Just bought 2 pairs on a whim, is there an upper age limit to wear them? Don't want to get laughed at!!

Also what shoes to wear with them? I was thinking ballet pumps.

I was wondering this exact question, also if you are bigger is it a definate no no?

HexagonalQueenOfTheSummer · 28/04/2012 20:00

I'm thinking of getting some (I'm 35); I've seen some nice mint green ones in Primark. Yes, I'd probably wear ballet pumps with them, or just flat sandals once we get some warmer weather (Ha ha)

cathkidstonbag · 28/04/2012 20:02

I'm 37. Bought bright green and lilac ones from primark.

I'm 35, I have worn my grenadine skInnies to death. I am wearing them with ballet flats today, but also wear them with long riding boots and I'm thinking of getting some ankle boots.

pantaloons · 28/04/2012 20:05

I have some burgundy high waisted ones from New Look. I've tried all the brights on, but find the darker shades easier to look at wear on my chunky thighs!

Alargeglassofred · 28/04/2012 20:07

Wear them all the time... Nudging 40!!! Just make sure you avoid the usual no nos!! ie thong showing, hoof(!) , or muffin top!!

cathkidstonbag · 28/04/2012 20:12

And I'm thinking plain everything else, black tshirt and black ballet shoes?

I've got the burgundy new look ones and wear them with Fly London boots, they look great. I'm 32 and size 14.

mrsebojones · 28/04/2012 20:27

35 And bought a pair in jade green from next. Wear them with white t-shirt or navy breton. Wear with ballet flats or tucked into ankle boots.

UnrequitedSkink · 28/04/2012 20:30

36 and have them in jade, dusky pink and cropped ones in pale yellow!

OracleInaCoracle · 28/04/2012 20:30

I wear my dark green ones with ankle pixie boots, will swap to pumps in the better weather though, I'm 34.

MariahScary · 28/04/2012 20:30

Hmmmm. I bought some coral ones in March and havent been brave enough to wear them yet!

Alargeglassofred · 28/04/2012 20:36

Don't be too co ordinated. Black shoes and top too heavy IYSWIM! sandals once weather good.

ShotgunNotDoingThePans · 28/04/2012 20:37

I'm 48 49 next month and I'd be wearing them if it weren't for the fact my 14 yo DD wears them and I couldn't stand up to comparison.
They're exactly the thing that's been missing from my wardrobe for years but have always been poo-pood as kids' tv presenters' wear - until now. I'm gutted that now that their moment has finally come I don't feel able to wear them.
I think you should all get out there and enjoy them while you can, before your daughters get first dibs on all the best trends!

ShotgunNotDoingThePans · 28/04/2012 20:39

I agree black too heavy with pastels. Keep it light and fresh.

OracleInaCoracle · 28/04/2012 20:56

I'd go tan flats with pastels and another pastel, or neutral on top.

dingdong3 · 28/04/2012 21:00

I've been trying lots of different ways of styling them this week. White top with fitted denim shirt over was nice. This grey top from M&S was good also with bright blue ones. Also this one was lovely despite the dodgy pose & the fact that it's Per Una but a bit shorter in length so looked better with a longer vest under.

TheFallenMadonna · 28/04/2012 21:02

Well, I'm older and bigger than the rest if you (except shotgun who doesn't wear them...), and I am wearing a pair of plum Oasis cherry jeans. I have a green pair too and I love them.

dingdong3 · 28/04/2012 21:02

Sorry....forgot to say about footwear. Good with ankle boots and ballet pumps. Tried them with nude wedges and they looked quite good too. Not keen on them with long boots - always feel they look like jodhpurs. Prob influenced by DH asking me if my pony was tied up outside when I last sported that look.. :)

pantaloons · 29/04/2012 11:59

I wear my burgundy ones with balck flats and a loose fit wide breton striped top.

ujjayi · 29/04/2012 15:08

I am 41 and wear them. Have been wearing coral and candy pink for the last two summers and fully intend to bring them out again this year. I also have purple and red - although the red ones need replacing so if anyone has seen any good ones please recommend.

I wear with strappy flat leather sandals, Converse, tan ankle boots and hopefully something akin to Swedish Hasbeens this summer.

ujjayi · 29/04/2012 15:09

Forgot to say, I keep the top half simple but do wear a lot of scarves too.

dingdong3 · 29/04/2012 20:46

ujjayi I tried on these in French Connection last week. Still mulling over them. V stretchy, with zip at the ankles. Flat front waist with a side zip. Would defo need a longer top as high risk of camel toe but the colour & quality was lovely.

ujjayi · 29/04/2012 23:05

dingdong3 lovely colour but I am long in the body so those would create huge camel toe issues for me.
