribe to your empty stream? I think your username's perfect as it is!

Subscribed, hidden and waving colourful pompoms for New :)

suburbanstyle · 13/05/2012 07:57

Hi New... I had a sneaky peek at your pictures yesterday, you look absolutely incredible.

Glad you like my blog. Your head is probably swamped from all the advice yesterday but just wanted to second everything drywhite said. I go round Primark like a mad woman checking the labels of everything to see what it is made from. My orange pumps in that picture are real suede and v comfy Grin.

Have fun shopping
