Small boobs...

AIBU to think that I could find a bra that is uplifting, but not wodged full of foam, which will be flattering on those of us who are not overendowed on the boobicular area?
At the moment it either looks like I'm completely flat chested, or have two bean bags shoved down there.

I am struggling to find a bra that's pretty and supportive. Any recommendations?

Yes, Christina Hendricks is apparently 38DDD. Right.

StatisticallyChallenged · 05/11/2012 15:24

Aye, sure. Look, a flying pig. Whilst she undoubtedly wears some serious corsetry she has a pretty small waist . If I was to guess, I'd probably say no more than a 32, possibly less- but at least an h cup.

DonaAna · 05/11/2012 15:32

I'm not in the UK atm and I was shocked how limited the size range in bras was in my local department store.

My breasts are small---average, but my size (30D) was really difficult to find - very few D cups available, but there were a lot of bras with larger band widths and smaller cups (ABC)!!! Clearly forcing people to buy really ill-fitting bras. I could overhear a lot of conversations from the fitting rooms - all others looked bigger than me and all of them were telling the salesladies that what they were trying on did not quite fit and they were bulging over (and the salesladies tried to ignore that and say that an armpit bulge is normal).

I mentioned to the saleslady that they are not buying enough larger cup sizes - and she just sighed.

My mother is an E-cup when properly fitted, but she has been wearing a C-cup (and suffering) for a long time.

The new bras feel amazing. Although my breasts are nothing very special, having them super-defined is a huge boost to my confidence. Really feels like a boob job, without any nasty side effects.

Ime there was a terrible selection in the states too. Brastop quite often does free worldwide delivery. I think asos do too and they sometimes stock decent things.

TeWiDoesTheHulaInHawaii · 05/11/2012 16:02

Yes, I thought that too - not so much how many small cup sizes there are, but how many small combined with large backs - now I think about it as each size being 1" difference it just doesn't make sense that there are so many!

And so few back sizes below a 30 anywhere.

Bizkit · 05/11/2012 16:18

I have tiny boobs and since pregnancy they are not as full either so bras are a nightmare for me. I have to have some padding at least, have found the m&s multiway bras ok, but still not brilliant, I can't wear low cut tops as if I bend over you might see too much as my boobs don't completely fill the cup, if I wear an A cup this isn't so bad but it's uncomfortable to wear I usually wear a b cup but the bra is constantly rising up and then my boobs just look odd as its mainly padding riding up anyway. I'll have another measure Sad

HazleNutt · 05/11/2012 16:20

Bizkit, if your bra is riding up, the band is probably too big.

StatisticallyChallenged · 05/11/2012 16:43

Bizkit I would hazard a guess the back is quite a bit too big. Post your measurements and we'll help :-)

DonaAna · 05/11/2012 16:51

Bizkit you really need to let these helpful ladies here sort you out - their simple two measurements resulted in the best-fitting bra I've ever had (+ boosted self-esteem!). No riding up, real support, no pinching, and superb curves.

Bizkit · 05/11/2012 17:03

Ok 28inches under bust, 33 over bust (no bra) and 34 (just) over bust if I bend down, m&s is saying 32b, another one saying 32a, I've always worn a 34b sometimes 34a....help please Grin

StatisticallyChallenged · 05/11/2012 17:04

No wonder you are uncomfortable...28dd or 28e

TeWiDoesTheHulaInHawaii · 05/11/2012 17:07

We are similar measurements Biz - now wearing a 28e! I'm so comfy it'd ridiculous!

Bizkit · 05/11/2012 17:58

But...but...but how can it be so different? I think I may have been measuring my under bust as 29 previously, this is how I got 34 as you have to add five inches. So what your saying is the 28 inch measurement stays as 28
I would assume like most others aswell that a double d is huge!
I'm itching to go to the shops and have a look now

SorrelForbes · 05/11/2012 18:07

SC speaks the truth! A DD in a 28 back is much smaller than a DD in, say, a 34 back.

StatisticallyChallenged · 05/11/2012 18:11

Online calculators are all nonsense. Honestly. M and s for example reckon I an a 36f. I am a 30h. They use a hideously outdated method.

HazleNutt · 05/11/2012 18:12

Yes, NO ADDING. not 4 inches, not 5, nothing. And 28DD is actually exactly the same size cup as 34B - that doesn't sound huge, does it?

Bizkit · 05/11/2012 18:32

Wow, I'm truly stunned. So where is best to look, I've checked m&s who have one bra in this size (not that I'd buy from there anyway) and bhs have none. I don't have any other stores locally I can think of for bra buying, but I hope these sizes are not going to be difficult to find. I would need a lightly padded one, so bit weary of buying online as I usually have to have a feel of them before buying, to check the padding, can't be too much or too little, though maybe the padding won't look quite so silly if the bra fits well Hmm

Chandon · 05/11/2012 18:36

I think Calvin Klein bras work really well, slight foam cup, not too much padding, and very soft to wear. Often on sale, eg at TK Maxx

ReallyLongWorm · 05/11/2012 18:40

I Have worn 34a forever, I just measured and my back size is 30 and over bust is 32-33. I am small chested but can see now I am not a 34 inch back! What size should I start with?
Thanks

HazleNutt · 05/11/2012 18:43

30B or 30C, Really.

Bizkit, 28 back is not that easy to find. Do you have Bravissimo around? If not, then you'll find best selection online, Bravissimo, Figleaves or here:
brastop.com/SearchPage.aspx?type=1&size=28DD&brand=&colour=&sectionid=&text=

SorrelForbes · 05/11/2012 18:44

RLW I'd try a 30B and a 30C.

SorrelForbes · 05/11/2012 18:46

Some of the Calvin Klein bras look vern nice but it appears that they start at a 32 back. No good for many of us.

SorrelForbes · 05/11/2012 18:47

Oooh and one of my favourites Ewa Michalak stocks 28 backs.

MirandaWest · 05/11/2012 18:51

It took me a while to go from 34a to 32b to 30c (am size 8 at the top). Wish my mum who is smaller than me would realise she almost definitely isn't a 32aa. Probably a 28b or something like that I think.

SorrelForbes · 05/11/2012 18:53

I'm taking my mother shopping before Christmas to either Bravissimo or R&B. I will sort out her chest if it kills me!
