They are all hideous, sorry

ameliameerkat · 01/04/2012 21:20

Oh my word. Although I think all of them are age/height/size appropriate - not for a wedding! Maybe going out to a bar, but not to a wedding I would say......sorry.

Is it a gypsy wedding? Genuine question, if it is then i think you will be fine in any of them.
If not you will look like a whore

Sorry, just being honest

I would say you will probably have more luck with Dotty P's and if you order tonight, there is 30% of most things Smile

mosschops30 · 01/04/2012 21:34

Just had a look at dresses on DP website, lots of smart dresses on there suitable for weddings

Ambrosius · 01/04/2012 21:37

Everything I've seen in dotty p is a bit meh.
Ooohh not fair!
Any suggestions would be very welcome!

I've just had a peek at river island, and I'd steer clear if I were you. If you really want to use your vouchers, Dorothy Perkins has much better/more wedding appropriate stuff. I really like the border print prom dress in black & white & just under £36, and I like the ink spotty midi dress (if you want a longer length) at just under £29. There are a lot of peplum styles as well which can be very flattering. I know they look quite tame (dull?) compared to your original choices, but I would advise you to tone it down dress wise and then have a bit more fun with accessories. A plain black & white dress can look amazing with, say, a pair of bright pink shoes. Or red with the ink dress. And get a hat, or if it's not a hat type of wedding, get some sort of head piece or jewellery, even a fake flower. I got a couple of great fake flowers in Claire's accessories years ago that I tied my hair up with, and they were lovely. Good luck x

Just so you know the black one is made from horrid material, I saw it in the shop today :(

Maybe try next/Lipsy they have some lovely dresses atm

Ambrosius · 01/04/2012 22:24

I didn't mind the material too much, it wasn't great but ok.
All three dresses looked good on. Or so I thought! They were all flattering.

The oriental print dress from oasis is lovely. Sorry can't link on phone

MagsAloof · 01/04/2012 23:11

Way too tarty for a wedding. Even an Essex one Grin

only4tonight · 01/04/2012 23:13

The polka dot one in river island is nice. You have the height to carry something like that off

Ambrosius · 01/04/2012 23:15

I can't believe people think the black one is tarty! Its way below the knee, not particularly low cut, wasn't even that tight on....

The oasis one is gorgeous.

I tried the polka dot one on, its made of a kind of jersey material which a bit see through, although the shape was lovely. Its the one I liked best before I tried them all on.

asos is normally good and also some nice dresses in tk maxx.

scarlettsmummy2 · 01/04/2012 23:37

Black at a push with a fascinator but think you could do better. All are a bit tacky, even if you are only 26. Try next or autograph at m and s

only4tonight · 02/04/2012 00:26

I only like one of the day dresses in dotty ps for your figure. The boarder print prom dress. And its on offer.

whitelillies · 02/04/2012 08:11

I actually thought the first dress from RI was quite nice (if you have a lovely figure). I think it was unfairly and harshly judged ! I dont normally love RI but I think it would depend on how you dress it - maybe black opaques and black heels with a jacket/wrap and sparkly bag.
The oasis one is quite nice too.
Gosh you re 26 not 56! Dont go to M n S!
