Volumising root powder?

I have very fine, flat hair that no amount of volumising shampoo, conditioner, spray or mousse makes the slightest bit of difference to. I can get the tiniest bit of volume by using mousse and root lifting type sprays and drying my hair upside down, but within 5 minutes it's completely limp and flat again. I keep on hearing about how wonderful volumising root powders are. Has anyone tried them? Do they work or are they just another waste of money?

pluckingup funnily enough i have thought about hairpieces but again wouldnt know where to begin as a colour match would be hard. I am using christina hendricks as inspiration as she clearly wears hairpieces alot. Am disappointed to read wigs are really hot and uncomfie, how do beyonce etc cope?

I am in a similar position - I have very thin, fine red hair, more strawberry blonde I suppose: I can imagine it would be impossible to match.

Christina Hendricks has said that she's a blonde, so I suspect she has hairpieces dyed when she has her hair dyed. Not sure how Beyonce etc cope - hot lights, itchy wig, URGH!
