My hair looks like shit. What the hell am I going to do?

I had my hair cut short 2 weeks ago. I'd been feeling mumsy and frumpy and thought I'd be brave and have my long hair drastically restyled. It just looks so ugly though and I know I won't get used to it. I've taken to wearing baseball caps and bandanas Blush to hide all the clumpy layers at the top and I look foolish.

Hairdresser mentioned extensions but couldn't give me a price - she said somewhere between £400 and £700 Shock. She also said it wouldn't look good because the bonds would be visible.

I look mannish and ugly. I've been thinking of attaching strands of beads to my hair line just so I can scoop the lot back in a ponytail and hide the disaster underneath. I don't care if I look weird or quirky. I need outside the box suggestions here.

So the bit at the front is your real hair and the length is the wig? As long as the colours blend that should look good in real life, because it's the hairline that often looks fake in wigs IME. Have fun shopping!

The user name was christened for a thread about DD2's appalling sleeping, but yes, quite apt!

I Brambule, I think I love you for saying that.

Is my profile still visible btw?

Nope, gone Smile

DiddyKnockers · 05/04/2012 12:41

Yep, the bit at the front is real. It's from the band and back that is fake.

The quality of the wig is lovely. I'm going to get one of his ponytails when I've got enough length to get in a band.

Can I just say that your hair really isn't short enough to be in a good style.

Personally I'd bite the bullet and have a pixie done. There are loads of good ones on wip hairport flickr.Google it as I can't do links!

You have a really nice face that could carry short hair really well. You just need to go to a salon who know how to cut hair short without leaving it in a chunky mumsy style.

Then style it with hair putty so it has a messy look.

oh i missed the wiggy pics....glad you feel happier with it now though diddy! i would still go and get your real hair styled at a really really good salon - why not treat yourself to a trip to London - it might make you feel it was less of a disaster if its properly styled and it actually wasnt that short! there were some lovely short bobs with longer fringes linked that i reckon a decent hairdresser could whip up.

im Sad i missed the wiggy pics....

jifnotcif · 05/04/2012 15:22

Oh me too, missed the wig pics. I need those pics to get Perry out of my head. And Cap'n Diddy.

As I said before you have great skin and you could so wear a really good short cut without any problems.

And you lost 4 stone! You can do anything now! - without wishing to change the direction of the thread, how did you lose that much in such a short time? I could do with losing 2 stone :( - I'm still on the seafood and eat it diet.

DiddyKnockers · 05/04/2012 20:35

Jif, I'm chuffed about my weight loss. I've gone from 15 and a half to 11 and a half stone. Ideally I'd like to get down to 9 and a half but there is no urgency anymore so I'm taking it steady.

I lost the weight because I split from ExP and just stopped feeling like I needed to eat all the time. He's not a bad bloke at all and I didn't realise I'd been using food for comfort. When he first left I consciously reduced my portion sizes and when I noticed the weight coming off it fuelled me to keep going.

I used to hate it when people would say the best way to lose weight is to change your lifestyle because it is so non-specific and virtually impossible to implement. In the 10 years I've been trying to slim down it's the only thing that's worked though.

Thanks for that Diddy, seems like a simple one-step solution to losing weight - Lose Weight by Losing your Loser - there's book in there somewhere!

I have noticed that if I change a habit when there is a big change in my life usually means I stick to it, that's given me a good idea about where I can start. I love food and love cooking and baking, and associate it with good health because obvs if I cook at home it must be good. I then get to eat the leftovers because they are healthy too! But quantity is as important as quality as your 4 STONE weight loss ha proved.
