New thread for chatting. Oh and swapping S&B tips.

Having a manic day here - INSET day at school and I have 7 kids (inc my 3) over for lunch. While also trying to "work from home" and talk to removal people.

Stropps, I think DD must be taking lessons from yours - she hates both DH and I and is going to leave this houseGrin

All because she couldn't have her laptop back till she put all her clothes away from off the floor! And the funniest thing is, one of her friends has posted a pic of her corner of the dorm on school journey. Need I say more!

TheReturnOfStropperella · 18/06/2012 20:02

Oh my sympathies, BTM. We had a quiet w/e with no tantrums and then dd had a monster one at 8am this morning and rushed and locked herself in the bathroom. We, er, (ahem) now have no lock on the bathroom door as I (ahem) got a bit crabby and, er, opened it a bit forcefully. (oops)

motherinferior · 18/06/2012 20:03

My beloved 11 year old is away for five nights on a skool trip. I put this out there merely to make those afflicted with gurls of the same age Envy

Herbs, I feel your pain. DD1 started using the loo with little seat over one weekend, back in the day. DD2, not so much. I have vivid memories of the First Weekend of pants, during which she got massive stomach upset [grim]

bigTillyMint · 18/06/2012 20:05

Yes, well MI we had the week of peace, only to face the returm of a knackered, grumpy and rude teen!

motherinferior · 18/06/2012 20:10

Oh god, of course, yes....oh god and it is DD2's birthday next weekend too, what an opportunity for horrid behaviour

TheReturnOfStropperella · 18/06/2012 20:13

My mantra is currently "Could be worse!". I find it helps immensely that I have spent the last month working in school and keep hearing about all the ways in which it could be worse. Plenty of my lovely co-workers are afflicted with teenagers as well, so swopping stories has helped me a lot. However, I still need help with how to react when dd shouts "Why do you always think you are right?" I realise that shouting "Because I always bloody am" is prob not the way to go.

bigTillyMint · 18/06/2012 20:13

Oh dear!

Part of the problem may have been that although she missed gym on Friday night, she was there 10-3.30 Sat and then we did a 6 hour bike ride/lunch on Sunday(albeit with her BF). But then again, she would probably have been this horrible anywaySmile

bigTillyMint · 18/06/2012 20:14

Stropps, I told DD that she was being a right cow this afternoon. Well, she wasGrin

TheReturnOfStropperella · 18/06/2012 20:22

Grin BTM. I have an assortment of texts from dd apologising for "being such a cow". Sadly, despite the apology, the evil bovine behaviour was back the next day. (Off on a slight etymological tangent, but why do we use the term "cow" in this context? Cows are not generally known for being rude and obstreperous. Bulls, maybe, but not cows. Just sayin' :) )

bigTillyMint · 18/06/2012 20:25

Yes, I fear we would have the same result. If she sent a text apologising, of course!

Witch is probably betterGrin

Blackduck · 18/06/2012 20:31

Oh I am so looking forward to teenage angst (not)..... I was vile to my mum, I distinctly remember it...
Well bidding war went on, back and forth, (i think we had in the region of 7 offers today) reaching a crescendo at 5.30 (when dp said all bets were off). ... Crepeys, from crappy offers we have ended up 3k below asking... Collapses in exhausted heap - lets hope it comes off....

TheReturnOfStropperella · 18/06/2012 20:31

Oh gawd yes. Witch. Putting a hex on what should be a perfectly nice day out. etc. We have a rather pricey w/e away planned shortly in London (Tickets for a show, hotel stay, meals out etc) and I am worried it will all be thrown into disarray by some hormonally-induced hex or other. The w/e is instead of a proper holiday as we can't plan anything else because of dh's treatment schedule.

TheReturnOfStropperella · 18/06/2012 20:32

BD, sounds like you need a drink! Grin

Blackduck · 18/06/2012 20:37

Just done a bottle of bubbly...let's hope we weren't counting our chickens...

TheReturnOfStropperella · 18/06/2012 20:39

BD, 7 offers? I reckon you're allowed to reach for the bubbly. Grin

Woo Hoo BDSmile

bigTillyMint · 19/06/2012 20:14

Am I being unpatriotic to hope that Engerland lose tonight (in the hopes that the rest of my family will lose interest in the footy)?

TheReturnOfStropperella · 19/06/2012 21:58

No one bothers with football in this house. I think dh probably would if someone gave him some encouragement, but none of us do. Grin

Blackduck · 20/06/2012 07:54

I have found myself surprising interested in the football - is this a symptom of sleep deprivation? (bad insomnia here).....but am really waiting for the Tour...

bigTillyMint · 20/06/2012 08:03

I can't believe they won last night[snock]

Just picked up a voicemail from DD's maths teacher - complaining about her behaviour(too chatty in class) - DH was not impressed, but I managed to let DD know without causing another blow-up, and am hoping she can behave in her lesson today. I'm also hoping that DH gets to talk to the teacher, rather than me.....
