*sounds klaxon* 30% GA peel shizzle that you can do at home

thought i ought to do a public service and announce it properly as hardly anyone seems to know you can buy this stuff to use at home - and it works out sooo much cheaper than having it done at a salon even tho it's the exact same stuff.

i've only used it once so far (for 3 mins) but have been properly amazed by the results - as i posted on another thread, my 11s have reduced by 50% [holy grail] and my skin generally looks brighter and more even.

you do it weekly, building up the time over 6 weeks and then have a break.

the magic goo is here: www.bravuralondon.com/glycolic-acid-30.html

don't forget to get the neutraliser (apparently just bicarb but maybe has crushed fairies' castles in it too Hmm so your choice) and use sun block in the day.

anyone a veteran of the stuff and care to share your results?

p.s. i don't work for bravura and i'm a MN regular recently name-changed to separate my S&B chat with my over-sharing on other threads.

Interesting - I may have to try GA next. I am really pale but my spots go red then deep red as they go down. The discolouration lasts for ages and my skin always looks blotchy.

SeasonOfTheWitch · 14/04/2012 20:43

sounds veh similar to my skin actually missfoodie. I think GA probably best for mine as it's made it less oily but hasn't made it at all dry.

or maybe alternating each course (not within the course) might be good

oooh and meant to report i ordered one of those mr mascara blackhead remover thingies that someone upthread raved about (sorry can't recall who but thank you!)

thankfully i read some reviews which gave instructions as there's bugger all on the packet. i did it after a bath so my pores were up for it. it didn't work for me at all if i just pressed the thing over a blackhead but was brilliant if i kind of 'planed' it over my skin.

sorry, this is gross but.... by the end of the 'scraping' i had a ton of sebum sticking to the tool and actual holes where the stuff had been (which i'm obv hoping will be less like a hole soon or i might prefer the sebum there)

what about alternating weekly between GA and SA?
and ps season do you really live in herts? could have sworn I'd seen you walking 2 kids to school near tooting.....

MissBeehivingUnderTheMistletoe · 14/04/2012 21:23

I have sizzled for the third time tonight, although I didn't sizzle the bits I over sizzled last week. I'm applying my GA for different times on different parts of my face - my forehead clearly has been transplanted from a rhino because no amount of sizzling seems to upset it Confused, nose and cheeks are more Gas Mark 5 and chin oversizzles at the drop of a hat. I think I may need the ultra Hydrsizzle Serum thing.

However my skin tone is much much better Smile

MissFoodie · 14/04/2012 21:50

missbee are you on the 30% GA?

Snakeonaplane · 14/04/2012 21:59

I did my GA today for the first time skin looks better a bit like after a facial but nothing too dramatic, I'm excited about leaving it on for longer.

Can I just ask what are people doing after it? My skin felt quite tight, I used a bit of the babies coconut massage oil but not sure what I should be doing.

As an aside I can recommend waitrose baby coconut massage stuff for the face Grin

MissFoodie · 14/04/2012 22:01

coconut oil is fine :)
otherwise, something hydrating first, then the coconut oil?

MissBeehivingUnderTheMistletoe · 14/04/2012 22:08

lubeybooby · 15/04/2012 14:25

Hey all

Still unendingly impressed following first GA 30% peel.

Skin very dry today (day 3) but have used loads of spf moisturiser and it looks good. Much improved from before the peel.

Going to go for 4 mins tomorrow night

PerryCombover · 15/04/2012 14:35

I think one of you will report a dissolved nose back to us soon

PerryCombover · 15/04/2012 14:38

But no, I repeat no blackheads on it

Whitershadeofpale · 15/04/2012 14:42

Just done a 30% GA peel on my mum. It's already made a massive
Difference to her 11s and lines around the eyes. She's very impressed, will keep you updated.

TheBolter · 15/04/2012 15:27

Ooo I've started to use this stuff too! GA 30% 2nd peel, Day 3.

Can't say I've noticed a HUGE difference yet, but I have good skin already. I'm not sure I left it on for long enough, having read the reviews here. Might give it another go later - under eyes too, I was being v good about those.

Can anyone tell me the difference between SA and GA?

Also, does anyone know if this stuff does any long term damage? I am wondering whether stripping my skin regularly is a good thing or not!

cybbo · 15/04/2012 19:16

I'm going in for sizzle numero trois ce soir

Snakeonaplane · 15/04/2012 19:33

Catastrophic error today, went to the gym this am was running late so no chance to put on make up after. Took dd riding, it was flipping freezing, watched for 20 mins, fast forward to now, I'm sunburnt like this Angry.

Don't forget your SPF peeps.

cybbo · 15/04/2012 19:34

I've been slathered in spf50 ever since I started the sizzle

Snakeonaplane · 15/04/2012 19:36

That's very wise cybbo, I'm going to stick some in my handbag and apply regularly. It wasn't even that nice and it literally was 20 mins and probably completely defeats the purpose

notapizzaeater · 15/04/2012 19:42

How many days afterwards do you have to wear the spf face cream ??

cybbo · 15/04/2012 19:50

OW OW OW OW SHITPISSFUCKWANK

ggirltwin2pinot · 15/04/2012 19:52

man up cybbo!

cybbo · 15/04/2012 19:53

I'm using high spf primer from now on, ALL THE TIME

Once this bisto mark on my cheek has gone Hmm that baby is NOT coming back

cybbo · 15/04/2012 19:55

gg IT HURTS

I've neutralised and washed the bastard off and IT HURTS GODDAMMIT

And I managed to get a mouthful of neutraliser. Yeuch

sansucre · 15/04/2012 19:58

I've ditched the GA for now and last night saw my first SA peel which I did for 3 minutes.

Ow, ow, ow! Boy did it sizzle! GA made me feel a little itchy but it was nothing compared to the SA which felt a little like my skin was burning.

I applied lots of face oil afterwards and when I woke up this morning, my skin felt softer than it has done in years. There was a teeny tiny spot which my trusty Tweezerman extractor took care of very easily!

I can't saw my pores look any smaller, nose still blackhead-y but I know SA takes a little longer to bring results so am hopeful.

This afternoon saw a little peeling and am tempted to give my face a good steaming later and have a go at my nose with my extractor to see if anything can be harvested.. Am interested to see what the rest of the week brings.

SeasonOfTheWitch · 15/04/2012 20:02

oh poor you snakey Sad a cautionary tale for all of us

pizza i've never heard of a defined time to wear sunscreen afterwards but i kinda think if you can still see some results from it then it makes sense to wear it. i usually wear spf 15 but have been on paula's choice spf 45 since sizzling unless it's a crappy day and/or i'll be in all day.

i've been using the bravura 10% GA night cream since the last sizzle of my 30% course and my skin is still looking really clear and clean and no returns of the 11s either
