I think I must be mad but look at my photos and tell me which outfits work and which don't

I've lost 4.5 stone in the last 18 months and I am trying to get used to dressing for my new size and shape but am struggling to find my way a bit.

In what might be a moment of utter madness I have uploaded some photos to Flickr and I'd love some of you to have a flick through them and tell me if any outfits are good, any are not so good or any suggestions.

I'm looking for honest but not brutal Wink

This is how big I was 18 months ago here

These are my outfit photos here

My main worries are:

  1. I'm 31, am I dressing too young for my age?

  2. Are my legs too fat for dresses?

  3. Do I just look a bit daft?

Thanks to anyone who takes the time to have a look Thanks

No to all your questions!

I think you.look fab and have great legs!

I wasn't overly keen on the brown ankle boots.

Loved the red flats! Looked fab!

Dresses really suit you :)

What size were you before and what are you now? You've done so well!:)

justonemorethread · 12/05/2012 14:42

The brown boots look great with the trousers, just not the dress. Maybe flat boots with the dress for a grungy look! And don't be afraid of fitted tops, you're slim now!
Enjoy looking glamorous in your 30s, you're young!

MrsLettuce · 12/05/2012 14:43

I'd suggest colourful cardies too, would be perfect. But, I can see that might be a bit much for you yet.

Dresses with a bit of colour in the print and / or coloured shoes might be an easier place to start.

MissBeehivingUnderTheMistletoe · 12/05/2012 14:43

Why don't you think about getting your colours done. Smile

myBOYSareBONKERS · 12/05/2012 14:45

Would def go for more colour. Just bring it in gradually if it feels a bit "scary" eg a scalf, bold necklace etc.

A huge achievement - well done x

MrsLettuce · 12/05/2012 14:47

yyy yyy too colorful accessories. Chunky bangles are easiest to start with, necklaces will follow (swiftly, I hope Wink)

NewAndHopefullyImproved · 12/05/2012 14:49

I have no idea at all about accessories Blush

Well done!

No, you definitely don't look too young. I wear fairly similar stuff, and I'm 14 years older than you.

The boots look great with jeans/trousers, but less so with the dresses.

I agree with the others about colour - maybe a colourful scarf if you want to start gently. And you have great legs.

I hope all these positive comments make you start to feel good about your appearance - you really should, losing that weight is an achievement to be proud of, so go out there and enjoy your new figure.

hellhasnofurylikeahungrywoman · 12/05/2012 14:50

Wow, wow and wow.

You look bloody amazing and could do with wearing some brighter colours.

TheMightyMojito · 12/05/2012 14:51

I think you look lovely; outfits 8, 20 and 22 in particular are stunning. The red shoes work well as an 'accent colour'.

NewAndHopefullyImproved · 12/05/2012 14:51

Thanks Grin

Are the dresses too short?

trixymalixy · 12/05/2012 14:55

You look fantastic!! Well done you. I particularly like the red shoes.

I agree with everything everyone has said about a bit more colour and not wearing the ankle boots without tights. Why not try a couple of more colourful scarves?

NoWayNoHow · 12/05/2012 14:55

Firstly, you look absolutely amazing. Well done on your fabulous loss!

Secondly, I think that almost all of the outfits work, and NONE of them look too young for you - I've get very similar things and I'm 34 (or maybe we're just both deluded !! Grin )

The only look I don't really like are the brown or grey boots when you have bare legs. Just looks too much of a contract. When you've got tights of jeans on, it looks better.

NoWayNoHow · 12/05/2012 14:56

Could I have had any more typos??! Sorry...

hellhasnofurylikeahungrywoman · 12/05/2012 14:56

Good lord woman no. I don't think your head has quite adjusted to your new size. I remember going through the same thing when I lost some weight a while ago.

NoWayNoHow · 12/05/2012 14:56

Oh, and your legs are nowhere NEAR too fat - you've got loverly pins!

HappyJustToBe · 12/05/2012 14:56

Well done, you look amazing.

I think the dresses really suit you and agree with pp that the flats show off your legs better than the boots (though they certainly don't look awful by any stretch of the imagination).

I personally think the blue looks nicer than the black as it is softer.

Enjoy experimenting!

pinktransit · 12/05/2012 14:59

No to all questions - you look great :)
I'm in my 40s and would wear most of those outfits. Not the dress with bare legs though, as mine don't look good bare.

TiaMariaandDietCoke · 12/05/2012 14:59

You look great in all the outfits. I agree with everyone that a bit more colour would be even better though. Bright killer heels with the jeans (red maybe) and bright scarf or necklace (and bag when going out) would turn the outfit from lovely to wow! likewise, with the dresses, maybe a bit of colour in the cardi/shrug? You say you need to work up to colour, which is fair enough - maybe start off with just bright jewellery maybe?

Chewbecca · 12/05/2012 15:01

I know everyone has said this already but you really should be chuffed to bits with these pics, you look fab and I love your clothes choices.

The boots look good with the dresses IMO but i am also not keen when the legs are bare. The dress length is good too.

Well done again, I am feeling quite inspired :o

hellhasnofurylikeahungrywoman · 12/05/2012 15:02

I'm 48 and would wear that length of dress with tights or leggings, I wear quite a few just-above-the-knee length things so if you think you might be too old for them it makers me positively over the hill Wink

garlicbutty · 12/05/2012 15:03

You look brilliant! I really like the spotty dress with cardi and boots, but I see I'm in the minority.

Try some bright colours and slightly more fitted styles. You might surprise yourself!

NewAndHopefullyImproved · 12/05/2012 15:03

I could do bright jewellery I think, I don't have any but I could have a look for some.

I run about after two toddlers so I need practical shoes and I never really learnt to walk in high heels Blush

In terms of shoes that you can wear with dresses that aren't boots or flats, have you thought about something like these or these for closed shoe options, or these and these for summer?
