Fat Frock Needed!

Ok so its a wedding thread. But for the sake of everyones sanity Im more than happy to pretend its a party!

Im size 18/20. Pretty much definitely a 20 to squeeze in the chest. Huge boobs, huge tummy, quite good legs. Im looking for a NICE dress that is flattering but doesn't make me look 50 (not that theres anything wrong with being 50 but I am 24). Ive considered the 50s route but feel like I should have bright red hair and pin up girl tattoos! Dark hair and blue eyes. Can't wear high necks. Please can anyone help? Ive refrained from posting as long as possible but ive got three weeks, the diet hasn't worked out as I thought and I am panicking!!! Budget is absolute max £150.

Thanks, and sorry!

Have you looked at Pepperberry? Some are very flattering and will accommodate your chest too. This dress is lovely on. If you look at Pepperberry FB photos you will see a size 18 lady in it looking fab.

MrsLettuce · 11/05/2012 13:22

fab print, not actually high necked IMO because of the mesh, with red sandals and still 40 quid over for a bag. this would be perfect but takes you to +/- 175. Or was 150 just for the dress?

looks like a sack in the beige but very good in the coral

styled wrong but very nice. Colourful accesorising needed.

MrsLettuce · 11/05/2012 13:36

stripes, with red shoes. Dare you pop on the spanx and wear this? It could look amazing.

red or green both great, utter bargain.

GlaikitFizzog · 11/05/2012 13:48

I'm a 20 same as you and have this dress from Moonsoon for a wedding next weekend. I actually only needed an 18 in it and I have bought a wider belt and a petticoat (ebay £16) and IMHO I think I look fab. Teamed with a pair of killer heels and a hair do I've been practising I think I'm pulling off the 50s look without red hair or tattoos!

I also have this from dorothy perkins for work and it's really nice on. The back is navy and comes round the side on to the front a bit giving you the illusion of a slimmer sillouette(sp). Infact there are a lot of dresses in this style on their website and quite cheap considering your budget!

MrsLettuce · 11/05/2012 13:53

That DP dress is excellent!

JennyPiccolo · 11/05/2012 13:54

this is gorgeous.

MrsLettuce · 11/05/2012 13:58

It really is, no 18 or 20 though, which is a shame. SO nice.

MrsLettuce · 11/05/2012 14:03

this is kind of similar

slug · 11/05/2012 14:48

Mrs Lettuce. I have just bought that green dress.

MrsLettuce · 11/05/2012 14:56

The Izabel one? It's very nice! Enjoy Grin

Byeckerslike · 11/05/2012 14:59

Dolly, that pepperberry dress is gorgeous!

GreenEggsAndNichts · 11/05/2012 16:42

Thanks for the Pepperberry link... I've just ordered two of the dresses they have in the Sale section Blush

KurriKurri · 11/05/2012 16:57

Ooh MrsLettuce - you are good Grin - I love that green Izabel dress and the Rainbow fabric ASOS one.

Dollydowser · 11/05/2012 18:36

Good stuff! I like the Izabel dress too. Lets hope the OP likes some of our suggestions Smile

KurriKurri · 11/05/2012 18:49

The Pepperberry site is great Dolly, - have spotted another green dress I love on there and a really nice top, - I like the fact that they tell you what suits your shape.

Dollydowser · 11/05/2012 23:14

I like the FB photos of their customers in their clothes, gives a much better idea of what they will look like on.

SuperDuperJezebel · 12/05/2012 10:53

cough MrsLettuce, thanks (not!) for linking to that Izabel dress, I have now just bought it and two others from HOF!

MrsLettuce · 12/05/2012 11:13

Sorry Wink

Hope there's something the OP likes too. We may never know...

Jenda · 13/05/2012 01:50

Hello! Sorry for huge delay, was unexpectedly dragged away. Thank you SO much all of you for your suggestions! Love the Izabel dress- especially the price!- and some of the asos ones. ALso love the green Wallis maxi but its sold out in my size.

I think im going to order a Pepperberry dress to see what the fit is like. Some comments have been that they come up quite small but I think its worth finding out. Thank you for the advice about the fb page, really good to see 'real people' wearing them.

Love the striped one too Mrs Lettuce- but not brave enough! And Glaikit thanks for the advice about the 50s dresses, think I spoke to you on another thread, sounds lovely!

Thank you so much again- I am going to order a few of Mrs Lettuce's suggestions and choose from them. Really really appreciate you taking the time to look, I had been going insane with dress overdose!!

Could I have some opinions on this please? dorothy perkins

OP posts:
MrsLettuce · 14/05/2012 22:50

Mmm, I see what you're getting at IMHO it's not likely to be the best shape for you. It'd ok.this is similar but in a shape that's flatter you more , I think.

MrsLettuce · 14/05/2012 23:10

THis is a better price, but monocrome. With a <a class="break-all" href="//hwww.onceuponabelt.com/ladies-belts/plus-size-womens-belts.html#ouab_colour=red&p=1&gan_data=true" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">red belt, red heels (maybe too high, but patent would be good) and a black bag.

Again, only in an 18 but your frontage shouldn't be a problem at all with this one.

what y' reckon?

Jenda · 14/05/2012 23:21

Oooh I'd seen that and dismissed it due to the black and white ness but I hadn't thought of putting red with it, that could really work. In fact i think im going to buy it anyway regardless of whether I wear it to the weddng! Agree with you about the DP not being the right shape but I think I'd feel a bit old in the kaliko one although its very pretty. Where I've put on so much weight I like to wear black, black and black which is why Im in such a panic over this. Thank you so much. You are very clever, you must have such fun getting dressed every day!

It'd be a great outfit - young, fresh, flattering. You would, in fact, look fabulous!

But, that said I know how it is to want to wear dark colours and if that's what your comfortable in, well, so be it! No point feeling 'wrong' all day even if everyone else thinks you look amazing.

How about this , bear with me - it needs yoofing up.. .

with these in the yellow and this

Less scary? Definitely still fresh, young and flattering.
