I have bought this dress for a wedding in France in July, I love it but I really want a wrap to cover my pasty arms but what colour to go with?

I am also trying to find a big statement necklace as the top is quite low cut leaving a lot of pasty white chest on display! I cant seem to find anything inspiring.

What colour shoes and bag do you think? I thought it would be quite hard to match the colour of the top as it is halfway between turquoise and teal. There is purple and a gold colour in the skirt, should I run with one of those or stick with tan coloured?

what's your budget for necklace?

annalilybet · 10/05/2012 10:59

That is a beautiful dress!

There is a lot going on with the bottom half - the peacock detailing is beautiful but I would avoid going to 'busy' on your top half as it'll detract. Personally I would go with a light, white/cream wrap or pashmina on the top to allow that beautiful turquoise colour to pop. If you can a clutch that matches the top would be ideal - I'd try Accessorise, Monsoon, HoF or Debenhams as they tend to have loads at this time of year. There's a bag on the Mango site that would match - it is a shoulder bag but you could t

Sorry! I pressed send accidentally then! As I was saying...

You could tuck the strap of the bag on the Mango site in and use it as a clutch, I've done it many times and it works fine.

I wouldn't wear a statement necklace on the top half but would for something quite delicate - Topshop, Primark and (again) Accessorise may well have something with feathers or a feather design on that would be a very nice finishing touch.

And last but not least - fake tan! If you're worried about a lot of flesh being on show I can recommend both Fake Bake and St Tropez to give you a little glow with looking like someone from TOWIE! Better yet, get a spray tan 1 or 2 days before hand.

Good luck!

Thanks ladies. No real budget but don't want to break the bank preferably under £50 for necklace.

I hear what you say about necklace Anna, will try it with some I already have.

Oh and I won't be short of places for fake tans I live in TOWIE land! I have never had one though and am a bit nervous about being tangoed. Grin

Lovey dress.

This bag would be perfect, good rich colour and no fuss. For shoes maybe these or these, no idea how much height you need to (if any) to keep it off the floor. Those exactly the 'correct' colour options for with the bag anyway, IMHO. prefer the deeper of the two shades.

Best off without anything over it TBH, a wee black bolero - were it to fit and fall just right - might be nice. Maybe this , or this? Nothing too solid in any case. For a shawl, a pale cream could work, how about this or this one with gold beading? (although I haven't tracked down the gold in the dress yet). So yeah, a bolero probably is better than a shawl.

You can't really wear a statement necklace it though, or any necklace really. Dangley earrings would be plenty, maybe even pushing it a bit.

MissFoodie · 11/05/2012 10:04

yes, maybe some nice earrings and a ring/bracelet at most, try Stella & Dot for earrings, you can order online, I have loads of samples so let me know if any questions
