WOW. and thank you! It's amazing - made a really really huge difference and I've only used it five or six times. So grateful to you!

Just a thought - how can Amazon sell trentinoin if it's only available on prescription in the UK? Dont they have drugs policies that cover this?

faustina · 30/04/2012 20:21

I don't think it's actually Amazon itself... Just the marketplace little shops or whatever they're called

itdidntworkout · 30/04/2012 21:21

Also no IPL or microdermabrasion as your skin is thinner.

Might actually buy a tube of the low dose one from Amazon.

Can someone confirm instructions for me.

Use a night on every third night (in the beginning)
Wash face and leave to dry for 30 mins
Apply a pea size to affected areas (all over)
Do not apply a moisturiser on top

Did I miss anything?

PerryCombover · 30/04/2012 22:01

GGirl

I use the trentoin one I linked to on amazon .1%
I have been using 10% aha alongside it to help with the skin flaking

I had been using the aha for a while before I started with the retin a
It definitely has helped the scarring

QuinnFabray · 30/04/2012 22:36

faustina · 30/04/2012 22:36

I swear all this work on reading about losing wrinkles is ageing me.

MrsGuyOfGisbourne · 01/05/2012 10:11

Pinot you said what was thinking. However, am eternally grateful to the lovely poineers on this thread - my ugly great blackhead that has been bugging me has now completely gone thanks to the GA sizzling

Pinot · 01/05/2012 10:13

ooh yeah I the GA sizzle. The scary "I cant get the top off the neutraliser" also gives my heartbeat a good workout too Hmm :o

itdidntworkout · 01/05/2012 10:40

Quinn - great article, thanks. I can apply moisturiser, just have to wait an hour. I use pure coconut oil (solid at room temp) and it's lovely and nourishing.

Faustina - thanks for the sunscreen tip. I se Roche Posay, tinted spf50.

Some can get tretinoin cheap abroad, found this online and it's only £8 for the cream and £3.50 for the gel.

Anyone purchased from here before? Site doesn't look arf as dodgy as the other one Wink

ggirl · 01/05/2012 12:20

blimey that site may look less dodgy but geoff sells all major prescription only drugs !!
stock up on steroids or beta blockers anyone?!

SimoneD · 01/05/2012 12:53

Please do remember that medications are prescription only for a reason.

My friend was prescribed this for her acne by a Dermatologist. She had to sign a declaration before starting treatment that she would terminate any pregnancy that occurred during treatment as it causes severe foetal deformities. You also have to stay out of the sun for months even after treatment has finished and should be wearing total block.

Please do read up extensively about the medication and potencies etc before you buy online.

AmberLeaf · 01/05/2012 13:07

SimoneD I think thats Roaccutane not Retinol.

Retinoids

These powerful substances, found in some antiaging moisturizers, are lauded for helping reduce wrinkles and improve skin tone. Retinoids are a type of vitamin A that speeds up cell division (quickening your skin's renewal) and prevent skin collagen from breaking down.

But retinoids are one of the skin-care ingredients that experts, including Baumann, recommend that expectant moms stay away from. Some studies have shown that high doses of vitamin A during pregnancy can be harmful to an unborn child. And oral retinoids, such as isotretinoin (Accutane, an acne treatment), are known to cause birth defects.

If you've been using a skin cream that contains a retinoid, don't panic. Retinoids have not been shown to cause problems in their topical form in pregnant women.

"There is no data to show these retinoids ingredients are harmful when used on the skin ? doctors are just being extra cautious," explains Baumann.

On the label:
Differin (adapelene)
Retin-A, Renova (tretinoin)
Retinoic acid
Retinol
Retinyl linoleate
Retinyl palmitate
Tazorac and avage (Tazarotene)

Bottom line:
Best to avoid

itdidntworkout · 01/05/2012 15:22

Also available from:

Canada

Essex gel only

Manchester gel only and you have to buy a minimum of three months' worth, but still only a total of £50! You request a private prescription. Might go for this option.

What's the difference between the cream and gel, just texture?

Reading online, you need a prescription for Ireland, but not for Spain.

itdidntworkout · 01/05/2012 15:24

The sales from Manchester are for 3 x 60g tubes, so they're huge and not the usual 20g that I've seen advertised!

ggirl · 01/05/2012 17:35

I think I have read somewhere that the gel is more potent and used more for acne..but I could be talking outta my arse

ggirl · 01/05/2012 17:37

arf -with the canadian one you get 4 free viagra pills when you order the cream.....err no thanks

lumbago · 01/05/2012 17:38

What's with you lot and skin? Are you all pock marked ?

itdidntworkout · 01/05/2012 18:20

Not pot marked but did lots of sunbathing in teens and just have sun damage that I'd like to fade.

Also noticed that as I get older, if I get a spot, once gone, it leaves a brown mark and take years to fade away. Still have a mark on my chin from three years ago.

itdidntworkout · 01/05/2012 18:28

Cream vs gel

Apparently the gel reduces inflammation. Perhaps it has a cooling effect.

Mombojombo · 01/05/2012 18:36

All this talk of pregnancy & such, does anyone know if it's advisable if breastfeeding?

itdidntworkout · 01/05/2012 18:57

Should be avoided in breast feeding as it gets into the milk
