Small boobs...

AIBU to think that I could find a bra that is uplifting, but not wodged full of foam, which will be flattering on those of us who are not overendowed on the boobicular area?
At the moment it either looks like I'm completely flat chested, or have two bean bags shoved down there.

I am struggling to find a bra that's pretty and supportive. Any recommendations?

If anyone is interested I have a voucher for Figleaves that I'm not going to use so would be happy to sell on? It lasts until January, it's for £56 I think.

Have just tried a 32b (couldn't find a 30b) and no gaping cup like my 34a and 34aa bras all have. Amazing.

Jonquille try also E, FF, G - it's not an exact science and also different brands can be sized a bit differently.

blueberry. If the cup in 32B is ok then in a 30 band you'll probably need a C!

Sorrel Forbes- you are a bra genius. I am in the midst of bra shopping but have already now purchased a 30DD that fits beautifully- no more pain, and no bulges at the armpi/ four noob effect t- all a bit different from the 34 A I have been wearing for years! Thank you so much for all the fab advice on this thread, I feel and look a lot better ( though my credit card has a large dent in it!)

Have to agree my 32a bras came today and fit perfectly. To think I spent so many years thinking I was 34aa.

I've just found this amazing thread since posting a message about my measurements earlier. I have a feeling it will change my life, or at least my bra buying anyway.
They are 29 under ( but 28 if I pull the tape measure quite tight) how tight should it be?
34 over, but 34.5 if it is a bit looser.
A kind person has responded that I should try a 30E which is quite shocking (have lived a life of 36a, 34b only recently thought of a 32c which chops them in half) what would you lovely experts advise?
desperate to go shopping now but can't get anywhere before Saturday and will need to have dc's in tow even then.

You should be somewhere around 28DD or E

Report
HazleNutt · 05/02/2013 16:01

Ah I see you mention that 32C is too small in cups - as that's the same cup size as 28DD, you would need to go up, so start with E and F.

I've just found this thread after reading the new one.
I'e been wearing badly fitting 34C's but have just measured and its 32.5 bottom and 38 stood up or 39 bending down.
That would make me a 32F/G?

Copying from the other bra thread, apologies.

Sorrel are you there?

So have measured with a bit of string and DH's mansized measuring metal stick thing. Grin

I am a 31 underneath and if I stand bent over at 90degrees I am a 34 round the fattest part of my boob. But I have absolutely no plumpness above the nipple area.

So what size am I?

SorrelForbes · 06/02/2013 21:15

blibblibs Yes, try a 32F, 32FF (but you may need a G!)

JamInMyWellies I'm here! I like your measuring style, it shows committment Grin.

OK, try a 30D and a 30C. You may possibly need a 32 back but I doubt it. Do the trying on back to front thing first to check that you are either a 30 or a 32 and then work out the cup. If you find a 30 unbearably tight (when done up back to front) then try a 32 in a B and a C. I bet you're a 30D

Hi Sorrel, just to update I tried on all the sizes you mentioned, about 20 bras n styles, I am a 34E, the d's, dd's and 32e were all too small or I had back fat etc etc.. So I realised I obviously just needed to go up one and bingo, it was perfect.
Think the sales assistant was glad when I was finished ;)
I also got the balcony style as I'm bottom heavy and they now look great, so pert, lol, so thanks again for that advice too!

I got one dark one, a white one and a pretty dusky pink one so I am kitted out for under all colour clothes Grin

Sorry to ask another question but my daughter wants to know what size bra she should be wearing, shes a 'tween' and in that awkward phase of having boobs and none of her friends have!
Shes really slim, her underneath measurement was 22 cms and her over measurement was 25 cms..

Do bras exist in that size? Or is she stuck with her New Look / Primark crappy ones.. (Her choice, not mine btw..) Grin

Report
StatisticallyChallenged · 07/04/2013 17:11

I'm going to guess you mean inches!

Unfortunately nowhere (literally) makes bras in that size. If it existed, she'd be a 22C. The New Look/Primark ones must be quite a lot too big for her I would guess. The smallest readily available bra on the market is a 28AA which is really designed for someone measuring 28 both under and over but I suspect the cups would be entirely the wrong shape for her.

If you can sew (even a little) I would suggest ordering some 28A and AAs and trying to find one where the cup looks like a decent-ish fit, and then adjusting the back to make it smaller. There are a few ways you can do it and as you will be adjusting it by a fair amount I would probably do more than one alteration.

The easiest one is to take the fastening off the back, cut a small amount of fabric off and then reattach the clips. From what I have read you can get away with taking 1-2 back sizes off a bra this was but you don't want to do any more or the straps will be in the wrong place.

Another option (which I suspect would be needed here too) is to take in the central gore which brings the cups closer together - chances are that any cups on a 28 back would be too far apart for her. A combination of both could probably get you a reasonably close back size.

Realistically none of this is going to give her an amazingly well fitting bra - it's going to be a case of making do until she grows a little more. It's probably worth figuring out how to do the alterations though as if she is only 22" just now you're going to be taking in bras for a while yet.
