hi, am not normally one to follow trends or branded labels but have been looking for a hooded jacket lately due to all the rain and have come across a really nice black one. but it is superdry, would it look too try hard for a 30-something mum of 2? dont know if its mainly worn by teenagers? i really love the jacket though, not tech savvy enough to do links but its black with pink lining and a hood. have also heard it comes up small so will get bigger size.

has anyone got one? what do you think?

All the men who work in the IT department with my brother wear it and they are all in their 30s/40s. I think the jacket you are talking about is the same one my dd(15) has - does it have loads of zips at the front? It is v. small btw.

smearedinfood · 10/05/2012 21:32

I am 34 and own a bench jacket and I also have a hoody. As long as your comfy!

madmomma · 10/05/2012 21:33

40 IMO

yummytummy · 10/05/2012 21:34

yeah, loads of zips. aahh i thought it looked small. hmmm is it def a younger girl thing then or older-ish man thing?

I think its fine for mid thirties, I know the jacket you mean, it is very nice.

ihatethecold · 10/05/2012 21:36

Do what makes you happy Grin

ClaimedByMe · 10/05/2012 21:38

I'm 30 and a mum of 2 and wear superdry but I am not fashion conscious at all!

Taffeta · 10/05/2012 21:40

My boss who is 50 wears Superdry

yummytummy · 10/05/2012 21:40

oooh good sounds encouraging so far. i think i might just have to get it.

What I was trying to say (not very well!) is that a range of ages wear it so don't think it is a teenage brand or an older brand but for all ages.

MDM · 10/05/2012 21:41

Do you have a pox?

MDM · 10/05/2012 21:41

"pic" rather

TheHouseOnTheCorner · 10/05/2012 21:46

MDM Grin How Shakesperean of you!

OP....the thing about Superdry is that it SEEMS like a yoot brand...but the cut and the fit are all screaming "fLATTERING CLOTHING FOR THE OVER 30'S!!!"

Wear what you like...they have nice shapes those jackets and when you are 67 you will look back and think "Damn! I was gorgeous in my 30s WHY didn't I wear what I wanted to!

121 · 10/05/2012 21:46

Nah, clothes are all about if you actually like them! If you wear something a bit frumpy then you might feel like it's more 'age-appropriate' but you won't feel so confident wearing it. If you feel more confident then you can pull almost anything off! Ergo.... DO IT! (you'll also be much warmer than the rest of us!)

bibbitybobbitybunny · 10/05/2012 21:57

Ha! Was going to say 16.

ForwardOcho · 10/05/2012 22:03

My dh IS 67 and he has a Superdry leather and he looks feckin great in it. Honest. He is v cool. (and much older than me)

TheBolter · 10/05/2012 22:05

Grin MDM

I'm 36 and wear it, although I'd say I'm quite a 'young' 36

yummytummy · 10/05/2012 22:09

well. 67 thats great (ignores bibbity with her 16...)

i guess if the age thing is ok, next thing to worry about is sizing. am a 12 but have heard need to get 2 sizes up?

OP posts:
AgathaFusty · 10/05/2012 22:23

2 sizes up - how fucking depressing is that??????????

TheBolter · 10/05/2012 22:31

Yeah I'm a size 8 and could hardly squeeze into their skinny black trousers. Angry

usualsuspect · 10/05/2012 22:32

18

DancingwithDragons · 10/05/2012 22:40

is it this one?

or this one

I had a friend order from Superdry at christmas, and still to this date she has not recieved the Jacket, although she has finally got a refund now. But she recieved very bad customer service and had to keep chasing them. Although it didn't put her off buying from there again.

Theres an outlet store in Biscester village (i may have spelt that wrong) if you want to go into a shop.

carrielou2007 · 10/05/2012 22:43

I bought one as have my fabbi s and b merrel wakefields but wanted a short lightweight jacket for spring/autum. I got a gorgous one in purple with pink lining. They are small, I tried on my 14 year old neices one first to check and got a M and I am a 12. The hood is rubbish though, only really covers half my head so either I have a very broad head or the hoods are just shite Grin

I am 38 22 btw Grin

lunamoon · 10/05/2012 23:48

You are not too old but they are very small fitting, with quite long arms though!

CointreauVersial · 11/05/2012 00:10

Wear what you want and what suits you - who cares about the label? My mate has a blue and white Superdry fitted blazer-type jacket which is lovely - and she's 46.

Actually, I think Superdry has peaked as a cool "yoof" brand - when your overweight, bald dad is wearing a Superdry teeshirt you need to start looking elsewhere for your cool stuff!
