Which perfume best represents summer for you?

As a definite wintery fragrance wearer (I always plump for heady, oriental florals when buying perfumes), I am looking for inspiration for a new, summery fragrance. I am currently pregnant, so have also gone off a lot of my perfumes. However, it needs to be one that has great sillage- I hear that a lot of lighter fragrances wear off very quickly! Starter for ten- I quite like Chanel Chance. Summery enough?

I love Clarins Eau des Jardins.

Msarsebiscuit · 16/04/2012 15:55

I'm a bit of a fig fragrance fan so mine is Hermes Un Jardin en Mediterranee, which I alternate with Dior Eau Svelte, Annick Goutal Eau d'Hadrien and Diptyque Philosykos.

Dolce & Gabanna Light Blue..... Try it, it's gorgeous.

Catsmamma · 16/04/2012 17:39

I love Ô de Lancôme for summer, very fresh and lemony and it used to last on me.

..like a very grown up Lemon Drench from Boots if anyone is old enough to remember that! :o

PuffPants · 16/04/2012 18:16

Ooh I tested a fab one recently - Signorina by Salvatore Ferragamo, it was beautiful. Very summery and fresh. I had compliments all day.

winefairy · 16/04/2012 18:49

I was going to say Eau d'Hadrien, Msarse. Or Les Nuit d'Hadrien which I always take on holiday. Gorgeous.

And you've reminded me to try Diptyque Philosykos next time I'm in Space NK. Been on my wishlist forever.

lololizzy · 16/04/2012 19:10

you know when rain falls on hot pavements in summer (well, in UK! not necessarily always hot though!) and you get that combination of 'street smell' combined with nature? That's one of my favourite smells and Rain by Demeter is spot on. Steamy pavements?! does it for me!

FruitSaladIsNotPudding · 16/04/2012 19:13

Another vote got d&g light blue.

Msarsebiscuit · 16/04/2012 19:20

Winefairy, yes you must try Philosykos, I love it so much - I like fragrances that aren't too widely worn. I found a pretty good cheaper approximation of Philosykos which I keep at work, called Buddha's Fig.

Anything violet eg Penhaligons except mine had an old fashioned stopper and it got knocked and the entire lot spilt over bedroom floor Sad

snowmummy · 16/04/2012 19:23

Clinique Happy.

MrsBovary · 16/04/2012 19:37

Clarins Eau Des Jardins too.

TooEasilyTempted · 16/04/2012 19:41

Jo Malone Lime, Basil & Mandarin.

EnjoyResponsibly · 16/04/2012 19:47

I came on to say Chance too OP.

I wear Jo Malone Grapefruit which is also very summery.

aJumpedUpPantryBoy · 16/04/2012 19:52

Davidoff Cool Water Woman

LittlePandaBear · 16/04/2012 19:57

I like Marc Jacobs Daisy Eau so Fresh

zalana · 16/04/2012 20:10

The new L'Eau de Chloe is very gorgeous, a lovely light fragrance.

FoofyShmooffer · 16/04/2012 20:13

Boss Femme.

Light and not too flowery.

BikeRunSki · 16/04/2012 20:39

Happy.
I got married in it at the end of April 12 years ago.
My winter perfume is Aromatics. I am a Clinique girl.
Except for a bit of Origins Ginger at Christmas.

LaurieFairyCake · 16/04/2012 20:50

I too only really like winter fragrances - miller Harris tabac, elemis exotic, mitsouko, l'heure bleue, vol de nuit

But I can get on with Chanel chance, eau dynamisante, and Liz Earle no.1, jo Malone 154 for summer.

RoxyRobin · 16/04/2012 20:51

Don't know if any older mners remember the dreadful early seventies scent Meadowsong by Goya? DSis used to go about reeking of it. When I mow the lawn in summer and put the results on the compost I am instantly transported back forty years. It should have been called 'Eau de Rotting Haystacks'.

How unfortunate that this is the scent I most associate with summer!

fluffiphlox · 16/04/2012 20:53

Oh Roxy I remember Meadowsong! And Aqua Manda. I am very old.

HazleNutt · 16/04/2012 20:54

Estee Lauder Bronze Goddess, smells like suntan lotion

RoxyRobin · 16/04/2012 20:56

Oh no! Aqua Manda! That curse of the youth club dance! It enveloped you like an orange cloud as soon as you opened the door to the ladies.

BettyNoir · 16/04/2012 21:05

Miss Dior Cherie L'Eau is nice too.
