*sounds klaxon* 30% GA peel shizzle that you can do at home

thought i ought to do a public service and announce it properly as hardly anyone seems to know you can buy this stuff to use at home - and it works out sooo much cheaper than having it done at a salon even tho it's the exact same stuff.

i've only used it once so far (for 3 mins) but have been properly amazed by the results - as i posted on another thread, my 11s have reduced by 50% [holy grail] and my skin generally looks brighter and more even.

you do it weekly, building up the time over 6 weeks and then have a break.

the magic goo is here: www.bravuralondon.com/glycolic-acid-30.html

don't forget to get the neutraliser (apparently just bicarb but maybe has crushed fairies' castles in it too Hmm so your choice) and use sun block in the day.

anyone a veteran of the stuff and care to share your results?

p.s. i don't work for bravura and i'm a MN regular recently name-changed to separate my S&B chat with my over-sharing on other threads.

tis bollocks you can't wear anything or out anything on your skin while doing the acid peels
have read lots of dermatologist sites and the only thing they bang on about is to use an spf
you can still use retin a creams while using the peels , maybe give it a moss on the night you do the peel but after that it's fair game ...lob it on!

PinotCantDoEasterNamesSoGaveUp · 07/04/2012 21:50

cybbo = rock hard. Like wonder woman of s&b.

WeesaD · 08/04/2012 01:26

Cybbo, then why do they sell the GA night creams then?

I worked for a dermatologist for a while, and bare minerals are fine and in fact the only thing recommended after laser treatment as they are so pure. A lot of the others aren't. I don't work for them btw!

cybbo · 08/04/2012 10:40

Good point Weesa. I'm not stopping using any of my acidy things while I'm peeling

And I did microdermabrasion this morning too

RollerCola · 08/04/2012 11:11

I suffer from rosacea and have extremely mega-sensitive skin. This would be bad for me yes? Smile

Whitershadeofpale · 08/04/2012 11:59

My skin is fine this morning, a little bit dry but not so much I couldn't wear make-up. The blackheads on my nose do seem to have decreased significantly.

rusmum · 08/04/2012 14:07

Done peel twice and my skin on awful!!!! Spotty Sad

AmazingDisgrace · 08/04/2012 16:29

It's me ... Mrs Dav ;-) H is going to do it tonight!

SeasonOfTheWitch · 08/04/2012 19:55

Sad rusmum i had spots last week but assumed they were ocm-related. they've pretty much cleared up now. will do last peel of the course tonight and will let you know if i get spots afterward again.

sorry forgotten who asked about course 2. i'm not sure when i'll start my next course - just checked the bravura site and it says "... after six weeks you take a two week break and then begin the cycle again. "

so unless it's super-sunny in 2 weeks Hmm then i guess i'll start again then. would be good to fit them in before a longer break over the summer.

savy yy, i always wear make-up the next day and my skin's been fine.

OP posts:
WeesaD · 08/04/2012 20:20

What's OCM please?

sansucre · 08/04/2012 20:32

OCM

I do this too and highly recommend it - I use a mix of jojoba, olive and castor oil.

SeasonOfTheWitch · 08/04/2012 20:33

call yerself a MNetter? Wink it's oil cleansing method. if you search on here you'll find loadsa threads - there's a recent one on s&b actually.

OP posts:
SeasonOfTheWitch · 08/04/2012 20:37

in ocms's defence i ought to say i've been doing it for yonks and rarely get spots, i'd just recently changed oils and i think i was using too much and not getting it off well enough.

OP posts:
Whitershadeofpale · 08/04/2012 21:07

As the days worn on my skin's become dryer looking and I've developed a nice crop of spots on my chin. My skin does look brighter though and the blackheads have definitely reduced

blobtobetter · 08/04/2012 21:18

Skin feels soft and smoother - blackheads look the same!! - have massive spots on my chin. Those might be due to changing on to oils though.

WeesaD · 08/04/2012 21:57

Oh no I don't profess to be a true mumsnetterWink, I'm a newbie.

MissFoodie · 08/04/2012 23:55

am going to do SA 10% for third time tomorrow....if no visible results am hitting the 20%!

btw is anyone rubbing when removing theirs? or using a flannel?

Whitershadeofpale · 08/04/2012 23:58

I'm using 10% SA and I use a flannel to wash off. I rub lightly until the stinging stops.

MissFoodie · 09/04/2012 00:08

Just wondering as if the acid is dissolving some of the crap/skin then should I/we be rubbing or exfoliating afterwards to get it off?

and how long is anyone waiting after doing it before using the clarisonic?

Whitershadeofpale · 09/04/2012 00:28

I used claisonic about 45 mins before and then the next morning.

blobtobetter · 09/04/2012 08:53

I left 10% SA on for 2 minutes and it only stung a tiny bit. Maybe I am not putting enough on?!

PrunellaDeVille · 09/04/2012 10:49

found this thread last week and got very excited about the prospect of dealing with a lifetime of bad skin that has taken it's toll, then the next day found out i am pregnant - what's the position? is it a bad thing to do whilst pregnant? i only ask as it seems everything is bad for me suddenly

WeesaD · 09/04/2012 17:22

Seriously, how soon would a reacts come up after a patch test??
Just did one on my forehead, neck and chest an hour ago. Forehead and chest nothing, neck a bit pink but ok. Can I do the lot (just avoiding the test areas?)?can I? Can I?

WeesaD · 09/04/2012 17:35

OK, so I couldn't wait for replies Grin.
Just done my face, neck, Chet with 30%GA for 2 mins.
Nothing, nada. No stinging, no tightness, not even pink. Have I done something wrong?? Face just feels like I've washed it with water and not moisturised.

WeesaD · 09/04/2012 17:35

That's face, neck and chest even!
